The Robson Square Witch Trials, as reported in the Washington Times. Elmasrey did not return their calls. Tarek Fatah did.
“If at all there will be a anti-Muslim backlash, it will be because the Canadian Islamic Congress and Mr. Elmasry contributed significantly to it,” Mr. Fatah told the Washington Times.
A practicing Muslim, Mr. Fatah accused the Canadian Islamic Congress of being agent provocateurs for Islamists by trying to provoke such a backlash.
“My feeling is – and I could be wrong – but they’re trying to trigger a backlash against Muslims, so that the imams and the Hamas and the Hezbollah people back in the Middle East can say: ‘Look, we told you that the West is at war with Islam,'” he said.

When Fatah leads a march of hundreds (I won’t impose an impossible goal of “thousands”) of moderate Muslims in protest against the Islamists and actually gets the media to pay attention, then I’ll really consider him a hero. At the moment, he has a ways to go, although I admit, he’s far more vocal than any other Muslim with a correct analysis. To hell with what Hamas and Hezbollah think. They’ve been saying such for eons already, anyway.
Was there ever any question of it? War and opression is all that these people know. It’s in the book!!!
Evil Brew!!
It’s good that the Washington Times is reporting this. It would be far better if, say, the Washington Post and the New York Times were reporting it.
The fact that neither of them (nor, as far as I can tell, any other major newspaper) is doing so is just one of the ways that the MSM demonstrates its lack of objectivity (as now perceived by the majority of Americans, as Kate notes two posts before this one).
This problem, the demands, the supremacy is world wide. In Canada the Muslim sock puppet for the Canadian Islamic Congress has an offer we can’t refuse:
“Muslims must ‘demand that right to participate’ in national media, Khurrum Awan, the primary witness in the Maclean’s magazine hate speech hearing, told a weekend conference of the Canadian Arab Federation. … And we have to tell them, you know what, if you’re not going to allow us to do that, there will be consequences. You will be taken to the human rights commission, you will be taken to the press council, and you know what? If you manage to get rid of the human rights code provisions [on hate speech], we will then take you to the civil courts system. And you know what? Some judge out there might just think that perhaps it’s time to have a tort of group defamation, and you might be liable for a few million dollars,”
[…]
“Mr. Awan described his increasingly high-profile struggle “against particular elements in media that are misusing and abusing their responsibility” in writing about Islam.”
[…]
“He said that the argument for limitless free speech ‘is really a far-right Republican argument that is being imported into this country.’ ”
[…]
“So the only practical remedy that is available are the human rights commissions,” he said, calling it ‘the only process in which you as the complainant have control.’ ”

I love Mr Fatah’s comments re judges vs jokers. I believe that those who have bought into the whole HRC program are unamenable to debate (as am I!).
Tarek said:””My feeling is – and I could be wrong – but they’re trying to trigger a backlash against Muslims, so that the imams and the Hamas and the Hezbollah people back in the Middle East can say: ‘Look, we told you that the West is at war with Islam,'” he said.”
Well, he’s right. Canadians who were raised to respect the multitude of the world’s religions have been willing, until recently, to cut Islam some slack in order for the faithful to acknowledge their beliefs. No more.
For me at least, Islam begins and ends with the images of a thousand years of history blown to dust; with the “faithful” putting a gun to the head of a poor woman and pulling the trigger. With the beheadings and the seemingly endless “demands” for “respect” coupled with threats, like Awan’s above, and the Pakistanis in Europe:
My comment to Awan is simple: I have no respect to give to you. Find something else to believe in, or take your beliefs elsewhere. They are not welcome in my world.
Well, the Canadian Muslim community should take a PR hit for this. They don’t emerge with clean hands unless they disavow Elmasry and his sock puppets. Those four usefull idiot Sock Puppets are among the best and brightest of their community, university educated, in Law, for God’s sake, and have had all of the blessings a free, affluent, safe and secular society bestowed upon them. It didn’t matter. They’ve created the suspicion that political Islam, no matter the level of outward sophistication, can never be assimilated into a free society.
I’m with Louise, when I see a Million Man Muslim march denouncing the Islamists or a full page newspaper ad saying that “they don’t speak for us” then I’ll be impressed. Too bad the four well educated Sock Puppets didn’t use their youth and privileged status in Canadian society to that end.
It’s clear from the article referenced by Sounder above, that Awan has learned absolutely nothing from the humiliation he has dragged his religion through. He even admits that what may play out is that section 13.1 might be removed….. then he can try a “class action” approach.
Seems a bit deluded.
Whatever. It’s all good. This issue needs to be made front and centre with the public. That’s the only way awareness of the problem can emerge and lead to change. Most of the social engineering changes made by the Trudeaupians in the last generation were by stealth. So, if Awan wants to continue to be El Masry’s well-dressed sock puppet for the next five years, I welcome that.
We have nothing to fear from an open debate.
Another interesting point from that article:
“Speaking to a crowded lecture hall at a downtown Toronto civic building, Mr. Awan said he had difficulty drumming up support until Ms. Hall called Maclean’s Islamophobic, and then “everyone wanted to be our uncle.”
So, in other words, as usual it’s the self-appointed NON-muslim guardians of fairness that enable the problem more than anyone else.
“Well, he’s right. Canadians who were raised to respect the multitude of the world’s religions have been willing, until recently, to cut Islam some slack in order for the faithful to acknowledge their beliefs. No more.”
Watcing Hamas flag carrying rabid screaming freaks at the Toronto “Peace Rally” during the Israel/Lebanon war 3 summers ago point at me and draw their finger across their throats while smiling did it for me.
Awan is ‘thinking’ in the statist mode, where he considers that information and knowledge is controlled by the state. He’s wrong.
His insistence that ‘Muslims must demand a right to participate in national media’ is totally wrong. Our newspapers and magazines are private; they aren’t controlled by the state. No group, religious, ethnic or national, has any right to control over that media. An individual can write an article for submission to that newspaper or magazine – and if it’s rejected – that’s the way it is. There is no such thing as a ‘right to be published’.
Awan is ignoring that he and his fellow activists were indeed published in Canada’s national (privately owned) newspapers. They were on television, both the private and the public. This is not a right but a privilege. If that media system doesn’t want them – that’s tough.
And Awan’s attempt to define free speech as ‘reprehensible because it is American’ is in itself, a reprehensible action. Free speech happens to be an ancient Greek concept (remember Socrates?) It is the basis of western civilization, the ground for the tremendous innovative capacity of the west.
Furthermore, Awan’s attempt to silence we who critique Islam, ignores that such a rule would mean that Muslims, such as Elmasry, who urge mass murder of Jews and other violence, ought to be silenced.
I see Tarek’s point; that this Set of Muslims are trying to create a backlash against Muslims, so they can defined themselves as hapless victims – and demand more and more special compensations and special treatment..rather than integrating into western society.
Tarek Fatah consistently speaks out against the CIC and for that he must be applauded. Canada needs thousands more like him, courageous Muslims who will vocalize opposition to political islam and not just sit in the shadows waiting for someone else to organize an internal backlash against radical imams and islamist dogma.
The “internal uprising”, however, is what many Canadians are looking for before they begin to place any further trust in the Muslim community. For if so-called moderate Muslims themselves cannot rise up en masse and overthrow the so-called radical message of the CIC et al, then Canadians have a right and duty to question just how strong is the voice of moderation in the Muslim community and whether that moderate voice is the “true voice” of islam.
Fatah’s point about CIC fomenting a backlash is altogether moot given the islamist nutjobs in the Middle East consider opposition to sharia and islamic statehood as anti-islam based on their view that true islam is political islam, that it’s more than just the spiritual component, and that you can’t separate the two. Rejecting sharia in Ontario is a backlash by ME islamist definitions. Under their terms, the West is absolutely at with the islam.
Canadians need to wake up and realize that islamists see no separation between spiritual and political islam; to them, there is only islam and it governs all of society, emphasize ALL. Opposing any aspect of islam, TO THEM, is to be anti-Muslim.
That, my friends, is why we are in a war with islam whether we like it or not. We’re in it because of the WAY THEY DEFINE IT. It’s already started, it’s already on, simply because we will not (and should not, ever) either recognize or legitimize political islam.
ET writes, “Awan is ‘thinking’ in statist mode, where he considers that information and knowledge is controlled by the state.”
Awan, if you ask me, thinks like an islamist in this regard, for the ultimate goal of political islam is exactly what he demands.
Awan use to be the head of the youth wing of the CIC, so that tells you where he is coming from and which organization it is coming from. Not that this matters just that it helps to understand background. But it does mean he is nursing a major issue and will continue to nurse it for the rest of his life, it is how he is defining himself.
As for the class action approach. I actually would have encouraged him to follow that. Clear rules, clear tests and it would be done in a real court, albeit a civil one with lower standards of proof, not evidence but proof. The charter would have been in play on this approach as well. So as far as I can tell it would have been a reasonable playing field.
My main issue is the process is totally broken and is geared to yield a certain result, hardly what one defines as justice, since justice is at least as much about process as it is about end result.
So go ahead Arwan, go that direction. It is your right to do so, but I would suggest you better get tighter on your prep, your procedures and knowledge of the rules….just where did you finish in your class anyway…I am betting bottom quartile.
Assimilation the Elmasry way:
By Mohamed Elmasry (Friday, April 6, 2007)
http://tinyurl.com/6htsco
“The problem — indeed, the universal dilemma — facing Muslims is how to preserve their culture and values within their heritage, while integrating them with the culture and values of the rest of the world. It has now become a matter of survival for the Muslim world to pay attention to decolonizing Islamic culture. This must be done through proactively protecting language, religion and tradition — in that order.”
“First of all, no decolonialization can be possible if Muslims do not begin by reclaiming the languages they use, the religion they practice, the traditions they follow and the social system that produces and influences these three factors, particularly through education and the media.”
“Muslims urgently need to devise a grand collective plan for the next 10 to 20 years.”
“As we have seen, the impact of Western culture upon Muslims has assailed the very foundations of our society by undermining traditional and extended family dynamics, and by introducing an education system that reflects non-Islamic ideals and aims.”
Question: Then why do you come to the west?
“My feeling is – and I could be wrong – but they’re trying to trigger a backlash against Muslims, so that the imams and the Hamas and the Hezbollah people back in the Middle East can say: ‘Look, we told you that the West is at war with Islam,'” he said.”
I don’t think so. I believe what they are attempting to do coincides with the UN’s agreement to the OIC demands to protect “religions” (read Islam, the only religion mentioned in the new bill) against blasphemy and insult. This B.S. bill was adopted by the UN this spring.
It is shariah.
However, and more importantly, what they are attempting to do is block the investigation and criticism of the foundationally violent Islamic ideology. It’s not hard to prove that the Islamic trilogy doesn’t just incite violence, theft, rape and murder against non-Muslims, it demands and rewards it. If the majority of westerners were to become aware of this truth, one would think that would lead to legislation and limitations against it.
Sadly the US government has already started paving the road to hell in its instructions for US agencies not to use words that would offend Muslims. Eventually, looking at a Muslim cross-eyed will be a hanging offense.
By the way, I linked to your article from Mark Steyn on trial – why it`s OK to hate
This “Set of Muslims” are out to create havoc and they’ve found the venue. It fits perfectly into their plan to push for Sharia to be added to our laws.
The only way for zealots to even come close to integrating with our Democracy is if they have their strict, sexist religious rules entrenched into our laws.
Elmasry, a professor in one of our Universities, (if that isn’t scary enough), should have been sent packing long ago. His name keeps popping up, he has an agenda, this latest case on the HRC Kangaroo Court docket is proof they’re up to no good. Why wasn’t he sent before the HRC when he said every Jew over 18 was a legitimate target?
Thanks to Trudeau and decades of wrong headed immigration policies, we’re in one hell of a mess and it hasn’t even peaked yet, just festering.
The position of Chief ‘Roo in AB is open until the end of June.
Pay is a cool (up to) $184K. However, one criterion is that the applicant must be eligible as a member of the Law Society of Alberta.
If this position is filled, and it is filled by a lawyer – change within the AB HRC is all but sealed and the ‘Roos will roooll in perpetuity. No doubt backed by the AB minister of justice who, herself, is a human rights activist.
In the event you would like something a little less onerous – you too could have been an HRC Investigor for $55K-$75K but unfortunately, applications have closed.

He is a prof at the University of Waterloo, and is the reason I will NOT donate as an alumni.
Penny, your precision with the term “political Islam” is commendable. People need to understand is their criticism is not directed at Muslims going about their daily lives, here because they want the same peace order and good government we want. They are the vast majority. The few think in political/religious terms, and though they use modern and sophisticated means, they are not that far removed from 12th century popes with armies.
The very few are those Muslims who do act like 12th century popes. We needed to reform, so does political Islam. Will it anytime soon? Or shall we just fall back on the tired anti-west argument, personified by Dubya. I’ll believe that the next time a clergyman has his own army and sends out suicide bombers. Or if one of those a******s is standing beside Dubya, advising him.
Awan, et al stand with the very few, albeit without overt threat of violence. They think they can impose their views on others, to force them to see their side of the argument, or they will find a judge to make it happen. Man, I was waiting for the Dean grunt … we’ll fight them in Vancouver, we’ll fight them at the press council, we’ll take our tort to court … aarg.”
Give it a rest, buddy. This section 13 stuff has got to go, it’s setting us against each other, exactly what it’s supposed to stop. As for tort judges, I think there’s far more out there willing to stop this inquisition style process.
In the end, again in an ironic way, we’re all going to be better off for having gone through it. Maybe that’s what Steyn, Levant et al want, rather than just being hateful or “disparaging” (my personal favourite).
Lori said, “So, in other words, as usual it’s the self-appointed NON-muslim guardians of fairness that enable the problem more than anyone else.”
Exactly what Mark Steyn’s article and book say!
The Washington Times did not go far enough, but they did link US Commerce to a Canadian Tribunal. The Muslim issue is secondary IMO
The NAFTA provides for a “Three Judge Panel” to adjudicate cases of judicial misconduct. This can reach all the way to the Supreme level!
The law was needed to protect Canadian Investors from the political, Good ole boy, courts in the USA. Now! we need them for the slease in Canada.
Hey I agree with Khurrum Awan – Muslims should be allowed to participate in the national media – at a ratio equivalent to their prevalence in the population, about 1/4 of one percent(700,000). This should happen immediately after social conservatives are allowed to participate in the national media in their ratio of about 25% (8 million).
Oops, bad arithmatic, make that 2.5% Muslims vs 25% social conservatives.
Fritz, now that you have pointed out some demography, you’ve committed a hate crime. Just ask Steyn.
In todays Post Awan said that the argument for limitless free speech “is really a far-right Republican argument that is being imported into this country.”
Who is this Islamist zealot to say this? What a pompous, arrogant ass. He, who presumably comes from a totalitarian Islamist country, telling us what our history is about.
There must not be any place in this country for this type of first stage jihadist. An immigrant Islamist having the gumption to redefine our history and freedom, fought for by our soldiers, is not welcome here. Neither is his deceptive attempt to renegotiate our laws to accommodate the primitive and savage filth known as shariah.
He can go to hell.
Unfortunately irwin daisy, your intellectually superior, nanny state, self loathing elitists will be telling you where to go.
Damn right limitless free speech is a Republican issue, I’m one. Our First and Second Amendments would be better exports to the world than the slop that comes out of Hollywood.
Awan, a privileged child of all the freedoms and prosperity that Canada lavished on him and his immigrant parents, returns the favor by requesting pretty much what his fascist co-religionists desire, the dismantlement of those values that are incompatible with Islam.
He’s a disgusting creep. These stupid kids overplayed their hand. It’s too bad an enraged media isn’t up to dealing out the public smack down they deserve. But, there is justice in that Google never forgets the infamous. He’s got no law career that isn’t bonded to lame lefty fringe firms that service the victim industry and let’s hope that stops on a dime as the public becomes more disgusted.
Aside from the isolated cases (so far) of Muslims sprinkling Muslim feces on foodstuffs destined to be sold to non-Muslims in foodstores in Great Britain and the USA, the Islamists in Canada have deicded to STIR UP SH!T instead of springling it on our food. In the final analysis, the objective is the same – to make Canada’s non-Muslim population eat the sh!t of the Muslim minority. It is NOT going to happen. Nor are we going to remove the Holocaust from our schoolbooks because it “offends Muslim sensibilities.” Nor are we going to stop decorating and celebrating Xmas. No are we going to stop telling jokes, including jokes about Islam and its pedophile alleged prophet.
Islam is NOT only a religion, that is increasingly recognized. Then why does our government continue to extend the same privileges and tax breaks enjoyed by purely religious institutions to Islamic ones. As long as “Islam” also is a social justice and political agenda, “Islam” does not “qualify” as a “religion” in the western traditional sense.
STOP ANY AND ALL TAX BREAKS TO ISLAMIC INSTITUTIONS. STOP ALL TAX EXEMPT STATUS PROVISIONS FOR MOSQUES.
Until Islam has “reformed itself” into being “just a religion”, THAT is how we should handle this whole question.
it is war and you will have to fight. unless of course you wish to bend over and kiss your ass goodbye.
Colby Cosh:
“Khurrum Awan believes Muslims are positively entitled to a “voice”—a voice printed with somebody else’s ink on somebody else’s paper, delivered to homes by means of somebody else’s employees and somebody else’s internet infrastructure.”
“It seems to occur to none of them to muck in and start up their own Daily Jihad that reflects the opposing views.”

I think the agenda is to maintain the Liberal idea of Canada as a hotel – and this hotel is owned and serviced by the Liberals. This means that Canada is understood as a geographic terrain rather than a nation, with a history, a set of shared developed and developing beliefs and behaviour, a common rule of law, a single constitution etc.
Instead, the Liberals have gradually evolved a system of maintaining themselves in power by focusing on the massive Canadian immigrant population in particular, of the last 40 years.
They have set up this population as merely moving the population to a vacant land, to benefit from the industrial well-being of the surroundings, the technology, the freedom. The immigrants operate as a group, closed, isolated and maintaining their original language, beliefs and behaviour.
But this is a Dependent population. In a manner of speaking, this population is actually enslaved by the Liberal government. (This is a Hegelian Master, Slave political relation).
The immigrant population are isolated from the resident Canadian population and from other groups. They are not expected to integrate. Indeed, they are prevented from integrating by an insistence that they keep their old identity – whether this identity is ethnic, religious, linguistic.
The Liberal Party funds them to keep and maintain this isolation, this lack of assimilation, this lack of integration. They become dependent on both funding and acceptance by the government of their ‘unique identity’. The Liberal Party sets up legal assistance to enable them to maintain their isolation in multiple closed groups.
They are unable to mingle and interact and collaborate with other immigrants.
What is the benefit to the Liberals? Power. These many, many groups, each isolate from the other, each dependent on the govt for money, for security to remain isolate – they used to donate Millions to the Liberal Party. Before the rules were changed a few years ago, permanent residents – not even citizens – could donate up to 10,000 to the Party. This money and these votes kept the Liberal Party in power for decades.
Did it do any good to the immigrant? Absolutely not. Keeping people locked into group identities rather than focusing on them as individuals, maintaining group identities as mirrors of old country values and contexts, rejecting any actions of integration and collaboration with people from other groups – the Liberal Agenda greatly harmed the immigrants. And it harmed Canada.
But it kept the Liberal party in money and power.
Now – the rule is changed. The individual, whether permanent resident or citizen, can only donate up to 1,100 per person. Not the old 10,000. So, the money isn’t rolling in – but -the dependency of master and slave was set up and it’s hard to break.
Pretty good description of Fiberal immigration policy. I would add that they foist this off on the Canuckistani public as ‘necessary’ to maintain our retirement fund that they (the Gliberals) destroyed. If a private enterprise behaved the way the immigration/pension scam works they would be convicted of running a ponzi scheme.
What’s so complicated for Muslims about integrating into a society they choose to come to live in as citizens?
In Canada they have all the Rights and Freedoms they never could dream of in the Islamic Theocracies many of them came from. They have freedom to practice their faith, and all other freedoms as dictated by the Trudeau Charter. In return they should respect our laws, work to sustain themselves and contribute to and defend this country.
But most of all they should mind their own goddamned business as to changing our way of life and laws to satisfy their religious beliefs, mainly to control their own people, especially their women who the fanatics treat as second class. It’s shameful to see women in our streets wearing total cover burkas, that’s not integrating, that’s shunning.
They have a common sense option, join us or get out and fight their battles where they came from.
Awad is a slummist Ahole
(You have to wonder what he says to his close muzzie pals in private.)
Yes, Khurrum Awan’s a pompous ass–or better yet, a pampered poodle. (I wonder if Mr. Awan knows that the English word “cur” means “worthless or snappy DOG”. What an apt name and description for such a preening poseur! “Haye”, this is fun!)
Most of us here at SDA–law abiding, proud (well, we used to be) Canadians–are here precisely because our ideas have been seriously (and serially) ignored and/or grossly warped and misrepresented by the MSM for DECADES. And this Johhny Come Lately thinks he’s the only one? And then snaps his fingers–or rubs his magic lamp, perhaps–demanding the whole modus operandi of the media change for HIM?
The ignorance and arrogance of this adult toddler are disgusting.
I’m a tolerant person–but within reason. My forebears–here over 200 years ago: some were actaully lawyers when that profession had some cachet–built and fought for this country. And these courageous, no-nonsense, often-do-without, “for God and Monarch” patriots sure didn’t do it for a dangerous, emotional baby like Mr. Awan.
As far as I’m concerned, he should go back to the benighted country his parents left. He’s NOT welcome here. Good riddance.(Unfortunately, in my dreams.)

Well said!
I would add to…. “and this hotel is owned and serviced by the Liberals”..+..”and funded by the rest of us”.
It reminds me of the U2 lead multimillionaire singer Bono who is always proud to state “I don’t give of my own money, but I do give of my time”.
It must be nice to be wealthy, powerful, and able to buy your penance into heaven by saving the world one everyone else’s dime, no?
I’m pleased that PM Harper showed that a-hole the door (great music though).
Yes, BRAVA, ET!
folks
I’ll not disagree on the posts about the muslim nonsense, but that not the issue. Muslims are using a system (chrc) that has been put into place by OUR gov’t, not by the muslims, they are only using it to their advantage.
It’s our goverment that is the problem!!!!
Well, GYM, I think they’re BOTH a problem. One allows exploitation and the other takes advantage, both on the backs of the rest of us.
A pox on both their houses, I’d say.
I really wish Mark Steyn to be acquitted. Then case closed, let’s never talk about this story again.
But no… Steyn and Macleans have say they want to be convicted. They want to be martyrized.
I am 100% sure all this trial please Mark Steyn a lot. He is in the media all around the world. He is like a rock star. Free publicity for his book. How many thousands copies he sold with all that free publicity?
It just happens to be a great book you poor ill informed sepratist, and it can stand on its own unlike the Quebecers who need the roughnecks of Alberta to send your lazy asses transfer payments so you can make love with your faces all day instead of gaining some pride and working. While we are at war with the muslims we might as well throw your lazy ass out to.
Not me at 12:46, too articulate and not over the top enough 😉
“Steyn and Macleans have say they want to be convicted. They want to be martyrized.”
They don’t want to lose so they can be “martyrized.” They want to lose so they can appeal and have a real court tear the HRC to shreds.
You know this can be fixed. I think we in the colonies have had enough. Let’s throw off the yolk of Ottawa and the liberals. We could make a real constition with property rights, the right to free speech, and sensible imagration laws,no more multicult BS. Only then will we be able to meet this Islamic threat head-on. We are asking the good people of Western Canada to come up with a name for our new Country. My choice is Westria. Come on now who’s with us?
Dear “atheist quebecois separatiste”:
First, which of 3 names represents something positive? Just askin’.
Unlike you, I actually met Mark Steyn last week. Never met him before, might not ever meet him again. Just met him on the street in front of a Starbucks, quite by accident. Had a good chat with him for about 5 minutes.
I’m a pretty good judge of people and I can guarantee you that he was not pleased AT ALL by what was going on. The words “dismayed” and “exasperated” would be better descriptions. He also looked very, very tired.
On his website tonight I see that he’s taking a much needed break. If he heads back to Quebec let’s hope he doesn’t run into the likes of you!
The Toronto Sun gets it??

(Elmasry says) “…the impact of Western culture upon Muslims has assailed the very foundations of our society by undermining traditional and extended family dynamics, and by introducing an education system that reflects non-Islamic ideals and aims.”
Question: Then why do you come to the west?
Posted by: Sounder at June 9, 2008 12:31 PM
================================================
Precisely.
There is already a large swath of the world where Islam flowers and Sharia is the law of the land. I understand that about a billion-and-a-half Muslims live there. Any Muslim residing here in the West who feels that our freedoms (or our habits/ speech/ cartoons/ newspapers/ schools/ manner of dress/ women’s lib/ gay rights/ religious choice/ whatever-else) impinge upon his “religious sensitivities” should be cordially invited to get his {nether parts} back to one of those Islamic Paradises where Islam is respected (or else!), and Sharia enforces Allah’s rules.
Western culture doesn’t need to change to accommodate Islam. Islam has a home. Islam’s home is not here. If you don’t feel “at home” in the West, then GO HOME where you fit in.
If you DO come to the West to live, you need to adopt the values we consider essential to our culture. These include democracy, equality, and freedom. We believe in equal rights for everyone (women included). We have freedom of conscience and religion – for everyone. We have broad freedoms of expression: we can draw pictures or cartoons of whoever we want. We can write articles criticizing anybody else’s viewpoint. We can mock anybody, even religious figures. We are free to analyze, dissect and critique any belief or ideology.
If you believe your Muslim identity is threatened by Western impiety, you are free to find a more accommodating country. I’ll bet we could even find some deep-pocketed donors to establish a fund to pay your way to the Sharia-loving nation of your choice. (Bye!)
We are independent and stubborn, we like our culture just the way it is, and we intend to keep it that way. YOU need to adapt to US, or leave. It’s as simple as that.
A_Nonny_Mouse, I’m with you in spirit. But some of the particulars of your rosy view of Canada are mere fiction these days.
E.g., I’m an observant Christian and my freedoms have definitely been severely truncated for quite some time now. Unless I’m anonymous, I keep many of my views to myself–views which I published broadly just a decade ago. How about the HRCs? How about their Christian martrys? What do you think of this?
The left has turned this country into a gulag. Its alliance with the Muslims is both obscene and terrifying. What do you think of that?
Kyrie eleison.
