Best Canadian Blog
2004 - 2007
Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Rush Rocks!
Especially when he lays waste to the neo-commie left.
It was Ignorance, not Stupidity… 😉
“Glittering Jewel Of Colossal Stupidity”
Oh I love to listen to Rush Limbaugh. I just wish we could get him to weigh in on Canadian politics, or at least that we could have a Canadian version of him. The Libs and Dippers would writhe in seizures.
When will “Rush” ( there’s a Socratic pun there I’m sure) be auctioning off any of this forged prescriptions??
What a bloated sack of hypocritical protoplasm.
A quick check of e-bay shows it is currently selling for over $50,000. Too bad that is US $ and not Canadian.
Good on Rush.
Ed the Hun
Rush totally rocks. I’ve been a subscriber for several years – he is funny and optimistic and knows libs like “every square inch of his glorious naked body”. Three hours of broadcast excellence everyday – I listen while making supper for the family (generating Rush babies too). He’s part of the reason I am an ex-lib. The whole “phoney soldiers” fiasco was just the Dems trying to deflect attention from the Betray-us ad. There is nothing comparable on Canadian airwaves. Libs think you are stark raving mad if you tell them you listen to Rush – then you ask if they have ever listened and of course the answer is no.
Go Rush
Thanks – will correct that. Brain fart.
This is a rather clever idea of Limbaugh’s.
And to think the auction price is now over $50,000! You would never see that in Canada.
Somehow you don’t find that level of passion here, not to mention we’re taxed to death so $50k seems like a much larger sum than it does to our American friends.
We used to have a talk show host in BC who pushed the buttons of politicians, but he was forced off the public air waves. Rafe Mair, who still writes and makes guest appearances but he is too much for sensitive politicians who ignore the democratic process.
I’m sure General Petraeus is delighted with Rush Limbaugh’s sales effort.
No doubt a few Marines wouldn’t mind a few minutes in the back sandlot with the signatories of said letter.
Isn’t it amazing how drive by smears always come back to smack you upside the head?
No wonder people have to pray for their ostensible ‘leaders’.
Cheers
OO-RAH!!! Rush nails it. Who is Hillary Clinton, Harry the Undertaker and any of these idiot Dems to feel that they can put a lid on the First Amendment rights of others. What they can’t suppress in the marketplace, they will craft some USSR measure to suppress.
WL Mackenzie Redux – you hate Republicans and all things American conservative, got it. Rush’s problems with painkillers, there but for circumstances could be many of us, not my judgement to make, doesn’t diminish the man in my eyes. I’m really having a hard time figuring out what your core values are. Care to share?
Yes, Rush had problems with a painkiller, but
went to rehab and is now free of them.
You have the pain he had and show us you can
handle the problem of going deaf and wondering
if you would hear again. Then have the surgery
pain and the stress of his never-ending care
of the republications and the troops.
Even if people don’t read him or listen to him
if they do not know about this great move
he came up with, their tunnel vision is
so small they never see the light at the end.
Rush!
Don’t justify Rush’s mistakes in life. He’s human too, which means imperfect.
But then there are some holy and perfect bloated sacks, er, human beings gravitating around here you know.
Rush will match the amount raised by the auction, and in addition, as this letter was done on the peoples time, in the Senate, he figures the people have paid for the letter. He is making it available for downloading and printing, free of charge. Should one wish to donate to the Marine fund, they are free to do so. Says you can’t charge people for something they have already paid for. I think this is one letter that will be in thousands of homes across the US. Another example of the law of unintended consequences. He will not deliver the original letter personally, says he would hate to have to go to one of the signers office, as they might be trying to get this piece of evidence of their stupidity back, to be destroyed.
The inclusion of the “Halliburton Case” is a nice touch- as is his matching donation, and challenge to these “Senators” ( God, to think the term once meant something noble- they are a clown car circus, now. Corrupt, petty, mean, and venal ) to match it as well a master stroke.
Most of them are multi-millionaires… want to bet how many will cough up actual money of their own and not the taxpayers?
Nice going Rush!
Oh hey, Rush Limbaugh! Just as lame and unintelligent as a lefty blog posting a Michael Moore video.
steve perhaps you and MM fans don’t recognise credibility.
That’s the difference
Nice stunt.
Steve, call it what you will but both Moore and Rush have a knack for self-promotion and marketing that have earned them a huge audience and uber-piles of greenbacks.
And in this case (and unlike Moore,) the money is going to charity.
How many leftards that moan on about their causes give to them? That’s the difference between a leftard and conservative. The conservatives give thier own money to their own causes and the leftards demand everyone else gives to theirs.
I have been listening to Rush for a few months now and I think he is handling this brilliantly. Harry Reid is the gift that keeps on giving!
Great post Kate!
Now if only Canada could produce a Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly or Laura Ingraham to counter the leftist lickspittle who dominate Canadian MSM.
And to think the auction price is now over $50,000! You would never see that in Canada.
Somehow you don’t find that level of passion here, not to mention we’re taxed to death so $50k seems like a much larger sum than it does to our American friends.
sounds like you should be on the other side of the border.
Thanks for the link. Now I’ll watch the CBC discussion with three progressives. LOL
Penny sez: “WL Mackenzie Redux – you hate Republicans and all things American conservative, got it”
Did I say that?
You must have some kind of reading glasses that change meanings, I SAID I don’t care for Rush.
I find his bombast, baiting, incivility and blind partisanism a turn off and the fact he ragged on pot smokers for years as “weaklinmgs” when he at the time was addicted to drugs to be offensive to me as a conservative and as a part American…he represents all that is wrong with partisan media messaging.
For your clarity: I am part American, have many American relatives, I’m a right of center voter and a Libertarian who thinks the US constitution was the greatest written expression of a civil society.
But I detest Rush…as always too many people relate acceptance of blind partisan bombast to “hating America” or “voting the correct way”
You should take a second look at your own reflexive political logic Penny and be sure you are not filtering out pertinent facts through a blind partisan filter.
Doug sez: “Don’t justify Rush’s mistakes in life. He’s human too, which means imperfect.
But then there are some holy and perfect bloated sacks, er, human beings gravitating around here you know.”
Ya know Goug it must be a very tigh squeeze to get into that partisan box you’re in.
First off as a Christian O must forgive human frailty…but Rush was also a degenerate hypocrite….condemning other for their weakness ( drug users” when he was one of them himself and of full knowledge of it.
You can Chose your heroes but Rush is far from hero material.
Lastly: If gets out of lockstep with the herd mentality here it certainly attracts the most virulent narrow minded conformists.
Yes, Rush is a bit partisan, and frankly right wing, for my tastes; but, he is a neat counterpoint to the loony left in US.
WLMR: Which world would you rather live in – one run by Micheal Moore or one run by Rush Limbaugh?
Sorry, I just can’t see Rush in the same light as a down and out crystal meth junkie who lives on the streets begging and stealing just so he can get his next ‘fix’.
The moral equivalency just doesn’t work.
Besides which he had a problem, he got help and he pulled himself up by his own bootstraps. Exactly what he advocates others to do. I don’t see any hypocrisy in that.
I don’t agree with everything he says, and find his show boring a lot of the time. He tends to drone on hour after hour on the same subject.
But a druggie hypocrite? That’s way too much of a stretch.
You don’t see the hypocrisy in abusing drugs and admonishing others for doing so at the same time? Isn’t that the epitome of hypocrisy?
Yes rush got help and that’s great. He kicked the habit so far as we know. The problem is that his credibility is shot because he acted in a very hypocritical manner.
You can not bandy about calling others who use drugs weaklings and degenerates while claiming to be above all that yourself when you’re clearly not. If that was acceptable, people here wouldn’t be whining about how Al Gore flies around in private jets all the time. They would simply be talking about how his message was flawed and completely ignore his hypocrisy.
Cheers
Rush is an articulate social conservative who is a little too bombastic to take in large doses (no drug pun intended). His greatest value, in addition to enlightening 20,000,000 ditto heads daily, is the pain he causes Hillary and the rest of the democrats. This event has confirmed the juvenile mentality of the Senate.
Speaking of juvenile, not to be outdone by the Senate, the House democrats are unintentionally? trying to incite war between Turkey and Kurdistan with a ridiculous resolution calling the actions of WW-1 Turkey “genocide” (which may be accurate but totally irrelevant 90 years on). They tried this under Clinton and refrained at his request to ensure US air space security. Now with a whole lot more at stake for the US given the Iraq war and need for continued Kurdish peace, the Dems are pushing it through. I think that even Taliban Jack would be at home with these folks!
WL Mackenzie Redux, if you are a Christian, I never want to be one.
You exhibit “the most virulent narrow minded” disgusting, judgmental ranting, I have seen on this site. Can you spell “hypocrite”?
I have to admit I don’t know enough about Rush to enter into the ‘evaluation and categorizing’ discussion.
What I see from this vid is a guy who will stand up to the antics of Hillary Clinton, and her clan. I like that.
terrence…a person thinking about ‘becoming’ a Christian is best to get their eyes off imperfect Christian like me, WLMR, and others,(Rush?)
and look at Jesus
I think Rush’s characterization of Harry Reid is bang on the mark. The guy is a waste of oxygen. Redux – might be good to remember one thing – when you stand up to take a shot at someone you are also exposing yourself to be shot at. Don’t be so thin skinned.
I’d say that Rush can put another notch on his gun.
Best thing about Rush ……. he knows how to stick it to the lefty blowhards.
bluetech – by their fruits, ye shall know them.
I know Christianity is *supposed* to be about Christ; but, some “Christians” are very bad advertising for Him. I do NOT think WL Mackenzie Redux represents ALL Christians; but he does not put it in a good light.
When WL Mackenzie Redux’s spews uninformed, judgmental crap like what he did above, and later claims to be Christian, it speaks volumes about him. It also reflects (badly) on his faith, and whether or not Christians are different from non-Christians.
Back on topic, what Rush is doing with the letter is brilliant, like much of what he does.
@ Ethan Erkiletian, 1.00pm…
“You don’t see the hypocrisy in abusing drugs and admonishing others for doing so at the same time? Isn’t that the epitome of hypocrisy?”
No. This is a false dilemma. If you cannot tell the difference between need and indulgence, then we got a bigger problem than an entertainer that got hooked on his meds.
Oh, and WLMR? Be a bit more charitable, OK? “A dog barks when his master is attacked.”
John C. Did you miss the video of OBL saying americans should elect hillory, as she has the same values as the taliban. Pay attention when Rush mentions the taliban talking points being spouted by all democratic candidates, and senators.
@Tenebris:
If you cannot tell the difference between need and indulgence, then we got a bigger problem than an entertainer that got hooked on his meds.
it seems the real meaning of the word “addiction” is being lost with this kind of distinction. addiction as an indulgence? please.
I don’t think WLMR has ever said he’s a Christian. I am and I usually like his astute comments, even when I disagree, because they tend to be intelligent opinions, not ad hominems.
I, too, find Rush somewhat over the top and stopped watching him years ago. But I’m with him, in general, and wish we had more media conservatives up here to really kick butt.
@ Tenebris
Saying that Rush’s drug addiction bit was a false dilemma is being exceptionally charitable. I disagree.
Cheers
lookout:
what do you think WLMR meant when he said on October 16, at 2007 11:27 AM, “First off as a Christian O must forgive human frailty”?
BTW, Lookout, Rush has not had a TV program to watch for many years. How do you know he is over the top? Perhaps you meant he “was” over the top.
terrence, if the O is a typo, which it seems to be, then I certainly stand corrected.
Even when I watched Rush’s show long ago, I stopped because it was “So-Rush-All-the-Time”.
That said, I’m basically on side with both WLMR and Rush.
I do think WLMR is somewhat harsh in his judgement of Rush. We all fall short of the glory of God and are, on occassion, hypocrites. If we couldn’t teach or stand for the good unless we were perfect ourselves, all parents and teachers would have to stand by and forget teaching virtue. (Hey, I thinks that’s what’s happening in our shallow culture these days.) ‘Better, I think, imperfect as each of us is, to continue to teach virtue. Then, privately, through our own struggles, and, if we’re Christian, asking both God’s strength and forgiveness, try to improve ourselves.
Lookout, I thought Christ has already died on the cross for ALL sins.
How many times do we have to ask for forgiveness, if he has already died for ALL sins? I can see where we might THANK Him when we sin, because He has already paid the price ALL our sins.
But asking for forgiveness seems like asking Him to go back to the cross and die again.
What kind of theology is THIS? terrence, what Christian cult do you belong to? Or maybe you’re not a Christian at all.
Kyrie eleison and have a good day.
The important thing about Rush is that he is a seminal figure in the rise of conservative broadcasting in the US.
Before he came along the airwaves were virtually free of powerful conservative voices.
His popularity kicked off a whole new adventure in respect to media having conservative voices as a major constituency.
Additionally, he is primarily responsible for creating conservative celebrities like Sean Hannity, because they would act as substitute hosts when he went on vacation.
Now there are many broadcasters who reached celebrity because of Rush.
The second interesting thing about Rush at the moment is that the Democratic Party is actually running against Rush Limbaugh at the present time.
That’s right. They’re not running against Romney or Guiliani or Thompson now; they’re running against Rush.
And that is what is responsible for the Harry Reid condemnation of Rush in the Senate.
Rush is by no means perfect, but he is essentially responsible for populist conservatism being a major power in the US.
I’m definitely pro-American: it’s a bloody shame we have no one like Rush in Canada. It’s when I think of realities like this that I feel anti-Canadian. What a bunch of sheeple far too many are these days. My Canadian forebears sure weren’t sheeple. I think they’re rolling in their graves!
Is your “theology” beyond questioning, Lookout? You sure make it seem so.
Do you know what Christ did on the cross? How many times does He have to do it to satisfy you?
Greg in Dallas: I think you are right about Rush and his influence on US politics. Conservatives in the US and Canada have a lot to thank Rush for. Unfortunately, many people do not get past his presentation, But, as he says, the average liberal would have to listen to him every day for six weeks (or was it months) to understand his humour and presentation. I think this is true of many conservatives, too; they often don’t get Maha, either.
Just checked the Rush site. Bid over 2 million dollars.
