Home

It’s been a very long day, and an utterly depressing one. I listened to unfolding events on radio as I drove the last leg home from Minneapolis this morning.
I see Kevin and Co. have kept the place rocking. (My inbox tells me a good number of readers missed the post last week that explained that I’d scheduled items to appear automatically while I was away. That’s why you didn’t receive a reply – except for a few hours on Thursday evening, I’ve been off line.)
At any rate, I need sleep. I’ll be back up to speed by tomorrow, I think.

    OPP Chief Threatens Caledonians
TORONTO – Provincial officials are investigating a complaint against OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino days after the former Toronto police chief sent a “threatening” e-mail to politicians in Caledonia.

In an e-mail dated April 7, Commissioner Fantino warns Haldimand county politicians he will hold them responsible for injuries to OPP officers at Caledonia as a result of anti-occupation protests by a group known as “Caledonia Wake Up Call.”
The rant appears to be sparked by comments by Haldimand Councillor Craig Grice supporting the controversial leader of that group, Gary McHale.
The OPP boss calls Mr. McHale, a Richmond Hill resident “a lightning rod for confrontation and potential violence.”
Commissioner Fantino adds that if further violence results from a McHale-led foray into the community, he will support any officer launching a civil suit, will pass on the ensuing policing costs to the county and will recommend that the OPP not renew its contract with the county when it expires.

  2. Welcome home, Kate. And, just ’cause I appreciate this forum and haven’t done so for a while (if at all), I would like to thank you for your dedication and patience in hosting this blog forum.
When you take a look through the comments, I think you will notice:
    – an old “friend” is back with a different name, but he’s been behaving himself so far; and
    – a relatively new troll (3-4 months of trolling) is starting to make too much of a nuisance of himself.
But, Jaeger and Cjunk have been doing a fine job in your absence (though with a couple of minor hiccups).

  3. Something we’re not seeing from ANY MSM outlet is the fact that the Virginia legislature defeated a bill back in Jan/07 which would have allowed holders of Concealed Carry Weapons permits to carry legally on the campus. Somehow they felt (not thought, but felt) that people would be safer if everybody on campus were disarmed and completely defenseless. It’s not like they couldn’t ‘guess’ that a gunman may attack the campus, it has happened before so it’s not a stretch to imagine it happening again. They KNEW it was a possibility, and they KNOWINGLY voted to ensure that there would be no effective means to stop a shooter until police arrive with THEIR guns. Guns are going to be on the campus regardless, so why wait and let people be murdered in the mean time?

Because you and I,the common plebe, cannot be trusted as to when and where we should be able to defend ourselves and families.YOU do not know what is best for your family, that is up to the state to decide and legislate. The same state that ensures they are secure in their cloistered colonies, but the same people who work to support and provide these people with their colonies are not allowed the same privelege.
Looking down deep, maybe we plebes ARE unfit for that task of protection, because we allow the others to tell us how to run our lives.

  9. Welcome home, Kate.
First of all that email Craig Grice sent was to my son Jason! All it stated was this: Craig said he has never stop Gary from coming here: that’s ALL!!
Haldimand County is pressuring Craig too!!
I am ashamed Craig who is trying so hard and by the way is a real NICE guy: is being pressured like he has been!!!! Same on Haldimand County: Same on the OPP: Shame on both levels of Government most of all!!!
There was a meeting on the DCE: ALL the main chief’s across Canada were there!
So this is bigger then what we think: like they said this is not about Caledonia and Caledonia is JUST a tip of the ice burgee!!
Be ready for June 29th coming soon: I am not talking about Canada weekend either: see if it happens!!
Craig does live on the front lines here: spring is coming we know what that means if they don’t get there way!!
Kate I will keep you up dated if you like!!
The BIG question is: will Caledonia back Graig up: I will for sure!!!!
