Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

our progeny will have a good laugh at the primitives of this time, thinking there gods. Just like we do the ones of old who gave themselves divine honors.
How the late 20th & early 21st century went mad with bogus chicken little scams.
Can’t help but wonder how much of AGW is ‘Urban Myth’. Those of us who live in urban settings live in such an artificial environment we can’t imagine any environment that is not massively changed by mankind. Those of us who live away from urban centres realize our insignificance and laugh at the whole idea.
This occured to me as I watched In the Shadow of the Moon as the returning astronauts expressed a newfound belief in ‘something greater’ that put everything in its place.
Recent item in the Vancouver Sun. (Part of which is clipped and appended below)
>>> Still, the ice cap is an isolated and expensive place to work, says Sharp, lamenting how transportation is eating a huge hole in the $706,000 federal grant financing the project. It cost $13,500 just to ship $2,000 worth of food to Devon for the research crews working on ice cap this summer. And the nearest rescue team is a two-hour flight away. “We’ll have a satellite phone,” says Tarasov, who has been briefed on how to fend off polar bears.
The upside is that Devon allows researchers to take a close look at the action — from the way the Belcher sucks in ice from slower moving parts of the ice cap, to the impact of ocean tides on iceberg calving.
“It’s an opportunity to look at every angle of the ice,” says Tarasov, who normally works in front of computers modelling ice sheets.http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/story.html?id=3fafdc4c-b659-4aed-8e33-0349d73b52dd
Hmmmmmm, only $706,000 they say? If they want ice, tell them to go to Winterpeg for Fux sake!!! I don’t pay taxes to send parasitic academics to watch ice melt!!
What is exceptional about the myth of man made global warming is it’s usefulness as a business model for Fat Albert Gore and it’s usefulness as an all new tax strategy for the opportunistic governments of the Western world.
You may have noted that this man made global warming scam and all it’s follies are the exclusive domain of the Western world. The rest of the planet is either ignoring it or is completely unaware of this big steaming pile of crap.
I bet they lie(no typo) awake at night wishing that the scam could have been cooling instead of warming. If only fossil fuels could somehow be blamed for cooling.
Because Global Cooling would have been a far better fear-mongering tool than Warming;
– arctic to freeze solid OR pleasant new sea coming ?
– an eight month long Canadian winter OR a four month one ?
– higher heating bills OR lower ones ?
– butt freezing camping OR semi tropical ?
– more tornadoes OR less severe storms because of warmer poles ?
– food scarcity OR more plentiful because plants grow better with more CO2 ?
Ahww yes, they should have waited for a cooling decade or two, had Hansen fudge the data to the colder side, turned Al Gore’s charts upside down and had a special on The Nature Of Things – Use Of Fossil Fuels To Freeze The Planet Solid. End Of The World. Repent.
They blew it !!
Can’t help but wonder how much of AGW is ‘Urban Myth’.
As an ex-snopes “insider” and possible icon for years (there’s lots of great, true stuff at the site), I can tell you that many of their contributors are (or seemed to be – I left a while ago) AGW believers. Oddly enough.
Excellent graphic, Kate. I think that I’ll slip over to Garth.ca and have him send over a couple of trolls to check it out. lol
The slippery slope theory is busted by Mother Nature. She is an ornery cuss.

“Greenland ice sheet slams the brakes on
Much noise has been made about how water lubricates the base of Greenland’s ice sheet, accelerating its slide into the oceans. In a rare “good news” announcement, climatologists now say the ice may not be in such a hurry to throw itself into the water after all. Mother Nature, it seems, has given it brakes.
Since 1991, the western edge of Greenland’s ice sheet has actually slowed its ocean-bound progress by 10%, say the team, who have studied the longest available record of ice and water flow in the region.”

I still don’t know what the big deal is – didn’t Amundson go through the northwest passage back in 1903? That would suggest that maybe global warming was happening way back then given the technology of the time to go through the passage it would have to have been a bit of ‘thin’ side of ice. Or maybe it was just another warming cycle that the earth undergoes every couple hundred of years.
Do people think the ice -never- melts up there or something? WTF?
Have none of these Leftie weenies ever watched a documentary of guys trying to reach the North Pole by dogsled or on skis or snowmobile or something? The season for doing that is the dead of winter, because when the temp peeks above -10F THE ICE MELTS. Every year. Not just from the edges, but the whole thing.
The crevasses get bigger and the pack ice starts to -move around-, so the explorer types go home until next year.
And how do nuclear subs surface up at the pole? Do they break through 200 feet of solid, permanent ice or something? Or do they wait until it MELTS and break through 10 feet of slush?
Retards.
So there I was, all stressed out because the fruitbats who brought us ‘earth hour’ had given canada a less than complimentary grade on our climate change efforts, (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080703.wglobal0703/BNStory/International/home when I stepped back from the brink of despair with the timely arrival of “mass hysteria” courtesy of the wall street journal (op ed 01 July 2008 – but behind a subscription firewall).
I guess this puts me firmly in the climate change deniers camp. My appointment at the re-education camp is scheduled sooner than I think….
I am still convinced that cyclic changes are evidence of cyclic changes. I am expecting the cycles to continue. The weather cycle of course, but also the scam cycles. No human effort can stop either.
