It’s a quagmire;

Democrats made the anti-Iraq crusade their top priority in the new Congress. Now, the 70-vote approval of the war by the Senate represents the breathtaking dimension of their failure.”

Three of history’s best charts.
Liberal Press Release: “Mr. Gore and Mr. Dion shared their thoughts on hating America and about the positions of both Canada and the United States here at the Bali talks. They also discussed their alarmist efforts to further bludgeon their media friends to help further their one world socialist agenda. One tax, one world.”

  1. Prince Charles will be attending a climate conference in Abu Dhabi as a hologram, raising serious protocol concerns: “Protocol forbids two Royals from being on the same stage, and so the whole thing was coming into question,” Mr Sims said.
“I was at a very eye-opening meeting at which they were asking ‘Do we allow two Royals on the same stage at the same time?’
“Because Prince Charles isn’t actually going to be there, it was decided that this did not breach protocol.
But they said they might have to rewrite protocol to take holograms into account in the future.”

  2. Remember the howls of outrage from the Canadian Council of Muslim Women after the honour killing of Aqsa Parvez in Toronto?
No? Well here’s how much taxpayers cash they got in 06-07 according to the Public Accounts:
Canadian Council of Muslim Women, $263,298
Their mission statement reads “…committed to the equality, equity, and empowerment of Muslim women.”

  3. Here’s a decent appointment for a decent Canadian. Compare and contrast the Harper vice regal appointments with those of his librano predecessors; there is no comparison and all contrast. John Crosbie, a lawyer and businessman with many years of public service (and good entertainment value in the HOC) versus CBC hack socialist/separatist Michaelle Jean, and CBC hack dowager elitist Clarkson.

  4. WL Mackenzie Redux re “New Left” — cute, except for the comment re Margaret Trudeau. Not needed. Give her a break. She had her own problems with Pierre to deal with. For all we know she may be a Conservative these days.

  5. OttRob: McWhimpy can do whatever he bloody well pleases. The braindeads of Ontario gave him a whopping Majority for four years, they just love the guy. All complaints will fall on deaf ears. It really is very quiet in Ontario now, no room to bitch.

  6. Senior Qaeda Theologian Urges His Followers To End Their Jihad
WASHINGTON — One of Al Qaeda’s senior theologians is calling on his followers to end their military jihad and saying the attacks of September 11, 2001, were a “catastrophe for all Muslims.”
In a serialized manifesto written from prison in Egypt, Sayyed Imam al-Sharif is blasting Osama bin Laden for deceiving the Taliban leader, Mullah Omar, and for insulting the Prophet Muhammad by comparing the September 11 attacks to the early raids of the Ansar warriors. The lapsed jihadist even calls for the formation of a special Islamic court to try Osama bin Laden and his old comrade Ayman al-Zawahri.
The disclosures from Mr. Sharif, also known as Dr. Fadl and Abd al-Qadir ibn Abd al-Aziz, have already opened a rift at the highest levels of Al Qaeda. The group’s deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri, a former associate of the defecting theologian in Egypt, personally mocked him last month in a video, remarking that he was unaware Egyptian prisons had fax machines. Meanwhile, leading Western analysts are saying the defection of Mr. Sharif indicates the beginning of the end for Al Qaeda.
The author of “Inside Al Qaeda,” Rohan Gunaratna said in an interview this week, “There is nothing more important than a former jihadist as important as Dr. Fadl criticizing the jihadist vanguard.” …-

  8. Does anyone keep tab on how much JP-4 is consumed and how many emissions the 747s and the Airbuses (etc.) spew into the stratosphere in order to fly all of the experts in and out of such an environmental conference?? (Bali). How about we take an educated guess?? I’ll bet it’s more than they’ve saved!!

  9. Gore and Dion…what a couple of losers!
The Nobel Loserate, winner of the Nobel Prize for Fraud and the vaunted leader of the Liberals, elected by 5000 drunks in Montreal.
Wait for a year, it will be hilarious when these two dickheads can’t blame Bush for staying out of Kyoto and have to rationalize why the Democrats refuse to join either!

  10. The Democrats refused to join Kyoto when Clinton was President and Gore was Vice President.
    An Inconvenient Truth,
Then Gore was recruited by the Nuclear Energy cabal and VOILA!!! – Gore demonizes “fossil fuels” to “save the world”. Anybody else agree that Al Gore is just the Convenient pliant puppet figurehead for power mongers who have speculated on making TRILLIONS in the carbon market?
Why do you think Gore won’t DEBATE any of his ridiculous statements. They are not his words or ideas – he is the willing “spokes model/actor” for the cabal, sort of like Vanna White dressing up nice and spinning the wheel.
Does anybody believe that Gore had anything to do with wirting or producing his movie? He was simply cast as the lead actor and learned his lines. That’s why he can’t debate the fraud he is a front for.

  11. Re: Three of history’s best charts
Very interesting. Here’s what effect a simple choice of map may have:
Psychological Study Of The Underdog Indicates There Is Hope For Israeli Hasbarah
Based on a psychological study of why people tend to support the underdog, by The Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, it may be that the way to improve Israel’s image is not to emphasize her contributions to science, nor even to advertise the beaches filled with bikini-clad women. In a study, The Appeal of the Underdog (PDF), researchers from the University of South Florida found something more basic–and used the Israel-Palestine conflict as one of its test cases.

  12. Trends in defamation law: The author mentions lawsuits by celebrities; then terrorism-related libel actions; but the bulk of the article is devoted to Muslim plaintiffs suing the media:
Richard Ackland, Responsible journalism will have its day in court
Sydney Morning Herald, 21 December 2007
“But some good can come of these litigious struggles. Last year the House of Lords decided in a case also involving claims about funding terrorism and brought by a Saudi businessman, Mohammed Jameel, against The Wall Street Journal, that if journalism was undertaken in a responsible, balanced and thorough manner it would win the day. The court said that standard should be applied in a practical and flexible manner.”

  13. Sound familiar?
Gerard Baker, 2007, a bad year for God squadders
Nothing better measures the retreat of religion in our postmodern society than the diminished intensity of the war over Christmas.
This fight — waged for decades by a dwindling band of religious insurgents against a prevailing secularist consensus — used to be fought with a real passion. People actually once got quite upset about saucy Christmas cards or television schedules that omitted even a hint of religion between the comedy classics and the game shows.
Now it just amounts to a few feeble skirmishes, a couple of barmy Christians railing outside the shopping malls, while everybody else gets on with their daily worship at the shrines of the modern trinity: shopping, eating and drinking…

  14. TORONTO, December 20, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) –
Another Canadian publication has come under attack for its opinions through the agency of the government-funded Canadian Human Rights Commissions (HRC). Closely following an uproar in the media against government-sponsored censorship via HRC against Maclean’s magazine and columnist Mark Steyn and an Alberta HRC judgment ordering Alberta news media to not publish any comments on homosexuality by a Christian pastor, Toronto’s Catholic Insight magazine has reported they stand accused in an HRC complaint of “targeting homosexuals”.
Catholic Insight is a Catholic political and cultural general interest magazine that regularly and accurately expounds orthodox Catholic teaching, based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, on homosexuality as well as harmful consequences to individual persons and society of the active homosexual “lifestyle”.
The magazine now reveals that Rob Wells, a homosexual activist associated with the Pride Centre of Edmonton, in February this year filed a nine-point complaint against Catholic Insight. Wells alleges that the magazine made “negative generalizations” about homosexuals; portrayed them as preying upon children, as dangerous and “devoid of any redeeming qualities and…innately evil”….-
