First World War veterans’ grave get headstones thanks to 13-year-old girl
VANCOUVER (CP) – Six First World War veterans buried at Vancouver’s Mountainview Cemetery now have proper headstones thanks to a 13-year old girl.
Their graves went unmarked for decades but now they have been given proper granite grave markers and were honoured with a veterans colour guard at Mountainview Cemetery Saturday.
Amanda Neil of Ladner, B.C. raised over $1,300 through bottle collecting and donations to buy the markers.
Even more impressive, Amanda closed the ceremony by presenting another cheque to buy one more headstone.
Mountainview is the resting place of over 12,000 veterans.
More than 900 don’t have markers. …-

Canada is not by any means “dependent” on immigration. Studies by the Fraser Institute, the CD Howe Institute, the Economic Council of Canada, the Universite de Montreal, Statistics Canada among others confirm this. Immigration cannot keep the Canadian population young, and may lead to population ageing in the short term. Immigration has also widened income inequality and increased poverty rates. A good overview of the problems caused by mass immigration is the book “Who Gets In?” by Daniel Stoffman. The truth is that Canada and Canadians would be economically, socially and environmentally better off with NO immigration.
Immigration is nothing more than a pawn used to bring in a voting bloc for whoever is in power. If PMSH was smart, he would IMMEDIATELY stop ALL immigration until we get the current mess we are in straightened out. What is it? Some 50,000 running around under deportation orders, and we have no idea where they are? How many cabbies have degrees? Tons. I was the boss of a guy who was a veteranian, and he was doing a roughnecks job! What a waste of talent. In my current postion I have 4 guys/gals under me who all have masters,yet they are doing menial jobs! One is Ukranian,one is Egyptian,and two are Nigerian. Yet they are dedicated and working hard to get their credentials recgonized here in Canada. Lets get these people squared away first,then we can work on looking at more immigrants. And yes,I know the hoops of immigration,as I have to sponser them and fill out the six miles of red tape. I keep telling them they should just leave for a week, and come back with no papers,and some bogus refugee claim. Bingo-bango-bongo,you’re in and can stay!

On this I would agree with JP. Immigration as a necessity to the survival of our economy and welfare system is unproven. Perhaps, if past Liberal governments had concentrated on the wealth and security of Canadian citizens first, the birth rates would not have become an issue. (I’m not sure that they are anyhow)
I know this is speculative, but no more speculative than carrying on in the present course.
The question must be raised – without rancor, or prejudice – which course would the citizens of Canada want? We must determine our own destiny.
JP A few months ago I was called in by the Armed Forces as a consultant on an inhouse construction job. I arrived expecting a bunch of young men and women ready to work. Imagine my surprise when found out my crew consisted of a bunch of guys in their 40’s & 50’s. Canada is not replacing its population and as a result, all of our wealth is about to become worthless. Its not a case of aging its a case of having a next generation that needs to purchase material goods. Go to almost any small town in Sask. and you will see houses for sale but because there is no one to purchase them the price keeps going down. At present without immigration this will become the norm across Canada.

Just out of curiousity, I notice YouTube pulled the 4 part interview with that former KGB filmed in the late 70’s, where he refers to the Marxist/communist infiltration into North America.
