John Hawkins interviews Ann Coulter.
“This is exactly what the US did during the Clinton years, when Yasser Arafat visited the White House 11 times, and met with President Clinton 24 times. Not only did this “consistent involvement” at the highest level not produce any progress, it raised the expectations of Palestinians to an absurd level, leaving them more intransigent and belligerent than they were at the outset.”

Best line from the Coulter interview:
“Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: One of the most pro-American speakers ever invited to lecture by Columbia University”
(1) MI5 chief: ‘al-Qaeda is recruiting teen terrorists from the UK’
Al-Qaeda is increasingly recruiting teenagers in the United Kingdom as young as 15 and grooming them to carry out attacks in this country, the head of MI5 revealed today.
In his first public speech since taking over as Director-General of MI5 in April, Jonathan Evans painted an alarming picture of youngsters being radicalised by al-Qaeda’s recruiters.
“As I speak, terrorists are methodically and intentionally targeting young people and children in this country. They are radicalising, indoctrinating and grooming young, vulnerable people to carry out acts of terrorism,” he said in an address to the Society of Editors in Manchester.
…
Mr Evans also revealed that al-Qaeda’s concentrated campaign against the UK was now being orchestrated not just from the tribal regions of Pakistan but from several other countries around the world, and he identified Somalia, Iraq and Algeria. This new development, he said, had emerged within the last 12 months.
In the last five years, much of the command, control and “inspiration for attack planning in the UK” had derived from al-Qaeda’s remaining core leadership in the tribal areas of Pakistan, the border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan – “often using young British citizens to mount the actual attack”.
He added: “Worryingly, we have more recently seen similar processes emerging elsewhere. For instance, there is no doubt now that al-Qaeda in Iraq aspires to promote terrorist attacks outside Iraq.”
The full text of the speech appears here.
(2) John Bolton: Surrender is Not an Option
John Bolton’s new book, “Surrender is Not an Option: Defending America at the United Nations and Abroad,” will be published tomorrow….
Also includes a brief answer to a question from JCI: “AMBASSADOR BOLTON: I think the odds are that the [Annapolis] conference will take place, but I am very skeptical that a positive outcome is possible. The circumstances in the region are just not conducive to progress, particularly on the Palestinian side, where there is no effective Palestinian Authority, no effective entity that can carry out commitments that might be made. And the risk is not simply that the conference will fail, but that a failed conference will leave us in a worse situation in the region.”
“In a later conversation, Bolton indicated the two-state solution has run its course, and that any future solution will more likely be a three-state one involving the participation of Egypt and Jordan.”
Andrew, coming from the US, I’ve known that since High School. Believe it or not, they also taught us that more than once in the nineteenth century, a bill was introduced to congress to make German the official language of the US.

“It is said that one of Charles Windsor’s aims during his tour of the United States is to make the country more understanding towards Islam, a religion in which he has shown an inordinate interest for many years now. This would be the poor, persecuted underdog Islam, I take it, which already rules 56 nations on this earth . . . I wonder why Prince Charles seeks to big up powerful, theocratic Islam — which already controls so much land and wealth and yet will kill and kill to gain more — and not vulnerable, pluralistic Israel? Why doesn’t he invest as much energy in defence of the persecuted and murdered Christians who suffer for their beliefs under Islamic regimes? Well, I think I know why; because cleaving to Islam is the one way that men who wish to appear liberal and enlightened can promote reactionary ideas.”
So many great blogs out there, so little time . . .

Kyoto’s Capitalist Creator

Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) — One early October day in London, a financier named James Cameron was poring over a poster-size map of China inside his offices near the River Thames…
Since co-founding Climate Change Capital in 2003, Cameron and his business partner, Mark Woodall, have turned their company into a powerhouse in the burgeoning global market in greenhouse gases. Driven by the Kyoto Protocol on global warming, an accord Cameron helped write, this corner of the derivatives arena is growing as never before.

Canada already has a justice system intent on protecting criminals without regard for the safety or rights of law abiding indivduals.
In fact under our current statutes there is NO provision for defense of person or property because their is NO recognition that individuals have rights … especially the right of private property!
As several law enforcement folks have advised me … if you catch a burglar in your house either run out and call the cops from your neighbors or if you have to defend yourself … do a thorough job of it and drag the body to the curb… well away from your property.

So why play the game at night?
Ann Coulter is a vapid, vindictive, plagiarizing, ill-informed embarrassment to the US. She’s not even about being conservative… she’s about shock value without substance. Who cares about politeness? My issue is that she’s ignorant!
You’d think Canadians would know better than to put their support behind someone who embodies the lowest form of political expression.
Some Ann quotes:
“I think [women] should be armed but should not [be allowed to] vote.”
“If those kids had been carrying guns they would have gunned down this one [child] gunman. … Don’t pray. Learn to use guns.”
“I think [Whitewater]’s going to prevent the First Lady from running for Senate.”
“My track record is pretty good on predictions.”
Good choice, guys. She’s clearly honed in on the truth.
I started to look into what would be involved in nominating Mark Steyn for a Pulitzer award. The first thing I found was that the Pulitzer prizes are now given by Columbia University. So much for that great idea …
My favorite Ann Coulter quote: “God made man and woman; Col. Colt made us equal”.
“…..I wonder why Prince Charles seeks to big up powerful, theocratic Islam…?
Could be because he’s an inbred halfwit….
It could also be because he does not aspire to be Crown Prince of the United Nations. When it comes down to it, he’s being groomed for the slot of Sovereign of the U.K., as well as of Canada, Australia, and the other Commonwealth countries – but not of the entire world, nor of all of “Christendom” either. It would be somewhat odd of him to aspire to be Pope, or to be Holy Roman Emperor.
I should also add that it would be rather untoward of him to aspire to be the Crown Prince of the United States. The 1783 Treaty of Paris makes it quite clear that the U.S. has no need of him in that capacity. So what’s wrong with him confining himself to his role as future Sovereign of the above-mentioned countries, and to the needed partiality of that role? From what I recall, Israel has little use for a U.K overlord also – and the big player in the ME is a long-established monarchy. You can’t expect a Crown Prince, a political figure, to be a saint.
Nor can you expect him to be a politician.
I always enjoy listening to Dr. Tim Ball. He’s seems very down to earth and speaks in “normal” language. What the CBC did to him is, in my opinion, disgusting.

Professor offers extra credit for burning the flag. Where’s thefire.org?
From stoptheaclu.com:
A University of Maine student alleges her former professor offered extra credit to class members if they burned the American flag or the U.S. Constitution or were arrested defending free speech.
On the first day of class, associate professor Paul Grosswiler offered the credit to members of his History of Mass Communications class, according to sophomore Rebekah McDade. Disturbed by the comment, McDade dropped the class and intends to take the course again next semester with a different professor.
“I was offended,” McDade said Friday. “I come from a family of military men and women, and the flag and Constitution are really important symbols to me because of my family background.”
In an e-mail responding to a request for comment from the Bangor Daily News on Friday, Grosswiler said he thought McDade misunderstood the class discussion, which was intended to elicit thought about the First Amendment. He said he has held this same discussion for years without incident.
“I don’t intend for students to burn either the Constitution or the flag, and over the years hundreds of students have understood that,” Grosswiler wrote.
When asked whether the university would pursue disciplinary action, Carr replied, “No.”
He said Grosswiler has worked at the University of Maine since 1991, is one of the more veteran professors in the department of communication and journalism, and is a “well-respected member of the faculty.”

Ann is quick-witted, and she says it as she sees it. What is wrong with that? It isn’t like women haven’t ever had the thought that some women shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Exactly why did some women vote for Clinton? Was it because he is a lying, cheating dog or is it because all those dumbass women wished they could get some – major yuk!
I don’t know if “verbally abusive” and “quick-witted” mean the same thing. And if you feel the vote should be restricted from some people (female or not… because a lot of men voted for Clinton, too) based on who they vote for, then the voting process is kind of… well, lost on you.
How about a dictatorship? That sounds fun! Oy.
Meg, Meg, Meg. Ann gets her biggest kicks out of people like you. Lose the fake, hypocritical outrage. I’m sure you’ve gotten a hearty laugh or two out of liberal jokers poking mean fun at conservatives — how much did you chuckle when Warren Kinsella walked around with a dinosaur to belittle Stockwell Day’s religious beliefs? Laugh-a-minute, that Kinsella. Mean, too. Same with Michael Moore — ever chuckle at his digs at the gun-toting hicks and drugged-out soldiers in his movies? His constant snipings at Christians and Republicans?

Canada bails suspected terror plotter
OTTAWA (AFP) — Canada Monday freed on bail a man suspected of heading an Islamic terrorist cell that planned attacks in the Toronto region, justice authorities said.

“I think [women] should be armed but should not [be allowed to] vote.”
Actually, Meg, I kind of agree with her on this one. As a gross generalization, I have found that women are not analytical enough in evaluating political issues and are too easily influenced by idealistic rhetoric. Having said that, the point (both mine and I believe Ann Coulter’s) is not to take the vote away from women (which would clearly be unjust) but to simply raise the issue about whether or not there is something is amiss with women’s voting patterns. Coulter does go for shock value, but what she says frequently contains a grain of truth.
I’ve never read Warren Kinsella, actually, and I think Michael Moore relies on a lot of shock value to sell his views, too. That’s usually a way of covering for weaknesses in debate.
I don’t normally read political blogs because I find they’re a lot of opinions without grace or thoughtfulness or scholarship. Or they’re a bunch of links to writing by more thoughtful people.
I also never actually expressed if I was a liberal or a conservative, or what my religious views are. I simply said I thought Ann Coulter was an idiot.
I know plenty of conservatives and liberals alike who agree, simply because they don’t find fame and money and notoriety a measure of intelligence.
Hello, Paris Hilton? She makes more at a club opening than Ann has on half of her books.
And Meg who indeed? Why do I need to be anyone to you, or anyone else? I definitely have as much of a right to my opinions as any of you, but I’m not prepared to say horrifying things to gain “renown.”
I’ll leave that to your pundits.

Did you see the documentry about the world wide bee die-off?
Research shows that our pesticides have damaged bee imune systems to the point that US growers must spend millions to rent bee colonies for their crop pollination.
The bee die-off continues even though they know some of the causes. Trouble is the bees carry 20 or more *parasites* now so there is no possible cure.
Fruits and veggies need pollination so we better get used to tortilla [corn] and wheat foods diets.

Norway pledges additional Afghan support
OSLO, Norway – Norway will send an additional 250 troops, including special forces, and helicopters to bolster NATO-led peacekeeping forces for Afghanistan next year, the defense minister announced Tuesday.
Defense Minister Anne-Grethe Stroem-Erichsen said the force will include 150 special forces troops based in the Kabul region for 18 months beginning around March 2008.
She said Norway, a member of the NATO alliance, will also send 100 infantry troops and two or three helicopters early next year to reinforce the current Norwegian contingent, based near the northern Afghanistan city of Maymana.
“It is completely necessary to increase the military presence in that area to create security,” said Stroem-Erichsen.
The Norwegian military said its nation’s soldiers, together with Afghan government troops and other international peacekeepers, have been engaged in tough battles against insurgents in the country’s north this week. …-

Proliferation of Climate Scepticism in Europe
Climate scepticism has now gained a firm foothold in various European countries.
[…]
Russian scientists are criticising very openly the AGW hypothesis. They do it with a frankness which – in this particular field – is still rare in the ‘free world’. Usually scientists shroud their statements in clouds of caveats. Even the IPCC follows this tradition to a certain extent. But Russian climatologists do not. They simply state that a new little ice age is imminent. Not so long ago it was astronomer Khabibullo Abdusamatov of the Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in St. Petersburg, who declared that the Earth will experience a ‘mini Ice Age’ in the middle of this century, caused by low solar activity. Now it is the climatologist Olech Sorochtin, member of the Russian Academy of Physical Science, who joins him. His message was prominently disseminated by the Russian press agency Novosti, which in the period of the Cold War was generally considered to be a mouthpiece of the Kremlin. (http://de.rian.ru/analysis/20071009/83073114.html). Therefore, it is perhaps not too far-fetched to speculate that this might be a warning signal that the Russians will drop out of Kyoto when its first phase expires in 2012.
But Britannia rules the waves. Stewart Dimmock, a Kent lorry driver and school governor, took the government to court for sending copies of Gore’s film to schools. He was backed by a group of campaigners, including Viscount Monckton, a former adviser to Mrs Thatcher. They won a legal victory against ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. Mr Justice Burton ruled that the movie contained at least nine scientific errors and said ministers must send new guidance to teachers before it was screened. ‘That ruling was a fantastic victory,’ said Monckton. ‘What we want to do now is send schools material reflecting an alternative point of view so that pupils can make their own minds up.’ Monckton has also won support from the maker of ‘The Great Global Warming Swindle’. Martin Durkin, managing director of WAG TV, which produced the documentary, said he would be delighted for his film to go to schools. I have become a proselytiser against the so-called consensus on climate change … people can decide for themselves,’ he said. …-

Kathleen Willey suspects Clintons murdered husband
World Net Daily via Drudge Report
In a new book alleging a campaign of slander and intimidation orchestrated chiefly by Hillary Clinton, Kathleen Willey points a finger of suspicion at the former first couple for the death of her husband, who was believed to have killed himself.
Willey, who claims she was groped by President Clinton in the White House, acknowledged in an interview with WND today that she stands by the speculation she poses about her husband’s demise in “Target: Caught in the Crosshairs of Bill and Hillary Clinton,” set for release this week by World Ahead Publishing, WND Books’ partner.
Asked if she suspects her husband Ed, a lawyer and son of a prominent Virginia lawmaker, was murdered, Willey replied, “Most definitely.”
“I’m having someone with a forensics background look at this, and I intend to pursue this further, now that these questions have been raised,” she told WND, pointing to alleged discrepancies in the autopsy report.
Does she believe the Clintons were involved?
“I do have suspicions,” Willey said, “yes.”
It was Ed Willey’s dire financial straits that prompted Kathleen, then a White House volunteer, to seek a meeting with President Clinton in the Oval Office to plead for a paying job and any other help the commander-in-chief could give. …-

Meg, the point I was trying to make was you have to wonder why a woman would vote for Bill Clinton after knowing he committed adultery with numerous women; it is bad enough his wife, Hillary, didn’t have the Thatchers to leave the lying, cheating dog. Even worse is these same women who voted for Bill knowing what he was like, wanted a little some-some from him too, unlike the men who voted for Bill Clinton who would probably be more interested in catching a little of Bill’s side-action.
Me thinks, you are a little bit of a drama diva – lighten up.
