The Jew-haters at Rabble are publicizing the latest Boycott Chapters-Indigo Picket this Saturday, June 9, in which handfuls of (literally) smelly (I know: I shoved through them last time) unemployed misguided losers protest outside bookstores because a Jewish woman owns them.

Israel is the only nation in the history of civilization expected to give up land it captured in a war, and Palestinians are the only “refugees” still hanging around waiting to go back “home.” Watch old footage of Nassar and co. around the 6 Day War. They don’t talk about “Israel”, they always say “the Jews.” That’s all you need to know.
Please don’t give rabble any more attention than they deserve. The companies that choose to advertise on such a hateful site shouldn’t be rewarded with increased traffic.

I haven’t been the least bit fond of Chapters/Indigo since they dropped all the gun magazines a couple years ago. Seems they didn’t think Canadians needed to be reading that kind of thing.
My protest was to snip my Chapters card and mail it to the company president, then subscribe to the magazines I wanted instead of frequenting their shop.

1) Heather Reisman has standardized literary censorship in Canada. She “bans” books from her vast retail chain she does not agree with ideologically…you will not find books by people like John Lott, John Ross or James Bovard..libertarian, pro firearms, patriotic pro- American, Republican biographicals, shooting manuals, safari hunting..these “themes” are outlawed…and of course no Mein Kampf …all sanitized by the nations self appointed literary social engineer.
You will however, see reams of the latest lib-left social engineering dogmatics on floor displays in vast quantities.
2) Heather Reisman is a confirmed Bilderberger…my guess is that they let her tag along because she has a controlling oligopoly on what the Canadian public reads and is the defacto self appointed politically correct censor of mass merchandised litereature, who has displayed her willingness to censor on a whim. The Global village elites need people like this to control information flow to the Canadian sheeple.
I boycotted this bigoted elitist hag when she banned technical firearms manuals and magazines and justified it by stating “these are not subjects for Canadians to read”…the arrogant imperialist sanctimony dripped from that revealing statement…she obviously sees her roll as the nation’s self-appointed sectarian censor …she later banned controversial libertarian writers.

Sometimes, you just can’t control who lines up on your side of the playground. While I am a strong supporter of Israel, I deplore the blatant and unapologetic censorship as practiced by Ms. Reisman.
By employing book burning tactics that she should, for professional if not cultural heritage reasons, abor, Ms. Reisman just throws fuel on the fire of anti-Semitism and confirms the hidden fears of those who have not yet chosen sides in the debate.
Why she would put her personal feelings about Rush Limbaugh or The Western Standard over the cause of literary freedom is unfathomable to me. The enemies of her faith are dancing in the ashes and chanting, “see, if you let Jews have power they will control everything, even what you can read”.
Much as I hate to be on the same side as Judy Rebick, I will stay there until the Indigo/Chapters/Smith monolith changes it’s policies on censorship.

I would suggest that Reisman learn that you should offer up everything without censore (especially given the near-monopoly she has in brick-and-morter book retailers.) The censorship pattern of Indig–etc. is therefore in effect government censorship and not just Indigo–etc. exercising property rights. Open the country to real book competition and then she can do whatever she likes,. We know the outcome. indigo-etc. loses money even with a monopoly. (Just look at the leasing arrangem,ents Reisman negotiates and you’ll see why–she is not an astute business woman.)

I actually got my copy of More Guns, Less Crime at Chapters before I stopped going there (for the “book burning” reasons previously outlined) – it was in the remainder bin for $5, though. I suppose they were trying to get rid of it ASAP while still making a buck off it.

Here’s the solution: walk in front of the protesters and announce only to them that you are going to spend a ton of money in the store just to spite them, but once inside don’t actually buy anything, and leave a comment card explaining why you refuse to shop there (book-burning etc). Piss off everyone!

A Canadian with an international best seller that’s not available in Canaduh’s bookstores, incredible, and no thanks to Chap/Indigo our only bookstore.
This is what I’ve found and I was wondering if anyone else had the same experience.
The in-store computer will tell you that there are 2 on the shelf, but they won’t be there.

Um, John, perhaps you’re unaware of the history of Islam. Its founder was a warlord. His first acts were to raid caravans for booty and slaves. I really don’t understand this obsession with Israel by the left. I can only surmise that those who criticize it are completely ignorant of both the history and nature of the state of Israel.
To find out what a moderate Muslim thinks about Israel (after visiting both it and the Palestinian territories) lefties should have a read of “The Trouble With Islam Today” by Irshad Manji (www.muslim-refusenik.com). She also helped make a documentary for PBS called “Faith Without Fear”.
She’s hardly what you would call a conservative, so it might be eye-opening to some.

Like WLMR I’ve been boycotting Chapters for years as they refuse to sell gun magazines. I prefer to frequent small bookstores although there don’t seem to be any in Vancouver now and most of my books are now bought in used bookstores in Kamloops. Amazon.com is great although I do miss the ability to find an interesting book and buy it right away instead of waiting a few days.
I have a simple test to determine if I’ll shop at a bookstore; if the magazine section has Guns and Ammo and SOF then I frequent the place.
What do you expect from a website that caricaturized the US Civil War as an imperial struggle, or hosted another discussion on the immorality and racism of inter-racial adoption.

Picketing and disrupting business based on the fact the owners are Jewish is wrong. It evokes that same sick feeling one gets when watching grainy footage from 1930’s Europe. It doesn’t matter what books Heather Reisman chooses to stock or not stock in her store or whether Heather manipulates the system in Canada to her advantage. It is still repugnant.
