    You have written several articles for the soldiers in Afghanistan and for the people who support them, including the freedom seeking people in Afghanistan and Iraq. Willy nillies like Ignatieff, Deyawn, Taliban Jack and their supporters are hot house civilians. These people have never had to work for a living or even defend themselves in the civil society here in Canada. They have never been far from the cloistered ivory towers that their mommy or daddy’s money bought for them.
    Any one of them would be cowering dogs in battle, yet they DEMAND the soldiers who protect their sorry hides answer for unsubstantiated claims of bruising by the Taliban terrorists the soldiers are fighting! The Taliban are NOT soldiers – they are thugs with no morals, no standards, no compassion and no scruples – TERRORISTS do not sign Geneva conventions! Terrorists are criminals who operate outside all laws that govern the humanity inherent in man.
    Not one of those fools that are smearing our soldiers and the Afghan people have ever seen a person hanging in a town mutilated and fly covered, they have never seen beaten and crippled children with haunted eyes (except in National Geographic).
    Why is anyone listening to them? I scream in my head and heart for the brave soldiers who fight for the freedom of others and I hurt for the people who want to live a decent life in the ME. How must it feel to listen to this criticism coming from cowards? They must feel so used by the undeserving and the ungrateful. As a side liner I feel contempt and derision, how must soldiers who are risking their lives feel? I hope they know that many Canadians feel the same anger and contempt for those cowards as you and I.
    These self styled righteous men and women, who are not fit to wipe the boots of the soldiers, would call our soldiers terrorists!! Where did these non Canadians get their credentials? How could my beautiful country have spawned these selfish, coddled, self righteous, mean spirited, childish, naive politicians? Any answers would be appreciated. What is the matter with them?

    One’s mother is Maggie dance-the-night-away-stoned, while the other’s mother is Queen loyal-faithful-hardworking-servant-of-the-realm Elizabeth II.
    One has an adult for a mother and the other has a mother who never seems to have grown up.
    As the Jesuits are fond of saying, “Give me a boy till he’s seven and I’ll show you the man.”
    Justin saw his mom drugged and dancing, while Harry saw his mom sacrificing for and serving others. It would make a difference to the future choices they make.

  15. Been around the block – I don’t mean to be picky but you have made a mistake. Queen Elizabeth II is Harry’s Grandmother. The comparisons may still stand, however they may not have had the same strength if you had compared Harry’s real Mother Diana.

  18. Yes, and Diana was a role model of care, compassion, and service. She took great care that her sons understood their privileged position and that they understood the need to “give back.”

    That would be the model that Harry was brought up to follow, from both his mother and Queen Elizabeth II.

Harry is doing the right thing, but he will be a magnet for every nutbar in Iraq, what a prize…I hiope the Brits have worked out with everyone all of the scenarios including him being captured and held for ransom….a long and “honorable” tradition on “oriental” warfare, think Richard the Liohearted etc etc.
    Justin…..well lets hope he has the sense to try to actually accomplish something before he reaches for the ring, unlike certain other princes/pricesses that have been around the Liberal party lately.
    I suspect this is the next incarnation of him, as is this generations want. He has been actor, journalist, he spent some time at engineering school (?? according to Wells) and is a trained school teacher (????) So the diletente generation, or at least those that can afford it, move on to the next shiny object.
    He may turn out to be in hi element….but his dad was older, his dad had been a major intellectual force in Quebec for some time (not evaluating just stating fact) and had some gravitas.
    The longing for the Trudeau name exists in Toronto and anglo Montreal and only within the Liberal party. No Kennedy could live up to JFK and W is not his dad. BEing well raised helps, but I just hope Justin doesnt breathe his own smoke.

  21. There is really no comparison between Trudeau and Prince Harry, why are we even comparing the two?
    Of course there still are silly people who consider Papa Trudeau to be Royalty. It certainly was evident when the media was falling all over itself at Justin’s wedding, calling it “Canada’s royal wedding!”, enough to make one puke.
    Harry is proving to be a courageous and principled young man. He’s fighting for Queen and Country and has repeatedly said he wants no favors, he’ll fight with his fellow men.
    Don’t expect the Trudeau offspring to be interested in the military, they have more genteel interests it appears. Politics is as close to a blood fight as they’ll get. We really shouldn’t be critical on that count anyway, we don’t have mandatory enlistment or conscription.

  24. Another difference is that the microphone attached to Prince Harry’s helmet works, unlike the handheld microphone Justin tried using at his nomination! (And I wonder if a “celebrity” Conservative nominee made a show of using a handheld microphone to get closer to all of the little people who made his nomination possible, and the mic didn’t work so he had to return to the podium, if that gaffe would have led all the MSM TV coverage of the nomination meeting?)

  29. The royals in Britain have a history and tradition of joining the military and, if need be, deploying to regions where Britain is at war. If nothing else it says they do not perceive themselves so far removed or above the general man and woman of Britain as to be exempt from the responsibility of serving one’s country, even to the point of death in some foreign land. It garners respect from the people, that’s for sure.
    Justin Trudeau elicits no respect from me. For CTV and the liberals of the land, his surname may be hallowed but for this Canadian his surname makes him worthy of derision.

    While backpacking in the Middle East in 1948, Trudeau adopted the local costume and grew a beard. So well did he blend in with the inhabitants that he was mistaken for a Jewish spy by Arab soldiers in Jerusalem! Only the intervention of a Roman Catholic priest spared Trudeau from being charged with espionage, a crime punishable by death!

    I’m old enough to have voted for Trudeau and I did. I actually heard a speech by him at the Hamilton Armory. My Dad took me there to see him once when I was a kid but I was too small and so he lifted me up so I could see him. Even as a kid it was obvious that this guy was great – he was an outstanding communicator and he obviously had a vision for Canada.
    I’m also Irish and I have no respect at all for a bunch of silly royal girls – like Harry – who can do whatever they want because of the still existing class system in Britain.
    Pierre Trudeau was our Prime Minister and he did what he thought was right for our country at that time in history. Let’s respect that and move forward.

    One of these has a family history of the y-chromosome members taking their duty of service to the nation seriously….they enter national service at a young age to defend the nation’s interests and security as soldiers of the realm. As young Y-chromosome heir apparently they play hard but they also take their duty to national service with a deep reverence for tradition and respect for national institutions. He shuns the spotlight and likes privacy and expects no media accolades for doing what he feels is his duty and which many other young men do just as well or better….he is defined by Duty-humility-honor.
    The other y-chromosome privileged moppet rejects substance for the superficial effect of his surname opening doors for him…he also rejects service to the nation where the sacrifice is total…pitting his life at risk to defend his nation and its ideals is not linear with his family philosophy of wielding power from a glass pulpit…in his family’s estimation the armed forces are only good for controlling revolt to the new socialist state…In terms of self worth he feels justified to start a political career at the top rather than learn the ropes in the lower ranks. He also confuses personal social engineering experiments actuated through government power to be the function of a leader in a democratic nation…and speaking of national institutions he is actively deconstructing his nations traditional institutions. His mindset is defined by Privilege-entitlement-ego.
    In sum : these two moppets share a y-chromosome surname key to power. However one sees his national duty in traditional substantive terms and the other sees his duty in more abstractionist manipulative terms.
    One wishes to serve and represent his nation the other wants to remold his nation in his family image. One wishes to preserve the nation and its traditions which his family is deeply tied to, the other wishes to deny tradition and engage statecraft as a social experiment for a neo-patrician class.

  41. Yes, Harry could do what ever he wants, that’s why it’s impressive he’s serving. Is that being a “silly royal girl”? It’s more than most would do for their country, particularly those who define themselves through their ethnicity and its grudges.
    As for trudeau – respect him all you want, spare me the invitation. yeah, I voted for him once, but i did a lot of dumb things when i was young.
    I also had the experience of living in western canada for some years, and discovered the damage he did.

A military nearly destroyed by neglect, Toronto and other major city streets are shooting galleries, half empty prisons, a never ending quest for a socialist system of government, our courts making laws instead of elected officials, unlimited social welfare and legal representaltion to anybody in the world who can manage to set foot on our shores, citizenship for refugees (the only country in the entire world which does so) a decline in patriotism and an increase in the ‘me first’ generation, a lack of committment to our historic allies….need I go on? Yeah, Trudeau had a vision alright. He is where he belongs and it looks good on him.
