  1. From the link by Johann above, STOPIGGY.

“On Wednesday, as Mr. Dion was defending his Green Shift plan to reporters and saying he would not delay it or change it if he became Prime Minister, Mr. Ignatieff was telling a different story to the editorial board of Montreal’s La Presse newspaper.
Mr. Ignatieff said “it’s possible” that Liberals would consider changing the details of the plan. He said they would hold on to the “essential elements” of the scheme but that “we need to adjust in front of unpredictable (times).”
Mr. Ignatieff cautioned, however, that the party would not abandon the plan because “Mr. Dion has based all of his career on it.””

  2. Dion just confirmed that it is a Go on the GREEN TAX, Watch that overnite poll turn blue.

  3. Dion confirming the Green Tax is a go.
Watch the Overnite Polls & go read the comments on Tabers article on this at the G&M
Liberals are in a state of shock When they thought they had a chance at forming the Govt they know he has shot himself in the foot again.

  4. Adscam? What’s that?
You mean that Liberal Party illegal kickback scheme disguised as a Unity program in Quebec while Dion was Unity Minister from1996 to 2003 and swears he never heard of?
The one a judge says enriched the Liberal Party. Where millions and millions of taxpayer dollars are missing and unaccounted for?
The one which made Quebecers look like fools and crooks, and they have apparently forgotten?
The, in the words of the judge, ” illegal kickback scheme to the Liberal Party” in which NO LIBERAL has ever been fingered?
The one the media seems never to have heard of?
    That Adscam?

  5. Liberal newspaper/MSM can’t swallow Citoyen Dionky’s Grreeeen Shift. Liberal newspaper chews up Dionky and spits him out.

“Throughout most of its history, The Record has endorsed Liberals in federal elections. In fact in the past 40 years, there have been only two other occasions on which we did not. However, the Green Shift is a stumbling block we cannot clear.”
“Another Liberal, Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan voiced similar worries last week when he observed: “One of the things that I think would be a mistake right now is massive shifts in tax burden at a time when there’s uncertainty.” No wonder, then, that one of Dion’s most celebrated teammates, Bob Rae, said two days ago that, if elected, a Liberal government just might delay that carbon tax. What a vote of nonconfidence Rae gave.
Yes, the environment is important. Yes, we need a plan to cut carbon emissions drastically. But it will be understandable if Canadians are even more concerned about their jobs, businesses and homes today than they are about carbon levels a quarter of a century or more from now, even if they know that problem, too, must be tackled.
In contrast to the Liberals, the Conservatives, for all their failings, offer a safer, more credible approach to the economy. Months ago, aware of the looming crisis in the American economy, the Conservatives took action. They cut taxes across the board, to corporations, yes, but to ordinary Canadians too. We believe those cuts have helped buoy the Canadian economy. And while Harper was late in releasing his platform, it appears to be a prudent plan, offering targeted support for specific sectors of the economy.
There is reassurance, too, in Harper’s record over 2 1/2 years in power. He reached a welcome compromise with the Liberals so that Canadian troops can help bring aid and security to Afghanistan until 2011. Separatist sentiment in Quebec slumbers, thanks partly to Harper’s efforts to reach out to that province.
Nor have we seen the so-called “hidden agenda” of socially conservative initiatives. We see no indication Harper intends to resurrect national debates on abortion, the death penalty or same-sex marriage. And this only makes sense. Whatever Harper’s personal views are on these subjects, he knows that pushing them onto the House of Commons agenda would be political suicide.
On balance, Harper has put Canada in a good, even enviable position to weather the coming economic storm. Proof of this came this week when the International Monetary Fund predicted that Canada will lead the Group of 7 industrial nations in growth next year, with our gross domestic product estimated to rise by 1.2 per cent.
And what of the other choices?”

  6. Liberals arrested? No surprise; after all, they are entitled to their, uh, arrests.
    …-
    “Horwitz campaign workers arrested
Two campaigners for Windsor West Liberal candidate Larry Horwitz were arrested on Tuesday after they shoved pamphlets in the faces of people at a grocery store.
Windsor police said the incident happened around 2:20 p.m. at the Zehrs store on Dougall Avenue.
“They were inside the store, approaching customers with pamphlets, stopping them from doing their shopping,” said Staff Sgt. Ed McNorton.”
“Police were called – but even after the officers arrived, the campaigners didn’t relent.
“Our guys approached them and asked them to leave the premises, as their activity was disrupting the business and the management requested that they leave,” McNorton said.
“They responded by shoving a piece of paper in the officer’s face.”
The campaigners reportedly said they were protected by the Canada Elections Act, and that only the RCMP could stop them from campaigning.”

  7. ET: “Get rid of provincial parties acting as federal parties.”
I totally agree. A provincial party which is allowed to participate in national elections–but a party for whom no one other than inhabitants of that province would ever vote for, seeing as the sole agenda is to separate from the nation–should not be allowed.
It is unjust and, as in the case of the Bloc, is extremely damaging to the Canadian democracy.
What a country! I’m old enough to remember Canada pre-Banana Republic designation. The only party/person standing between our becoming a full-fledged Banana Republic is the CPC/Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
PMSH and the CPC are the only serious contenders for leadership in Canada and the fact that the MSM are shills for AnybodyButCPC–tilting heavily towards their buddies and bedpartners, the Librano$–is a national disgrace. The Canadian MSM are shameless, lying, moral pygmies. And blind.

  8. I see prominent Green party member has told supporters which candidates to vote for in ridings where Green party has no chance to win.
    IOW all ridings.

  9. From Stephen Taylor’s blog:
The Economist endorses Harper minority government:
    [begin quote]
And yet, in a sinking world, Canada is something of a cork. Its well-regulated banks are solid. Growth has slowed but not stopped. The big worry is the fear that an American recession will drag Canada down with it.
Mr Harper says, rightly enough, that his government has taken prudent measures to help Canada weather a storm it cannot duck: he has offered tax cuts and selective aid to help vulnerable manufacturing towns. But it is his seeming non-reaction to what is so far a non-crisis that looks likely to deny him the majority he was seeking, and could even let in the opposition. In what is the first credit-crunch election in a big Western country, Mr Harper’s ejection would set a dispiriting precedent that panic plays better politically than prudence.
    [end quote]
I hope Canadians aren’t as dumb and blind as The Economist suggests…but given that PMSH and the CPC are running against the Librano$, the Dippers, the Blocheads, the Gabby Greens, AND the MSM, it’s an open question…

  10. An observation:
The Winnipeg Free Press has a special section, as do most newspapers, highlighting the 2008 federal election.
On the side of the page is “The Daily Voter”, wherein they feature the picture, riding, and voting intention of a voter.
Right now, “Ruth Lee” is there, she’s voting Liberal, and her reason is “Stephen Harper terrifies me. I don’t like his policy on immigration”.
Problem is, Ruth Lee has been the “daily” voter since October 3rd. Before that, while not every day, they were updating the “daily” profiles, at the longest, every 3 days. It has now been 6.
Gee, I wonder why this profile is still there.

ST. LOUIS – Attorneys for the voting registration organizations ACORN and Project Vote filed an anti-discrimination voting rights suit in the U.S. Federal District court this morning, alleging the United States government is involved in “a widespread, systematic effort to disenfranchise Imaginary-Americans and deprive them of access to polls.”

  12. A quote from the Economist:
“From the Economist. “And yet, in a sinking world, Canada is something of a cork.
In what is the first credit-crunch election in a big Western country, Mr Harper’s ejection would set a dispiriting precedent that panic plays better politically than prudence.”
(I love the non-reaction to the non-crisis that Harper is getting pilloried for)
