The particular quote in question – “An eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind” is fairly logical and straightforward. If everyone kills the person responsible for killing one of their kin, it stands to logic, if the person thinking has any, that sooner or later, everyone will kill everyone else off. Exciting? Truthful? I don’t seen any point in bandying those terms, but I do believe the word you are looking for is realistic.
As for the Jefferson bit, I am only quoting the Thomas Jefferson Foundation’s own stance on the issue. Of course, I am sure that the foundation is full of lefties who hate Jefferson and seek to decieve themselves. Adulatory nonsense or not, one would have to be foolish to deny the role played by MLK in the civil rights movement. That he is human and has human flaws is pointless. Mother Theresa enjoyed the patronage of Baby Doc Duvalier despite his unsavoury, even bloody, record. That has little bearing on the fact that she helped thousands of poor people.
