Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Well, you’d have to figure that Gagliano’s silence must be worth something to our perpetual embedded-government of bureaucrats. Especially with an election coming up.
I speculate wildly.
And the magnums come in suitcases.
Chateau Scumbaglio has a nice ring to it if he’s looking for a brand name.
Any banker for a private lender would have told Gags to take a hike. But, of course, he can get financing through the government-backstopped FCC. This criminal should be rotting in jail. Instead, he’s making wine with my tax dollars potentially bailing out his loan in the event of default. Enough to make one’s blood boil.
lol !!! An endless supply of one-liners.
A nice trait for anyone to have.
I always felt Jean Cretiens remark about something rotten in Denmark, when Gagliano was made ambassador to Denmark, was his sick sense of humor in action. To good a line to pass up knowing what he did about him, as putting yet one more con on the Canadians.
Btw, thanks Kate for (in effect) sort of re-reminding us about Prime Time Crime. There’s a lot of blogs out there, but PTC’s a good one to check in on once and a while.
I particularly enjoyed this bit:
“The ‘Godfather’ of Parliament no longer has his ‘walks and talks’ out behind the Parliamentary library as he smokes his cigars, but apparently, he is still able to reach into the bowels of government and extract his ‘taste’ as needed…”
Leo Knight ain’t the most obsequious Canadian extant.
Google this, cuntrera caruana alfonso gagliano.
I will commit no crime before its time.
Will we hear from any hard working farmers who have had their farms confiscated or been refused loans? Probably not…they are a different breed.
Since no one else has asked…who are the Farm Credit beaurocrats that aim so desperately to please this scum?Let’s out them…good fodder for the election.
Kate…server error on comments for Anbar post.
You have it right EBD, “embedded government bureaucrats” hard at work protecting their asses one squealer at a time.
Wonder how many farmers got turned down for far less than half a million?
EBD, on your first point, I agree whole heartedly. The un-elected government dons are the real puppet masters of bureaucracy.
btw, I’d rather drink Baby Duck (or Moody Blue) than pay for some of Gago’s Chateau Scumbaglio.
Unbelievable!
Made member of the Bonano mafia.
Harper blew his chance to win when a majority when he let these “f” n criminals walk away from the crime scene.
Big Al should be drinking jailhouse fermented sugar water out of plastic bags .

If anyone’s asking about Alfonso Gagliano’s $500,000 federal “loan” from the government (loan in Librano vernacular means free money from the suckered Canadian taxpayer) for his latest “business,” a vineyard, you can tell them that the CPC is “disturbed” by it and has written the agency that gave it to Gagliano. From an article in the Probe and Fail:
[begin quote]
Dimitri Soudas, spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, said in an e-mail to The Canadian Press on Saturday: “Alphonso Gagliano receiving a loan from Farm Credit Canada was disturbing.”
“The Conservative Government believes that money should go to help farmers, not former Liberal cabinet ministers.”
Mr. Soudas said the Tories are in the process of tightening guidelines that Crown Corporations must take into account when loaning money.

Another item that’s kept tight lipped by the MSM which I remember reading when the adscam was in full swing was that Gagliano owed the Federal Gov 100 of thousands if not millions in back taxes were Godfather Cretino made a quick phone call to have it completely “erased” from the books.
Justice has not yet been served concerning the dark Cretino years. Harper would be critisized for it but If he wins a majority and I don’t care if it costs millions, the whole 13 year sham should be exposed and justice served for all taxpayers once and for all. Gun Registry, HRDC, Adscam, etc…..
Problem is, though the Conservatives may be disturbed, Gags got the money to the tune of half a million. Think what a few real farmers could do with that amount.
“Made member of the Bonano mafia.”
WHO? Gagliano?
Impossible, surely our Canadian investigative journalists would have dug deep into a story like that.
Yeah, right, if he had conservative ties.
Liberal cabinet ministers and diplomats get free passes.
Whatever happened to the New York Post’s report that Giggles Gagliano had made with the New York Mob ?
FCC could do with closer scrutiny.
Is there something that says there are not enough wineries producing already in Canada or Quebec, that dictates this loan should be given?
Why would this particular man be at the front of the line anyway? What is the financial risk for Gagliano now?
This kind of granting of a preferred loan is what makes folks, already in the business, want to spit. Let alone the taxpayer.
hey whatsamatterforyou?

maybe he can get a grant for a cementshooz plant.
“Alphonse Gagliano, Lib, Mafia Central”
(A few bars of the theme of The Godfather audible in the background…)
From Wiki
On November 17, 2004, an article in the New York Daily News alleged that Gagliano was associated with the Bonanno organized crime family. In the article, former capo Frank Lino, now an informer for the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, is quoted as saying Gagliano was introduced to him during a meeting with other mob members in Montreal. Gagliano has strongly denied the allegations. It is not the first time Gagliano’s name has been linked to organized crime. In 1994, La Presse reported that Gagliano was the bookkeeper for Agostino Cuntrera, cousin of cocaine baron Alfonso Caruana, who was involved in a gangland slaying of Paul Violi in Montreal in 1978. Cuntrera was subsequently convicted of murder.[3] Gagliano denies any links to the Mafia.[4] Gagliano now resides with his family in the United States since 2006, and no further charges have been brought against him. (CanWest News Service, October 2006, 2007)
What’s the loan Conditions such as What are the penalties for defaults? What is the interest rate?
anybet he don’t pay it back anyways as we all know the track record of loans for the liberal Elite’s
perhaps a little guy from Shawinigan will be opening up a hotel on the estate.
smalltown cheap. on your tax dollar.
just more corruption from an already corrupt bureaucracy. carry on.
Maybe Gagliano get get one of Brian Mulroney’s used brown enevlopes.
Mulroney wasnt one of us. He was just another Quebec politician run by the elite eastern oligarchy at the intersection of Bay Street and Sussex drive.
the Reform and the Alliance where created by this perversion of a conservative.
Cretian, Mulroney,Clark, Trudeau, Martin, all lieberal pukes at heart.
I also own and operate a winery in Dunham, Quebec. I spent years learning how to grow grapes and make wine. I would love to know what are his qualifications and background experience to be able to get a loan to do something in which I am sure he has zero experience in doing. There are many farmers in the region who would love to get the deal that he got …. and I am sure that there are many who perceive a great injustice happening here.
Also, to get a winery license in Quebec is no small feat. There are numerous background checks and an examination of your financial resources. It also takes a long time to get a license. This is what I find more baffling than him getting a loan from some farm agency.
Why doesn’t the CBC finance my grapes?
