A note to those of you who take the time to send me your links and your private comments – and who don’t get a response, or wonder why I don’t use them. It’s usually just a matter of available time, space, and energy. Sometimes the story has been covered in abundance elsewhere, (and sometimes I’ve already used it and you didn’t notice). But, I do want you all to know that your efforts are appreciated. I wish I had time to acknowledge everything sent my way, but I’d never get any work done – much less blogging!

And then they wrote a stern letter to a country called Niger
By Ezra Levant on March 21, 2008
First, a member of the Canadian Jewish Congress’s legal committee found swastika graffiti scrawled on the wall of a bathroom. Graffiti in a bathroom, dear reader!
Then, the Canadian Jewish Congress found out that a lake community in Ontario was named Swastika. A lake!
They demanded that the lake community answer for its obvious bigotry — if not, I presume, they would be summoned to the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
Reader, how do you think the citizens of Swastika feel now about the Canadian Jewish Congress? How do you think they feel about Jews? And what do you think Canadian Jews should think about this embarrassing organization speaking on our behalf?

What’s in a name? One hundred years of pride

What is in a name? In the case of Swastika there is a proud 100 year history of hard working people who helped open up Northern Ontario.
This summer, Swastika will be holding a big celebration to mark its 100th anniversary. The last thing they need is an outside organization raising controversy about the community’s name.
The Canadian Jewish Congress is a very respected organization but when it comes to Swastika they missed the mark.

Dildo, NL. He cracks me up!
GYM, had you spent a little more time on your studies in that “kristian” school, and a little less on being the self centered pompous ass, at least perhaps you may have learned to spell, and to show some respect for the beliefs and views of others.
The beliefs of Christians shaped their values, and you enjoy the fruits of that every day. Whether you like it or not, the reason you are able to write the disparaging remarks that you just did is because this country was and is guided by Christian principles.
Maybe you don’t believe that Jesus Christ died for you, but I’m pretty sure that a goodly number of Canadian soldiers died, many of them holding those Christian values which you so imperiously dismiss, so that you can safely sit at a keyboard and hammer out your mis-spelled and misguided self righteous tripe. So don’t you dare say “NO ONE DIED BECAUSE OF, OR FOR ME”. The statement only shows that you are both morally and intellectually bankrupt.
There has indeed been a lot of evil done in the name of religion, and there will be more to follow. Far more in the name of religions other than Christianity. And all by those who weren’t acting on behalf of their religious beliefs, but rather on their own sense of self-importance.
I’m not a church going Christian, and I’m far from a zealot, but I have had it with those who live a full rich life BECAUSE of Christian beliefs and principles, calling it names and not giving it respect.
So, to say it in a shorter, more concise manner, using little words that you may be able to comprehend GYM: You sir, are an ass.

Dion has a priceless opportunity to raise his stature and the Liberal Party stature as well.
Demonstrating great grace and maturity, he could state that his not very fluid English makes him less than ideal as Liberal leader at this time. Therefore he will resign and make way for a more effective Liberal Party leader. = TG
