    Suppose I moved to China, or Israel, or Bolivia, and started popping off about “mass graves”, which turned out to be entirely fictitious, and how racist my new fellow citizens were: would they not be justified in booting me the hell out of their country?

    Carried a gun for three years too, never got looked at funny by a cop even one time.

  5. Here’s my prevailing thought about Dr. Dawg.
    When his wife was dying of cancer, a death that nobody should endure, the blogosphere including Kate, got behind him to show their love and support. Everyone, regardless of their position on the political spectrum realized there was something more important than politics. She unfortunately passed away and Dr. Dawg was off the blogosphere for a while.
    But after a while he came back with a vengeance and referred in the harshest terms to Kate and this blog. It was at many times a no holds barred attack. No civility, no discussion of points; just personal attacks ala Canadian Cynic.
    For that, in my eyes, Dr. Dawg is and will always be a morally reprehensible piece of shit.
    Screw him and his progressive bloggers…

    Dawg does have a point though – to be a “progressive” means nothing any more. The problem that they seem to be having is that they assume that all “progressives” believe in the Marxist dogma – that few should control everything and that those who profit are only doing so on the backs of unfortunates and must be stopped.

  10. I think they should be termed ‘regressive authoritarianism’ since the Liberal agenda is to regress to the pre-industrial eras of tribalism.
    That’s where the individual is subsumed within the authority of the group – and the group is run by a hierarchical authoritarian SET of ‘Wise Men’. That’s pure Liberal mode, where the citizens are ‘beer and popcorn’ and only the elite in govt RULE.
    You can see an example of that in PB, where, as someone complained, the Progressives Blog had a sidebar stating its opposition to a current Government bill. Another blogger complained, quite rightly, that opposition or defense was up to the individual members of the PB group – not to the PB.
    And, since Dawg rejects one blog’s perspective, he’s gone. You see, dissent and debate aren’t allowed in the ‘Progressive’ Set. You either toe the Party Line or you are out.
    Another aspect of the Progressive, is semantic slithering. This is a key tactic where you tell the person who dissents with you and your authoritarianism that ‘they didn’t understand you’. The onus is moved to you, the dissenter, for not agreeing with the Authority of the Boss.
    So, Regressive Authoritarianism ought to the name for Liberals. They reject individuals, they reject Reason, questions, debate. Their whole view of society is a compliant passive citizenship run by an elite Set of Wise Men who oversee and make all decisions.

  12. So Dr. Dawg is debating the term “progressive”, a term the left love to swaddle themselves in because it makes them feel like they are all inclusive, open minded and looking to the future.
    Unfortunately, if one really looks at the mindset of the left, one would see that they hate dissenters, they hate anyone who disagrees with them, calling them bigots, deniers, hatemongers etc. etc., they love the government looking after them, they hate the right because we champion personal responsibility and choice (um aren’t those truly “progressive” traits??), they believe that their way is the only way.
    The right, who the “progressives” call “regressive”, are much more open minded than the left, believe in personal responsibility, choice in life, government should not intervene in day to day life, and that believe the citizenery for the most part, are competent, use common sense and are and able to think for themselves.
    So in my mind, I would put the question to Dr. Dawg – just who are the TRUE progressives?

    So, there you have it. Getting past the whining and unnecessary recap of Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s alleged “unspeakable brutality and violence” in this pathetically self-serving piece, it’s a distraction, is the real issue, Dawg couldn’t rally any support for censoring the offending blogger. So, he is picking up his toys and leaving the playground.
    Even more interesting, the offending blogger accused Dawg of sending her “hate mail”.
    The chances are zero that “progressive” Dawg will ever see the irony of his behavior.

This of course has diluted the true meaning of “progressive”. Yet, not one of them knows what the true meaning actually means. Other than dr. dawg (one of a few lemming like commenters calling themselves doctor) who states something to the effect that it means they are fighting against the Conservatives. Yet who are these Conservatives? The Progressive Conservatives? Oh, oh, there’s that word “progressive” again.
    Seems they’ve lost the secret decoder ring.

    They self-define themselves as Wise. Dissent and different opinions are simply not permitted. There is no freedom of speech in Liberal Progressive land. There is no freedom of behaviour in Liberal Progressive land. There is only The Way – and an elite is in charge of that Way. You, the individual, have no role other than to obey.
    The amazing thing is, these ‘progressives’, these socialists, these Liberals, actually define such a lifestyle as ‘good’. Incredible. They stomp all over anyone who dissents, they self-define themselves as alone having wisdeom, morality and whatever else…

    The whole deal, (depending on your view of relevant historical fact) is a hangover from the 19th century. The creation of imaginative, privileged elites. A fantasy world view that has proven itself to be nothing but destructive in every last case of it’s principles being enforced.
    This is the year 2008 … we are now in the 21st century.

    Two years ago a liberal would of screamed blue murder if you called them a socialist and now they proudly wear that label. A year ago if you called them a marxist or a commie they’d freak out, now they openly espouse communist doctorine but they call it new “Communism”. How many millions have died for their twisted ideology, the Classical Liberals are progressive and I respect them. But the current liberal party of Canada is not a Liberal Party, it’s following the same path to failure as Blair and Brown-Tyranny using a socialist agenda.
    Every social experiment the left has devised has failed, and society is the victim. Multiculturalism was debunked by their own think tanks, the poor and marginilized have been kept down socially and economically by the socialist’s leftards. They’ve victimized these people for decades, soley for their votes. Welfare was suppose to be a hand up and a hand out instead it’s become a lifestyle, three generations of young women have availed themselves of cradle to grave welfare. Instead of devising a system which encourages these poor uneducated women to enrich their lives the socialist/liberals have kept them poor and needy soley to keep their institutions of tolerance and diversity(Welfare, social services etc) alive and thriving. They’ve created entire institutions to keep sections of soceity poor and the sole benifacter has been Liberal Government Institutions.
    For twelve years the Liberals amassed record surpluses in our social saftey nets (CPP, Veterns Affairs, UI etc) and did they spend any of that money aiding those using those programs? NO, our elderly are barely surviving. The mentally Ill roam our streets addicted to drugs and homeless, the left closed small option homes and institutions and gave the mentally ill “Disability Cheques” and set them free to suffer until they die horrible deaths. Veterns Affairs may as well be called: No You don’t qualify for any benifits now let me go count our surplus. Really a new leg for a WW11 is not needed, the nerve of these vets demanding we take care of them. I could blather on and on, but the leftards are not progressive. Look around your streets and the suffering you see is a result of a social experiment gone to shit because the left likes to pretend they care but do they put their money where their mouth is? Nope if they did billions in surplus dollars would of been spent on those they pontificate they protect and tolerate.
    The marxist and socialist and commies are made of the same ole stuff, fluff with no sustenance and intellect. God help us if we can’t stop their indoctornation of our young and feeble minded.

  32. It’s ironic that left-wingers have been regarded as “progressive” when in fact most if not all of the material progress over the past couple of hundred years has come from capitalism. Lately the “progressives” have got themselves into cushy non-productive taxpayer-paid jobs, and the standard of living has stagnated as a result.

  34. All I know about “dawg” is that when his partner was gravely ill, the only things I read from members here were kind, sympathetic, and supportive.
    Then, when this CHRC & Warman idiocy began, he was crowing, catcalling, and capering across the web, and generally using it to slam and denigrate people he didn’t agree with.
    That tells me all I need to know- that he’s a mean ( in both the modern and archaic sense of the word ) boorish sort.
