The mainstream media dutifully parroted press releases describing the launch as a “breakthrough” for women in the male-dominated world of talk radio.
The Boston Globe, for example, proclaimed that “GreenStone gives women an outlet.” Business Week described the venture as “Talk Radio Minus The Testosterone.”
Or, to put it another way – talk radio minus the audience.
Last Friday, GreenStone Media signed off for good.
Seems to me righties Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham and Michelle Malkin do very well in their market.
Could it be the GreenStone womyns message doesn’t resonate in the USA.

The left doesn’t do well on radio call in talk shows if they are live programs. The reason being, is people ask questions, and when the left radio talk show host(ess) come up with a stupid nonsensical answer, they are called on it. Someone else just calls in and tells them they are stupid. The left can’t handle constantly being told they are stupid via the live radio waves. They just can’t make it.

Let’s do the math:
Given that they are strongly liberal, GeenStone will only appeal to those on the left of the political spectrum. Those in the centre or right will look elsewhere.
And given GreenStone’s slogan (“Talk Radio Without Balls” or something), they only appeal to women.
And from the term “liberal intelligentsia”, my guess is that GreenStone was trying to deliver sophisticated material – no “lowest common denominator” stuff here.
That excludes 95% of the population right from the get go. It’s like stepping up to the plate with 2 strikes already against you – they would have had to be spectacularly successful with the remaining 5% to make it work.
Don’t celebrate just yet. The DemocRats are already talking about reviving the “Fairness Doctrine” and if they get in the White House, you can bet that they will attempt to ram it through Congress. And what do you think this “Fairness Doctrine” will do? Gloria and Jane will have a job with radio again, thanks to the largesse of the Congressional pork.

One possibility, if the Dems revive FD, is a move *offshore* by the likes of Rush, Sean, et al., to high power transmitters. Don’t know if it is possible, or feasible, but it would certainly give the left heartburn if it worked.
They might have to invade a few small countries to shut down the transmitters. Preemptive strikes to prevent conservatism, doncha know. š

The left is way overrepresented in the MSM. Lefty blogs are just more of the same. They are pretty much in an incestuous relationship recirculating the same old tired ideas.
The right has 2 mediums. In the US there is talk radio (not at all the same in Canada) and the blogosphere. In blogs some of the truth can actually get out to people. The examples are bountiful for breaking stories and revealing more falsehoods by the MSM and left in general.
The rabble at rabble.ca may be boisterous but they go no further than their own little base. Lefties talking to lefties about how hard done they are.
