1. Do you really need a crystal ball to predict they will find some connection with Pakistani taliban?
   I mean, the Obamassiah has already said he wants to go into Pakistan and clean up Afghanistan.
   This would be as convenient excuse as any, and with Pakistan government in a shambles and no love lost between Pakistan and India…India is a good prospective member of the international military “peace army” now lead by a global messiah.
   Obamassiha throws the defense contractors, NATO and the pentagon a foreign policy bone to keep them off his domestic martial mobilization plans. The new American soviet states need a strong martial force to ensure the people’s will is carried out by the new Washington politburo.

2. There were over 420 killed or wounded by this small force of 12-25 terrorists armed with basic weapons and hitting several targets in this city. This small force overwhelmed the police force of this city of over 13 million people! How is it possible that hitting several sites totally surprised the police and military forces and it took days to eliminate this tiny group?
   Why do the police and military forces always slap their foreheads in amazement crying “We never thought terrorists could do this!” as the US did in 9/11? Tom Clancy wrote a book years ago on a similar scenario to 9/11 yet their hugely expensive intelligence agencies apparently don’t read.
   India has had years of terrorist bombing particulary by muslim groups yet caught with their pants down yet again.

The biggest problem for the commandos was the terrorists knowledge of the hotel, and hostages. They had to flush out the hotel slowly – and it was booby trapped. 36 hours to clear out a 700 room wrecked hotel is hardly bad.
   The death toll could have been worse. All the locations hit were packed. The army and police managed to neutralize all the terrorists outside the three sites fairly quickly.
   No one thought they would mount an attack like this. The modus operandi is bomb blasts. The military can hardly be expected to learn they layout of every major hotel or building in Bombay. Colossal intelligence failure? Yes. But then again, you only have to get one wrong. Military/police failure? Hardly. They did well. Huge debate on in India. The politicians are being spanked and the army lauded. For good reason.

Here’s the thing: If the ISI can’t be reined in by their own government and the Americans are already involved in two wars, Pakistan might not like the alternative, which is all-out war with India.    Clancy wrote a book about terorists hitting a Mall in Missouri or something liek that…Think about Columbine or Mark Lepine, same kind of thing that determined people with guns can cause enormous damage.
   Whether the attack met all of their goals is one of the key questions to answer.

10. There was a reason that the police stumbled at first.
    As I pointed out to Bill,
    I watched a lot of the raw newsfeed over the ‘net. During the first day, there was a discussion of the police dead, and it was noted that the terrorists, before assaulting the police station, fanned out. One of the teams set up outside the hospital where the EOP called for the ERT Command be set up. When the head police guys showed up, they were slaughtered in their vehicles. This lends credence to ISI being involved, as this is the type of info that is shared.
    When you have a chain of command ruptured this way, there is a lack of cohesion in the response until a new command team is set up, it gets updated, and the men in the field are made aware of the new command. The Indian police did a rather good job of playing ‘catchup’ under the circumstances.
    I’ve got a few anti-terrorism text books on my shelf that are only good for toilet paper as the doctrine has changed.
    This is the first ‘attack in depth’ we’ve seen, and the obvious plan was to capture and hold for as long as possible. This definitely took ‘on the ground’ support and coordination.
    This is a NEW tactic that no one was expecting as a high probability. It’s one of the axioms of anti-terrorism that you are prepared for the last attack, not the new one.

    The book that Clancy wrote told of a pilot flying a loaded 747 into the American Congress building killing thousands as the president was giving the state of the union address. Scenario sound like something the “intelligence” community should have considered.
    Didn’t the huge hotel being blown up in Pakistan maybe give the security agencies a slight clue this might be a rich target. Damn, but we got the airports sort of covered!
