Notoriously, the infant mortality rate…

… is twice as high in the lowest social class as in the highest. But the infant mortality rate of illegitimate births is twice that of legitimate ones, and the illegitimacy rate rises steeply as you descend the social scale: so the decline of marriage almost to the vanishing point in the lowest social class might well be responsible for most of its excess infant mortality. It is a way of life, not poverty per se, that kills.

  1. A must read from :
The ultimate Nurse Nanny State ….
Norway hopes that robot technology will save them in their old age from the consequences of socialism and uncontrolled immigration.
After the utopian blather about how this is going to work the article finishes off with a real flourish!
Revealing that according the wisdom of Norway’s deep thinkers the root cause of their problem is The Successful Economy!
    I kid you not!

  2. charles macdonald – if the Iranian govt had simply dropped tribalism and moved to create a middle class in a civic government, then, the people wouldn’t be reduced to ‘fictional local power’ by coming up with ‘local Mahdis’. The people would have power over their own economy and governance.

  3. Debauchment* of the Canadian people:
the state owned propaganda machine combines with an MSM conglomerate . The end result: the Liberal-NDP Gong Show. This is in effect a Stalinist show trial.
The cbc/msm have moved beyond telling Canadians what to think; they are now manufacturing “news”.
To cap it off, the cbc/msm reports the results on its networks.

  4. Cal2:”what happened to the frozen children case at yellowquill sask.”?
It seems nobody in law enforcement or media has the stomach to push this to a proper conclusion. The children’s grandma is happy it’s all over and their mom is due in April. Pity that child, especially if it has XX chromosomes.
Those girls were disposables. Remember Tamara Keepness? Same deal. They were born to be victims.

  5. Mulroney has an explanation for what the CBC and Globe put out about him.
    http://mulroneymediaroom.com/
“…claimed in a front page story today that Mr. Mulroney never worked for Thyssen A.G., the German parent of Thyssen Canada.
While true, it is a puzzling new line of attack as no one, including Mr. Mulroney, has ever claimed that he worked for Thyssen A.G.
As their earlier story, and Mr. Mulroney’s testimony before the House of Commons Ethics committee made clear, he was retained as a consultant by Thyssen Bear Head industries, (later known as Thyssen Canada) by its then Chairman Karl-Heinz Schreiber, a contract that Mr. Schreiber has described and attested to under oath.
Some documents relating to the story, several reported by the Globe itself previously, but curiously missing from today’s coverage….”
    “Joe Comartin:
You didn’t see yourself as an employee of Thyssen.
    Brian Mulroney:
No, I was an international consultant.”
Much more at the link, that was up before Don Newman’s presentation of events today.

  6. What is Liberal Citoyen Dion’s Taliban policy today?
    Cut’n’Run; Surrender.

“Dion emerged from this meeting firm in his position that Canadian troops should not be engaged in combat past 2009.”

“But what the Liberals are doing out of sophistry and political self-absorption will get your sons and daughters killed.”
“If Liberals are trying to spare Canadian lives – by venturing passively, ducking into calmer territory and promoting reconstruction in the absence of a secure environment – an anti-combat insistence is utterly without merit.”

  7. A prize-winning paper from a Hebrew University researcher, seeking to explain the paucity of rapes by Israeli soldiers of Palestinian women, concluded that the soldiers were merely using a “strategy” of non-rape, according to a December report on Arutz Sheva. Such a hands-off policy “strengthens the ethnic boundaries,” wrote Ms. Tal Nitzan, seemingly suggesting that Israeli soldiers primarily feared increasing the Palestinian population. Nowhere, critics pointed out, did Nitzan suggest that rape is rare because Israeli culture condemns it. [Arutz Sheva (Israeli National News), 12-23-07]

Migawd, ET, honestly your naivity is sometimes breathtaking. Translation: if the totalitarian Mullahs rejected the notion of running a totalitarian police state ….. If the Bolsheviks had rejected the notion of running a totalitarian police state … if evil men weren’t evil …

  9. me no dhimmi – you are misunderstanding me. I wasn’t commenting on a tautology of events.
I was suggesting an explanation of WHY the people in Iran were, on their own, creating narratives about local ‘saints’ or ‘mythic figures’, ie, these LOCAL heroes or Mahdis. I was suggesting that a people without power to affect changes in their lives, will dream up images about power-agents that are strictly local, outside of the zone of the central govt.
It’s like putting up a ‘magical image’ in your backyard, with that image having power only in that spatial area. It is interesting to see how a population reduced to having no power in their lives, will, on their own, dream up local Heroes and magical forces.
    OK?

  10. Man, no comments on the recent implosion of Billary’s campaign? She didn’t just lose on the weekend; she got trounced. Obama may be economically , diplomatically, and geopolitically challenged, but he projects an authenticity that Shrillary can never hope to achieve. She’s so calculating, I bet that night she cried, she jabbed herself with a pin under the table first.
The question is who will obama choose as a running mate? Can’t see him picking Swillary, and I wonder if he could tolerate that prancing haircut, Edwards? Bill Richardson actually seems like a reasonable person when I’ve seen him on TV, so I guess that means he has no shot. Maybe Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton to balance the ticket?
