  2. The fact that this guy chose “Allah” over, say, “Yahweh” or “Jehovah” is telling, isn’t it?
I guess when you’re attitude is to appease feelings over a name, you gotta go with the group you most want to appease. It says a lot with which group this guy chose.

  3. Actually, allah was one of a pantheon of 365 gods at mecca. Mo’s father’s name and his uncle’s name include reference to allah. This is obviously prior to Mo’s sacking of Mecca and appropriation of the entity.
Allah also had a wife and two daughters. That is, until Mo picked him as his puppet god, stripped him of his wife and daughters and placed him above the other gods. Hence, the muslim mantras – ‘there is no god but allah’ and ‘allah is the greatest.’
Allah has been tracked to earlier civilizations as Sin, also a moon god.
As well, the character and acts of allah and his followers are the antithesis of the Christian God presented in the NT.

  4. Islam: Mohammed, pervert of Allah.

    Notes on a Scandal
Since its opening in 1957, the Islamic Center of Washington has been the city’s most prominent mosque—a center of worship for thousands of area Muslims, including many members of the capital’s diplomatic corps. President Bush even made a speech at the mosque earlier this summer.
But now the Islamic Center has become immersed in a nasty court battle marked by charges of embezzlement, abuse of women and an alleged attempt to spread radical messages of hate.
The fireworks began earlier this year when federal prosecutors filed a criminal complaint against the recently ousted business manager of the mosque, Farzad Darui. A later five-count indictment charged that Durui, an Iranian native who formerly served as the mosque’s security chief, embezzled more than $430,000 in five years—in part by altering checks and diverting mosque funds to corporate entities he controlled. …-

Arbil, Aug 16, (VOI) – A 340-strong Kurdish Peshmerga force was sent to northwestern Iraq’s district of Sinjar to restore security and provide protection to the afflicted community, an official Peshmerga source said on Thursday.

Iraqi PM Announces Shiite-Kurd Alliance (take THAT, Sunnis!)
    Associate Press ^ | Aug 16, 2007 | QASSIM ABDUL-ZAHRA
The Iraqi prime minister and president announced a new alliance of moderate Shiites and Kurds in a push to save the crumbing government Thursday, saying a key Sunni bloc refused to join but the door remained open to them. Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said the agreement was the first step to unblock political stagnation that has gripped his Shiite-led government since it first took power in May 2006. But the announcement after three days of intense negotiations was disappointing because it did not include Iraq’s Sunni Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi and his moderate Iraqi Islamic Party. 7. Allah has been tracked to earlier civilizations as Sin, also a moon god.
This is a complete fabrication by certain fundamentalist Christians (notably missionary Dr. Robert Morey).
The Arabic word “Allah” meaning “God” or “God Almighty” was in use by Arabic-speaking Christians and Jews centuries before the arrival of Islam.
“Allah” is not God’s name, but rather the Arabic equivalent of the English word. The word for “God” in Aramaic – the semitic language of Jesus – is “Allaha”
“Among His Signs are the Night and the Day and the Sun and Moon. Prostrate (adore) not to the Sun and the Moon but prostrate to God, Who created them, if it is Him ye wish to serve.”
    Qur’an 41:37

  8. Allah damned, god damned, god damned Allah, whatever, Allah means nothing in this Judeo-Christian country. The Muslims come here to live in safety and comfort, they can mind their own bloody business, worship whatever god they wish and shut the hell up about it. If they can’t abide our lifestyle and customs, can’t take employment or serve in any service industry because of their religion, they must leave, we can’t support them in isolation from our customs.
    Begone, and God speed.

  14. I got a 416-area phone call last night from — another — pollster who asked to speak to the oldest male in the house. After I confirmed she began to ask a — now presumably poll — question without bothering to tell me how long it would take or asking whether or not I was willing or able to take the poll at that time.
I wasn’t comfortable with her approach. When I interrupted to ask which polling firm she was calling on behalf of she interrupted me back, replying with just enough impatience to make the call entirely presumptuous “It’ll only take a couple of minutes.”
I reiterated my question. She said — and I could tell it was supposed to be beside the point — “Environics.” I told her that it wasn’t a good time; she asked what would be a good time, and I told her I’d be home tomorrow night.
There was just something Liberal in the air, so later I Goggled looking for any connection. The President and co-founder of Environics, Michael Adams, certainly sounds like a condensate of GTA LPCism — he has an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Toronto, and he’s currently writing a book with the working title “Unlikely Utopia: The Surprising Triumph of Canadian Pluralism” — but there seemed to be no direct connection between Environics and the Liberal Party of Canada.
Adams does have a blog, though —
    http://michaeladams.typepad.com/
    — that’s no great shakes; commendably casual, that sort of thing. The second post there, from December 2006, titled “Can anyone stop this man from winning all 308 seats?” is about Stephane Dion. Reading it I couldn’t help but think that for the head of a major polling firm whose findings are regularly the basis for news stories on CTV, for one, Adams seems openly keen on one particular party’s leader.
Not only does he seem to admire Dion’s goals and visions, it’s pointedly evident that he considers those goals and visions politically utile for the Dion team, and important for all the rest of us: “Mr. Dion’s vision is not just bigger than Quebec, it’s bigger than Canada.”
Well, that’s the idea, to be sure; we’ve all watched Mr. Dion billowing in that international slipstream. But it’s odd that this vision would be most cogently expressed, and butterflied, by a Canadian pollster, or that this pollster would have such a finely-tuned, carefully considered strategic understanding of how a Dion handler, say, or an adviser to a Dionne handler might handle issues surrounding LPC election strategy. I thought pollsters were just supposed to take polls.
“Canadians are among the most ecologically conscious people in the world, a conciousness not being reflected by our current government (although the Conservatives seem to be on the brink of waking up and smelling the coffee.)”
Hmmm, seems the wheels are grinding at the Circle J Ranch even as we speak. Patrick Boyer, host of “Let’s Talk” on ichannel, which is owned by a broadcasting company based on Bay Street that the Globe and Mail has described as “one of the most creatively provocative television filmmaking enterprises in Canada” wrote “Michael Adams is in a class by himself, because he and his firm Environics go beneath surface opinions to chart social values and how they shift over time…To the controversies, Adams brings the light of understanding rather than just more heat.”
    http://michaeladams.typepad.com
And for years’ worth of Environics poll-results-based news stories — e.g. “Gay marriage question settled for Canadians: poll” go to ctv.ca

  19. Maz2 …. Too bad the Taliban/Al Qaida camps were all deserted last week…
Did they go to Afstan?? Not likely! At least not the majority.
Seems they dispersed into Pakistan under the care and support of Pakistani security and military instead!!
Remains to be seen where they will emerge but I’m betting this is a prelude to a coup against Musharaaf….
    Al Qaida Camps Empty
    Keep an eye on this!

  20. OMMAG, the Pakistani troop buildup in Tora Bora area might be explained by this. Before, Musharraf was hesitant or unwilling to do battle in this area (remember his “peace treaty?”). Now that his neck is on line, he could be commiting troops. Just speculation on my part.

  21. Climate alarmists gleefully surfed a 2005 Nature study that claimed greenhouse gas emissions would slow Atlantic Ocean circulation and cause a mini ice age in Europe. Their ride now seems headed for a gnarly wipeout.
    ATLANTIC PANIC DEBUNKED
An international team of researchers just reported in the journal Science (Aug. 17) that the intensity of the Atlantic circulation may vary by as much as a factor of 8 in a single year. The decrease in Atlantic circulation claimed in the Nature study falls well within this variation and so is likely part of a natural yearly trend, according to the new study.

  22. OMMAG,
great link and yes this is a interesting development. Remeber they did two things before 9/11, killeed the Northern Alliance leader and emptied their camps
They were expecting an american response of cruise missiles and they were expecting the americans to use the Northern alliance and wanted to cause disarray…..they didnt expect an invasion.
    Two possibilities
    1) Overthrow of Mussaref, or at least tieing him up or distracting him
    2) As either a prelude to an attack on the US or a parallel operation
Third possibility, major thrust into Afghanistan, where the NAto forces are weak….witness the attempted overrun of a US base last week. I sure hope those Vandoos have reinfrced their base and that there is sufficient airpower available withing minutes to pound the crap out of masses of Taliban (which ultimatley wold be a good thing because that is a battle on our, Western, terms)
You are right to highlight this

I tasted my dinner all over again, after reading that link. What part of “lying on your application” does the idiotic QHRC not understand? It’s grounds for dismissal in almost any employment situation, nanny-state Quebec notwithstanding, of course.
Perhaps if the school keeps him from teaching “How to Beat Your Competitors” he’ll do just fine, eh?

  27. Let me get this straight. A Dutch Roman Catholic bishop thinks everyone should call the Supreme Being, the Creator of the Universe, Allah. In 1945, after Hitler’s attempt at wiping out the Jewish race became headline news, does anyone remember hearing a Dutch Roman Catholic bishop suggest that we all call God Yahweh to show solidarity? Nor did I.

  28. Allah means ‘only god’ and is the name in combination with other expressions make up the 99 names of the god muslims worship. Anyone who says that Allah is even close to being the same as Yahweh is ignorant on both counts.

  29. Allah means ‘only god’ and is the name in combination with other expressions make up the 99 names of the god muslims worship.
Sorry Joe, but that’s incorrect. Allah is Arabic for “God”. Christian and Jewish Arabs use the same word in the Bible and Talmud.
The other “99 names” are not names (nouns) at all, but are descriptive (adjectives). The most common applied to God (Allah in Arabic) by Muslims are “compassionate” and “merciful”.

  30. I worked with a guy who went around and told everyone the world was ending on a certain day. He gave his truck to a neighbor and his wife had to go get it back. He’s nuttier than a fruitcake. I asked him to give his truck to me next time. That pretty sums up my exposure to religious freaks. And you are freaks. And you are ill and should seek help.

  31. We got it ok4ua – we got it. Why don’t you stand on a street corner and hold a one-man meeting?
The guy you worked with was obviously a Jehovah Witness and more to be pitied than scorned. He was the loser, not you.
God’s name is “I AM” – That’s Who He said He was – and that’s good enough for me.
Choose not to believe okwhatever – you were given free will. In fact, the Creator has given you more free will than any political system has ever granted you, so enjoy. As long as you don’t stand on street corners praying aloud in order to be seen and admired by men, then feel free to declaim, explain, proclaim to your heart’s content. You have God’s blessing to be you – in His eyes, you are unique and special.
But hit the POST button only once.

  32. Belisarius
Arabic like Hebrew is a descritive language. They don’t use nouns like we do in English. The nouns they use are descriptions of the item being discussed. Their description of god tells us that allah is not the same as Yahweh. Islam is the religion of the rejected son trying to please a father that has rejected him. Hence all the dietary laws, laws that cover personal interaction and the hatred expressed toward anything that might interfere with the son’s attempt to please the rejecting father. It also explains the jealous hatred toward the natural born son (Jews) and the adopted son (gentile Christians).

  33. The nouns they use are descriptions of the item being discussed.
Again incorrect, Joe. As a Semitic language, Arabic is very closely related to Hebrew and Aramaic. Nouns in Arabic take two forms: definite (al – meaning “the”, as in al-kitbu “the book”) and indefinite (suffix -n added, as in kitbun, or “a book”). Nouns are also assigned a gender, which determines the pronouns, adjectives and verbs used with them.
As for your “rejected son” theory, where on earth did you come up with that nonsense?
