Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your delectation and pursuant to our Wednesday night comedy show and Gunney99’s request for more rhythm and melody on SDA LNR, here are Allan Sherman, Dean Martin, and Vic Damone performing A Medley of Songs on the Dean Martin Show in 1965 (6:31).

Update: Pursuant to our previous footage, here at SDA LNR, of l’Hydroptère, the current fastest sailboat in the world (47.2 knots, 87.4 km/h), I have found some additional footage. While the former is more majestic and is a great overview, the latter, and I say this speaking as an old Tornado sailor, more accurately reflects the feel on the boat, in my opinion.

  8. Re additional footage of l’Hydroptère: What a rush! Bonus upside – it’s nothing but exhilarating and positive, and it’s a fine example of what we as a species can achieve when we use everything we know to work together toward a common goal. My French isn’t great, but no matter – their naked glee when they hit top end required no interpretation. Stoked is a universal language.
    Far better viewing for one’s mental health than the DNC, which, oddly, doesn’t quite fire a person up with the same compelling cellular-level desire to go out and do something cool in the world.

    And, wouldn’t ya know it? The rally is held in Quebec, the province that has slurped the loudest, longest, and the most at the publicly funded government trough.
    Maybe now certain entitled Quebecois, who too often think they’re superior to and more deserving than other Canadians, will have an idea of what it’s like to live in the ROC where government grants are harder to get.

  18. Could anyone give me a link to the study that shows the brilliance of the Canadian Wheat Board holding 4 million metric tonnes of wheat off the world market this past year when wheat prices were at some of the highest prices in modern history?
    Actually ‘holding’ is not the right word.
    The CWB is ‘hoarding’ western Canada’s wheat.
    Ironically, federal Lieberal Wayne Easter recently criticized all nations hoarding grain as an unconscionable act which just deprives poor people of their daily food.
    Care to check with the CWB Big Boy and lay the lumber on the CWB too for hoarding Canada’s grain?
    Or is the CWB still in the pockets of Big Crooked Lieberals?

  27. I’ve just come up with a term for the controversy over the tainted meats at Maple Leaf Foods: Lysteria Hysteria.
    I read an article on the issue in the Globe this morning and they are still sticking with the story that 15 deaths have resulted from this contaminated meat, when in fact Health Canada has actually reduced the number of deaths attributable to meat from the MLF plant to 5.
    Considering that listeria can be found even in household kitchens and that Canadians consume millions of pounds of processed meats every year with next to no ill health effects, I find the panic expressed over this issue, even by some conservatives in the blogosphere, to be overblown and annoying.

Everybody tossing off the horrible, oppressive conformities of bourgeois culture—together.
    Mass non-conformity has always been a fantasy, of course. In fact, by my lights, it’s the great and abiding fantasy of my lifetime. And it’s a fascinating fantasy, one well worth contemplating in its latest, flesh-altering form…

  30. Typical lefty fascists trying to silence free speech, Stanley Kurtz who has been researching and writing about the Obama/Ayers connection appeared on this radio show last night. The Obama headquarters declined to appear, then, organized a goon squad to try to shut the program down.
    The archived program is at the bottom. It’s a chilling insight into Obama’s followers who were alerted by mass emails from Obama’s campaign headquarters to protest the program.
    Will the MSM inform the American public of this egregious behavior? Never. Obama had much more than a neighborly relationship with Ayers.

    Beauty man. The re-education camps would do these teens good. But honestly, why should we stop at teens? Heck, there’s alot of people who could use re-education and forced labour to keep their idle hands less than idle.

    August 22nd.
    He writes: “Russia’s aims are clear: (1) sever South Ossetia and Abkhazia from Georgia for incorporation into Russia; (2) bring down Georgia’s pro-Western government; and (3) intimidate Eastern European countries into reentering the Russian sphere of influence.
    Objective No. 1 is already achieved. Georgia will never recover its provinces. They will soon be absorbed into Russia.
    Objective No. 3 has backfired, for now. The Eastern Europeans have rallied to Georgia — and to the United States.
    Objective No. 2 remains in the balance. Russian tanks have cut Georgia in half. Its largest port has been ransacked. Its capital is isolated. Russia shows every sign of staying in place by maintaining checkpoints and ultimate control.
    If conditions continue, Georgia will be strangled and President Mikheil Saakashvili will fall, to be replaced by a docile client whom Russia will offer to deal with magnanimously. Moscow will have demonstrated its capacity to destroy a neighboring pro-Western regime without full-scale invasion or occupation and with zero resistance from NATO. Eastern European leaders will observe this outcome with shock, rethink their reflexive move toward the West and, in time, begin to accommodate themselves to Russian ambitions.     What is to be done? Let’s be real. There’s nothing to be done militarily. What we can do is alter Putin’s cost-benefit calculations.
    We are not without resources. There are a range of measures to be deployed if Russia does not live up to its cease-fire commitments:
    1. Suspend the NATO-Russia Council established in 2002 to help bring Russia closer to the West. Make clear that dissolution will follow suspension. The council gives Russia a seat at the NATO table. Message: Invading neighboring democracies forfeits the seat.
    2. Bar Russian entry to the World Trade Organization.

Then immediately announce the reconstitution of the original G-7.
    4. Announce a U.S.-European boycott of the 2014 Winter Olympics at Sochi. To do otherwise would be obscene. Sochi is 15 miles from Abkhazia, the other Georgian province just invaded by Russia. The Games will become a riveting contest between the Russian, Belarusan and Jamaican bobsled teams. ”

    And more on hurricane Gustav, whose track is heading for New Orleans.
    1. Right now it’s tropical storm Gustav.
    2. It’s 5 days away, if the models are to be believed, from landfall. The uncertainty on the track is huge at this point. And the centre of the track “cone” isn’t even on NO.
    To say it’s a hurricane right now and to pinpoint its landfall location is nothing short of media hyperbole. They’re trying to cause panic. Speed up that asteroid, losers.

  48. What Hypocrisy!! Quoted on CBC news, Bloc Leader Gilles Duceppe says Conservatives are guilty of trying to control the airwaves. Duceppe said the cuts are in line with censoring, and “that’s dangerous. We can’t allow politicians to determine what is written, what is seen, what dances are allowed, what songs are tolerable.”
