    If we took away women’s right to vote, we’d never have to worry about another Democrat president.     Oh yes, because it’s a crime for the government to decide NOT to milk more money from specific industries. I guess that means that the Saskatchewan NDP are guilty of this as well, considering they lowered royalty rates about 4 or 5 years ago.

    With homicide detectives waiting outside, a team of 30 doctors and nurses fought frantically early yesterday morning to save an unborn child and her mother.
    When Aysun Sesen was brought to St. Michael’s Hospital, with multiple stab wounds to her abdomen, her fetus still had a faint heartbeat. But when they performed a Caesarean, the girl was stillborn.
    Doctors also could not save Sesen, whose husband, Turan Cocelli, 29, was charged with her slaying.
    Family and friends of the 25-year-old victim congregated at an Etobicoke house last evening, some sitting despondently, others embracing, praying and sobbing.
    Instead of anticipation over Sesen’s first child, expected in December, a group of relatives and members of the local Kurdish community searched for answers into the woman’s death.
    “We are shocked,” Nirman Cocelli, a cousin, said. “We don’t know what happened, we don’t know what to do. Everybody is sitting around discussing it. We just try to figure out what happened.”

  28. Got another good laugh from Keith Martin today. He was talking on 1070 radio about safe injection sites, where Tories have extended funding for three more months. He said two hilarious things. First, he said Health Minister should “ditch his ideology.” This from a former Reformer, Alliance and Conservative. He then argues Tories extended funding to get past next election, which he is convinced will happen. What he omits is Liberals will be the ones to force election. Anyway, a good laugh.

Spectulation re backroom Liberal deals: It would also not surprise me if John Rae turns out to be the source of the Liberals $8 million loan which is what will allow them to go ahead with an election. Rae ensured that the Quebec wing was kept bankrolled for many years as they got in financially over their heads. The loan guarantees would, of course, be coming from Power Corp. Has anyone looked into whether or not Bob Rae’s “loans” were paid back. My understanding is that he was heavily in dept because of his leadership bit. He spent quite a bit of money — well over the donation limit — and all “loans” are to be paid back within a year, I believe.

Unless there was a direct order given “Don’t collect the royalties”, it may be nothing more than bureaucratic incompetence. Having seen something of the inner workings of the bureaucracy here in Ottawa, that seems most likely to me.

Even if the ceremony was there (which seems a poor choice) ctv could easily have positioned its cameras for an angle the missed the garbage dumpster. A close-up would have done it. It looks very amateurish on the part of the ctv cameraman, but I suspect it may have been deliberate, particularly since it was not cut out at the editing stage. Seriously shoddy —

Taken literally, it means, some guy who happens to be someones husband murdered a woman, without giving any indication of who that woman could possibly be.   43. What happened to the LPC? I’ve never seen this open defiance of the leader. The Tories were famous for “eating their own” but the Libs never used to air their grievances. They were disciplined, controlling of the message, and were always ready with spin/talking points.
    Is it me or have the tables been completely turned, with Tories disciplined and Libs anything but. Dion has to kick butt or he is likely a goner before next election. Harper basically dared him to defeat government in press conference today.
    The A-team is out and the B(ush league) team is in, with MSM full of stories of Dion’s failing leadership. He has no choice but to kick butt and start removing rebels from caucus, not matter how big (I mean Ignatief of course).
    Not complaining, just observing and shaking my head at the irony of it all.

The province is swimming in surplus cash and extracting more money from the private sector will only drive up inflation and expectations. Do you really want the pound of flesh nearest the heart knowing that doing so is going to hinder economic growth in the future? Encana says raise the royalties and lose a billion in investment (jobs), Talisman says raise the royalties and lose a half billion in their investments (jobs). Rather than worry about monies not collected we should be much more concerned that all sources of said revenue be treated fairly. Likewise if the provincial government or its officials personally benefitted from monies not being collected then lets go after them and charge them with corruption.
