When it comes to equal opportunity slagging regarding financial matters, Andrew Coyne is as non-partisan as it gets.
Coyne says:
Altogether, these actual, honest-to-goodness tax cuts sum to about $9-billion, the bulk of it focused on the bottom tax brackets, where it will do the least good — in terms of raising productivity, I mean. The rest of what the Liberals call “tax cuts” are mostly for tax credits, ie spending programs by another name: $465 million for an “Improved Working Income Tax Benefit,” $397-million for an “Improved Employment Credit and Refundable Disability Credit,” and fully $2.9-billion for an entirely new Universal Child Benefit, on top of all the existing child benefits.
It’s not remotely “revenue neutral,” in other words. The Liberals have used the carbon tax to fund their spending ambitions. The productivity agenda has once again been ignored.
As anyone with a brain had already concluded, it isn’t about carbon, it’s about Canadians paying for a Liberal election platform.
Cheers,

Dion on Harper: “His attack ads turn Canadians off and will not work.”
As opposed to Liberal ads, showing emergency room chaos under a Harper gov’t, aircraft carriers, a young teenage girl suffering a nervous breakdown after Harper criminalizes abortion, a handgun pointing at the viewer, implying that handgun proliferation will result if the “long gun” registry is scrapped (targeted at 905 quasi-urban swing ridings). And who could forget soldiers in our streets?
Steffi, the Libs have a patent on attack ads which, unlike Tory truth ads, feature total lies.
Paradoxically those ads made the Libs look bad because it showed what they truly think of the voter – as uneducated and completely gullible.
BTW, just saw the Lib ad promoting their green shaft plan. It features Dion and the entire Lib caucus clapping their hands.
I think the director got it wrong and was probably in a rush to wrap things up. What it was supposed to show was the Libs not clapping, but rubbing their hands in glee at the prospect of a new revenue stream to finance their socialist agenda.
Thanks to “the mole,” I found one of the outakes that the Libs didn’t want released.

I just wish that the Conservatives would come out and call the Kyoto/global warming/climate change/GHG/carbon caps out and out bull manure. Have them tell the Canadian people it is all about being scared into submission. To be controlled. To be a slave to an elite minority.
Let them come out and say it and let the real debate begin. No more pussy footing around this issue and social engineering (that is what the Libs want).
I get PO’d knowing some friggin dweeb, who’s got the governments’ ear, that lives in an apartment, who’s whole life consists of a existence within one or two city blocks of his place trying to dictate to me how I should live my life so he can feel smug. What a crock. No way in Hades am I going to stay at home, when the great outdoors beckon, with my thumb up my arse because I am taxed to a financial limit in order to save the great outdoors when that same dweeb considers going outside his 2 block radius a safari.
I despise intellects such as Dion, if he can be called that, for their ideas is a waste of my hard earned money. Theory is one thing, reality is another and Mr. Dion et al are seriously short of it.
Well, I can say this for a fact. Beyond downtown latteville, the average resident of Ontario is starting to get a little worried.
Rising energy prices are at the top of the list, and their depreciating house values aren’t helping them sleep at night as well.
And, considering that 1 in 5 have no doctor, the libs are not going to be able to use that smoke screen in Ontario in the next federal election.
We just might see a shift to the right in this province, as bombardion’s tax grab could be the proverbial straw that will bust the lying librano’s back.
VOTE REFORM!
GO ARMY!
“…….rather than engage in an honest, thoughtful debate **about the most serious crisis facing the planet**.”
That’s the fourth time this week I’ve seen a Liberal member use that phrase. Fifteen plus years and we’re still talking about just a “PLAN”? A plan?? Puhleeze.
Anonymous: Perhaps they were ecstatic that there is finally a platform that they can go to the polls on, get a severe butt kicking from the voters and dump that little Napoleon for once and for all.
/just thinkin’
//course we could get Bob Rae with save the Planet phase II. (padlock your wallets)
It really is quite a simple plan. We will take 15 billion from you and then we will give it back to people with children and low incomes, minus administation costs and various other expenses, and then the planet will be saved. Brilliant,Professor Dion!!!
just saw the Lib ad promoting their green shaft plan. It features Dion and the entire Lib caucus clapping their hands.
“…a friend told me it only works if you want it to work, if you believe! I don’t know if I believe in it, clap your hands children if you believe in fairies!”

I saw that ad on Duffy’s show – it’s a stupid campaign and those liberals all look like they’re mentally ill, well, to support the “green shaft” scheme they have to be…
Just can’t picture Dion in a “tax shift”, I think
he’s more of a “tax jumper” kind of ‘guy’,
this will probably cause renewed interest in that
“little black tax skirt”.
Piper Paul … I believe that you friend is a Faeiry!
Who wouldn’t vote for higher taxes?
Wow, I knew it! I clicked ‘Post’ only once, so obviously there was something supernatural or queer going on that caused the double post (oops, sorry, that word doesn’t belong to us anymore).
