Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

dreamt about that once Eskimo…
Pelosi or Atwood, Pelosi or Atwood….
*cold sweats* …
The Stank found that when her teeth where pulled the fear factor evaporated. She had the weekend to garner support… now she needs to apologize to America and check into a Betty Ford clinic..
Do you think HILL**** played a role, or was it the federal interference in California.. big mistake…
I’m probably the only one around here that thought that Ol’ Leon would turn into the perfect choice to lead the CIA. This is proving it. With the craven partisanship, self serving greed and utter lack of moral responsibility exhibited by Dems overall, and Obama particularly, if the CIA is to do their job in spite of the efforts of the Congress and White House, it needs a leader that understands this attitude from the inside, and is willing to act as the degree of separation needed to free the Agency from politics.
They’re gonna run Pelosi under with a Government Motors bus?
Methinks she could possibly be under same in a few weeks
Hope the ‘polosi’ bus has air ride. Don’t want ‘the Obama man’ to hit his head on the roof when he runs over that big pile of garbage.
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer:
“We know things were done. We know that the law – we believe – certainly – was broken, and we ought to find out whether the law was broken. I think she’s accurate when she says what she said.”
Yikes. Pelosis is contagious.
Pelosi, and the rest of the “CIA-are-liars-and-law-breakers” cult, will now, and forever, have to wonder who might be watching from the deep shadows. The self-inflicted paranoia will be a treat to watch as it takes it’s toll. She has already started the unravelling.
One rogue agent, or ex-agent, could make things interesting while evening the score for the “chattering” class.
Nan will soon decide that she needs a food taster, a botox tester, and more Secret Service agents on Air Pelosi One.
Brer Pelosi and the CIA Tar Baby. It should be interesting how the story develops over the coming weeks.
Pelosi was briefed but she didn’t inhale. “It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘informed’ is”.
The CIA is closing ranks around the speaker, they got a “Bush Ordered You to Lie, This is the New CIA Letter” from Obama to get away with lying now to save the W-3 (Wicked Witch of the West).
Dems are already saying even if she is lying why is this a story, she did not order torture!
So now the real torture of twisted logic is what the Pelosi Congress is guilty of.
Cruel & unusual punishment – for that bus
Run over by a public transportation system that bought GM buses.
Poetic.
I hope she gets off. She makes a great poster child, along with Murtha. After all, she was right then and is wrong now. We don’t need a shiny new speaker for the party of evil.
The majority of Americans support what the CIA did.
Yesterday Rush L. said 46% (if memory serves me) of American believe the CIA lied. Scary very scary.
Under the Bus with her with the rest of the vermon.
tim:
You beat me to it.
Keep Pelosi right where she is, so the American public can never forget.
The Democratic majority in Congress will circle the wagons around her … and she will continue to be a hood ornament of the Party.
Could a better diversion have been staged during the cap and trade proceedings in congress? Soros is a genius. Oh, and Pelosi, she’s gonna miss that bus.
Here’s a scary thought. The Speaker of the House (Pelosi) is the third in command.
In the event the President or the VP are unable to perform their duties, Pelosi would get the call.
And you thought President Joe Biden was scary…
Ian
Very true. It was almost unanimous here that Panetta was a bad choice because of his lack of practical experience; I commented at the time that it may be good to have an outsider in the leadership role. I support hiring a leader from outside a particular industry for many other institutions (eg Medicare, public schools ect) so I’m pleased to see Panetta standing up for the CIA, which should increase his clout internally and with the public. His pedigree may convince those on the moderate left to come back to the real world. Obviously it’s too early to judge Panetta’s job performance, but I’ll give him thumbs-up for standing up to Pelose.
Irony is very sweet indeed. The price you pay for playing identity/victim politics is eventually the scope falls on you. In other words: Eventually, yesterdays victim becomes today’s target. Apparently the morphing from one to another happens quickly, and the former victim is unaware until they see the buses undercarriage. I wonder which BO will rise from this fiasco; a gallant black hero like Pootie-Tang
“cappatown cappa chow” to save the damsel in distress; or, will he be the black Ms.Crabtree?
This does not stop at Pelosi.
Apparently, there were more briefings about waterboarding to even more Democratic members of congress.
Politico revealed a PDF document with the names on May 8, that said those people had been apprised of the situation at least 40 times.
Nobody raised an objection at the time, presumably because they were convinced that possible information on future attacks on US soil had to be revealed.
CNN got a copy of Democratic talking points about the issue and the tactic will be to change the subject and shift it to Iraq.
Pelosi was the one who said the CIA lied, therefore the burden of proof falls to her. How that story is going to be squared when even more members of the Democratic Party were given the same information will be interesting to watch.
Pelosi is representative of her city and State of origin:
Morally and financially bankrupt and corrupt. Destroyed by progressive socialism.
San Francisco is the new Sodom for the ages.
California will be the first state to crash and burn…Unless an Obabailout occurs…Watch Texas wanting cessation shortely after…
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer:
“We know things were done. We know that the law – we believe – certainly – was broken, and we ought to find out whether the law was broken. I think she’s accurate when she says what she said.”
Yikes. Pelosis is contagious.
It is puzzling why Hoyer would say such a thing. Hoyer stands to gain by Pelosi’s resignation. One would think he would simply stand back and let the system and the MSM do the job for him. One would think he would be anxious to get Pelosi’s job.
One more thing that is unclear is the more fundamental question: why are Pelosi and the Democrats trying to get away with this? It is not as though we did not know waterboarding was going on for the last several years. Policies change as administrations change – why not simply announce that the Obama administration is drawing the line at a different place than the Bush administration drew the line?
Is something more sinister going on? Is this somehow an attempt to get around the constitutional idea of ex post facto and begin charging Bush administration officials with crimes? I understand that it is much too early to say for certain but I confess that I am having trouble understanding the attempted play that is on display.
Brent
We’re dealing with leftards here. They hate. They are not happy with winning gracefully. They have a need for revenge. They have to destroy anyone who dares dissent from their opinion so leaving Bush et al alone isn’t in their nature.
Brent:
Obama misplayed the entire ‘blame the guys who created the mess’ when he released the documents.
You’re correct in laying out what Obama should have done … that is, announce a different interrogation approach.
Dubya gets it by staying out of the political arena.
Obama doesn’t. He continues to live in the past on this issue and whenever he questions the previous administration, it’s only fair that Cheney must defend.
Cheney has been totally effective in a non-aggressive way, placing enough land mines in his answers that the Democratic Party willingly steps into.
But then, I guess you’d know the details better, since you live in the US. Correct?
Pelosi lied, people died.
The Left owns the Senate, Congress, White house, the Supreme Court, and the MSM.
All Pelosi needs to survive this is for those institutions to do nothing, and I’m sure they will.
Way. To. Go. American voters.

Warwick, SYF:
Thanks for your comments. Although I agree with both your sentiments, I was looking for something just a little bigger. Here is my thinking: any blame assigned to Bush administration officials will also extend to the high levels of CIA officials and possibly to high levels of military officials.
Does the current administration think those career people in those high places will simply wait for an Attorney General to press charges? Certainly leaks will be made (with supporting documentation) and the intelligence people will protect their own careers. Does the administration also not realize that all intel officers will be reluctant to press the new boundaries under the current administration if, in fact, those implementing said policies may be prosecuted under a future administration? As such, National Security is being weakened with a two pronged attack: one through official policy changes and the other through the threat of future retaliation.
To be sure, I do not know if there is going to be an ex post facto play here with associated charges – I am simply trying to figure out the play. What I mean is we are dealing with liberals here. Yes, I know, liberals cannot handle dissent very well. But, liberals also change their minds more frequently. Why can not they say: “That was then, this is now, we have learned …”?
After all, we all know that they were informed by the CIA….
SYF:
I do not know if living in the US affords me any advantage in knowledge that is in the news in the days of the Web. However, I do have the advantage of meeting people who voted Democrat and now have realized Obama is a mistake.
There are not many yet. However, a mighty river starts with a trickle, a fire starts with a spark, and a snowball gets bigger as it goes downhill. The ones that are remorseful do feel as though they have been betrayed and feel quite foolish for not having done their due diligence last summer and fall. The important thing to note is that they do not simply shrug and say “Well, McCain would have been just as bad” – there is a feeling of betrayal. There is an emotion that is associated with the statements. This will only get bigger as Obama continues with his agenda.
BW
I suspect the charade is intended to last 4-5 yrs and then nobody will be able to ignore the consequences of BO’s spending, but by then it’s too late. Americans MUST realize that 2010 is the year to stop this change. If the Super-Majority continues until 2012 free speech and liberty will be damaged irreparably. You can’t fight the government or socialism if conservative views are illegal.
Indiana:
That is what the play appears to be. I am just thinking that it should be so obvious that it should not succeed. Therefore, what is the real agenda…? Perhaps the real agenda is that it will succeed. Hmmm.
“I am just thinking that it should be so obvious that it should not succeed.”
All things being equal I agree, but things are not equal. As long as you can rob Peter to pay Paul it’s easy to secure Paul’s support; so, imagine if you rob Paul jr. and Peter jr. to pay Peter and Paul. That sounds like a winning strategy. After all, Paul and Peter jr. have no voice. By the time they do have a voice, history can be rewritten and traditional American values can cease to exist. IMO, this is the betrayal of the “Boomers” in it’s glorious full bloom.
Why do I get the feeling the MSM will allow Peloser to lie her way right out of this whole contoversy ?
R.W.R.N:
I am not so sure about that. This is from the NYT.
Pelosi Acknowledges She Was Told of Waterboarding in 2003
Under fire from Republicans for what she knew about harsh questioning of terror detainees, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday acknowledged that she had learned in 2003 that the C.I.A. had subjected suspects to waterboarding, but she asserted that the agency had misled Congress about its techniques.
The article then goes on to quote Republican Porter Goss:
According to the C.I.A. records, Ms. Pelosi attended the Sept. 4 briefing about the agency’s interrogation techniques with her Republican counterpart, Representative Porter J. Goss of Florida. Based on agency notes from the briefing, the two lawmakers were told the specific techniques “that had been employed” on Abu Zubaydah.
By then, that C.I.A. already used a number of harsh methods on Mr. Zubaydah, including waterboarding.
The C.I.A. records do not list the individual techniques that lawmakers were told about. However, in an op-ed last month, Mr. Goss said he remembers being told specifically about waterboarding during the September 2002 briefing.
“I am slack jawed to read that members claim to have not understood that the techniques on which they were briefed were to actually be employed; or that specific techniques such as “waterboarding” were never mentioned,” Mr. Goss wrote in The Wall Street Journal.
The NYT is stopping short of calling Pelosi a liar, but they are quoting freely from others whose accounts are vastly different from Pelosi’s. These differences are more than just misunderstandings or memory lapses – somebody is lying. Perhaps Pelosi is the truthful one; then again, maybe not.

And, you deserve it.
Sadly, those of us beyond U.S. borders will also be hurt by it.
