“To recognize Indo-Canadians’ impressive entrepreneurial success in B.C., Dion promised a future Liberal government would erect an India Gate in both South Vancouver and Surrey, and offer an official apology for Canada’s refusal to let hundreds of Indian immigrants into the country nearly 100 years ago.”
This is ironic, but I’m sure Dion doesn’t see it . They refused to extend the security certificates so Air India suspects, who murdered Indo-Canadians, could finally face interrogation, but they’ll waste money on a symbol.
Conveniently, both the BC premier, and the Canadian PM were Conservatives, McBride and Borden, so the Liberals can enjoy sneering at almost century old racism.
A Liberal PM would have allowed the ship to berth unimpeded, like a later liberal PM demonstrated in 1940 with a ship load of Jews from France. No bigotry there.
Help Intervene for Max Charbonneau http://www.ab.paoc.org/resources/?id=1&news_id=400 http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/News/National/2007/03/13/3742009-sun.html
It has been 8 months since Max Charbonneau, the 19-year-old son of our missionaries Michel and Louise, was arrested. He returned to Haiti last June to visit his parents and while there was questioned and detained by the police on July 17, 2006. The arrest is related to an alleged kidnapping case involving a young lady that Max went to school with.
He is now 20 and is still in jail. To date he has never been charged and the judge assessing the case has not been able to provide any evidence to keep him in prison. However, Max is still there and we are no nearer to obtaining his release than we were eight months ago.
We are asking for both immediate prayer and help. Michel and Louise believe this week is an opportune and crucial moment and they need your help. We need a miraculous intervention.
The Canadian government is about to announce a $500 million aid package to Haiti and we feel this is an opportunity for them to request the Haitian government to give due process of justice to a Canadian citizen. Why should a Canadian be held without charge in a country where we are providing this kind of support? Our citizens deserve to be treated fairly and justly.
We have been working with the government to obtain Max’s release and through the Canadian consulate they have been very active in helping us. But we feel there may be more they can do.
We have asked our government to use this donation as leverage and would like to have further pressure placed on them by telephone and letter campaign from our constituency.
Please request the members of your congregation to write to Ministers Peter MacKay and Jose Verner or phone our government at any level and ask them to use the leverage they have to assist Max Charbonneau!
The two issues to emphasize are these:
1. That Max, a Canadian citizen, is being denied justice and due process. He has never been charged and to date has never been able to defend himself in any court of law.
2. That if we are going to give Haiti financial assistance then we expect them to treat our citizens justly and fairly. Is it right to give Haiti $500 million when they do not accord our citizens justice and due process?
In addition, we want you to encourage people to phone and write the Department of Foreign Affairs and express their desire for the government to advocate for Max. Please have them copy their letters to their own MPs so that we can maximize the pressure on the government.
and another citizen(s) of convenience is(are) pandered to.
Iranian citizens (parents) apparently traveling on fake Greek passports with a Canadian born 9 year old son were detained en route to Canada. (Ottawa Citizen/Tues.
They have apparently been granted temporary status in Canada while things are “sorted out”. Temporary…. my ***.
The gov’t has a chance to at least try to change a negative trend in C-IRB and what happens – they (the minister actually) totally blow it.
Anybody hear about that U.S. general telling it like it is and now having the whole gay lobby on his back. Thank goodness for people like him. America might not be dead yet if they have a few more people with his backbone.
“I’m the most influential opposition leader in history.”

heh. The gift that…
This family was deported from Canada several years ago. They better be fitted with a tracking device when they get back here. The son supposedly wrote a letter, in crayon, to our PM. Does anyone believe he did that on his own. Sort of like that girl on utube wanting a cardboard house.

I gather that 80% of the original Palestine mandate intended as the reconstituted Jewish homeland was cut out for Transjordan to give Sharif Hussein of Mecca a place to hang out.
I heard dion make that stmt on the cbc during a press conference a few days ago. He also said something like the PM is just recycling liberal programs. He was also bashing the PM for going on a spending spree.
If the PM is implementing and funding liberal policy and Dion says it is wrong, does that mean he thinks liberal programs were wrong, and that is why chretain/martin did not put them in place.

Creators of carbon credit scheme cashing in on it
Canada Free Press ^ | March 13, 2007 | Judi McLeod
There’s an elephant in global warming’s living room that few in the mainstream media want to talk about: the creators of the carbon credit scheme are the ones cashing in on it.
The two cherub like choirboys singing loudest in the Holier Than Thou Global Warming Cathedral are Maurice Strong and Al Gore.
This duo has done more than anyone else to advance the alarmism of man-made global warming.
With little media monitoring, both Strong and Gore are cashing in on the lucrative cottage industry known as man-made global warming.
Strong is on the board of directors of the Chicago Climate Exchange, Wikipedia-described as “the world’s first and North America’s only legally binding greenhouse gas emission registry reduction system for emission sources and offset projects in North America and Brazil.” …
The skeptics of man-made global warming believe that Gore and Strong have made climate change “the new religion”. Climate change is not the first religion both parties have tried to make stick. Along with former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev, Strong, currently president of the Earth Council, has been boasting of replacing the Ten Commandments with the Earth Charter, a golden rule guide for how the masses should treat the environment.
Gore, who has given sermons at the United Nations sponsored Cathedral of St. John the Divine Church in New York City, is a promoter of the religion known as Gaia.
The two environmental gurus also share a belief in radical Malthusian population reduction. According to them, too many people, particularly in the U.S. are polluting the planet, emitting excessive Freon through their refrigerators and jacking up the air conditioning.
But the conduct of Al Gore and Maurice Strong in the capitalist world is one for the books. It’s a side of them that may have remained unknown had it not been for the investigative talent of the Executive Intelligence Review (EIR). …- http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/cover031307.htm
So, Dion says “”I’m the most influential opposition leader in history.”
From what I’ve seen of him, opposition leader is the pinnacle of his achievements. If being an influential opposition leader means never becoming PM, then probably he is right.
Also, I don’t recall the Indo-Canadian community asking for an apology; I do recall them begging Mr Dion to renew the terror provisions.
This man is pandering to the ethnic community, an old Liberal approach. I guess each party has its constituencies. If Harper can dip into that urban support, even a bit, he could swing some ridings. The wild card – the abysmal NDP performance, particularly Jack Layton, since Dion won LPC leadership.
Yesterday on Duffy, the NDP finally went after the Liberals, much to the delight of Bernard Lord. The NDP must go after Dion because that’s where their lost votes are parked. I know I’m biased – this would of course cause vote splitting on the left. BTW, Pat Martin, keep talking about an NDP/LPC coalition (the utopians meet the corrupt). This is the final element Harper needs to go after his majority. All bluster of course. The only party ready for an election is the Liberals.
I noticed Jim Travers got it wrong again. On Sunday’s QP, he insisted our GG went to Afghanistan for the benefit of us back home. Wrong! Jean knows the GG has a special relationship with the CF and I’m sure she went to Afghan for the troops. Good for her, keep up the good work Ms Jean, it means a lot to the troops.
Nice try Travers with this plank in your argument that CPC engineering election. Apparently if they bring a budget and it is defeated by combined opposition, this will mean their engineered their own defeat. Come down from your ivory tower, Jim.
Kate, this is what Dion said:
‘I might just be the most influential Leader of the Opposition in a generation.’

Christian Democrats recieve death threats
By Peter Jean and Drew Cratchley
March 13, 2007
NSW Christian Democratic Party leader Reverend Fred Nile said today he had received death threats over his call for a moratorium on Islamic immigration to Australia.
Mr Nile, who is recontesting his upper house seat at the March 24 state election, on Saturday called for a 10-year ban on Islamic immigration.
He wants the immigration department to give preference to persecuted Christians while studies on the impact of Islamic immigration are carried out during the moratorium.
Mr Nile has previously called for a ban on the wearing of full-face scarves in NSW.
Today, he said he and another Christian Democratic Party (CDP) candidate had received death threats in recent days.
On Friday, a man had telephoned Allan Lotfizadeh, the CDP candidate for the western Sydney electorate of Auburn, and said: “You Christian pig. You are dead”, Mr Nile said.
Yesterday, Mr Nile said, a man approached a CDP election worker at Granville and asked her where he (Mr Nile) lived, and what he had against Muslims.
She had then said: “Tell Fred Nile I am going to act out my faith on him”.
Mr Nile said he believed the threats were linked to his statements on Islamic immigration and full-face scarves.
“I think, if they’re talking about the Muslim issue it’s related to the Muslim issue,” he said.
Mr Nile said the threats, which have been reported to police, highlighted the need for the immigration moratorium.

An idea I’ve often said as the sane thing to do. I’m glad it’s starting to catch on.
Native Americans, (and Canadians), can tell you what happens when we do not control immigration!
To think that citizenship is automatically conferred to a kid who is born in Canada to parents who sneaked in here in the first place, just boggles the mind! Now- let’s see their immigration lawyer’s bill?

Harper stealing Dion’s ideas????
Reality Check: from the comments at Currents; Topic: Stephen Harper’s Brain being taken over by Liberal mind control scientists:
Comment by Shannon:
Some years ago a young Alliance MP from Calgary, Stephen Harper, tabled a Private member’s bill to “clarify” the questions around the Quebec separation issue.
The ruling Liberals, under Jean Chretien, demonized the bill and the young MP and it did not even survive first reading.
Soon after PM Chretien called up a separtist expert on Marxism who was teaching Sociology at a MOntreal University, A Mr. Stephane Dion.
Jean made this professor an amazing offer. He offered him to be an unelected Cabinet Minister with the role of being the public face of “Unity Minister” for Quebec, a ministry which also had a secret slush fund which ultimately became AdScam.
The first important duty for the unelected Mr. Dion was to take young Stephen Harper’s failed private member’s bill , plagiarize it and rename it as “The Clarity Bill” and present it for swift passage in government.
Since Mr. Dion was unelected he could not even present or debate for his “own” bill in the house so his lack of personal knowledge about this bill was never revealed to the public.
Today, this same Mr. Dion who eventually got elected because he was “the father of the Clarity Bill” now must face the same Stephan Harper he plagiarized his only so called “success” from.
The good professor now accuses Mr. Harper of “stealing” his ideas???
I sense a good sitcom here. It is laughable if it was not so very sad.

Sometimes I feel like I’m the only person in Canada who doesn’t own a cell phone, and I don’t think I ever will. Watching people barking into their phones at the gym, on ski hills and in restaurants, I wonder why they bother to go there in the first place. But that’s their personal choice. What really bugs me is the planned obsolescence of so many of these technologies. …- (canoe news)

Mr, Moisan, a retired bureaucrat and University professor said it never happened. “I don’t know how he could have imagined that. I had nothing to do with Stephane. And I never sensed any interest on his part for my work.” – G&M, feb 19, 07
“The other thing we need to do now is to have a plan for adaptation because even though we are trying to reach Kyoto, and we need to, you need 60 Kyotos – ten Kyotos, excuse me, ten Kyotos to only eliminate the current problem.”
– CBC, The National, dec 7, 06
Jane Taber: “So why should Canadians trust you, because you were part of that government where we did see the greenhouse gas emissions go up? Dion replied, “Because I have been a bery successful Minister of Environment. Madam Elizabeth May give me a prize or recognition for what I have done…And also what I have done for nature to portect the, our seabirds. I received a prize for that…” – Mike Duffy, dec 5, 06
“To start to elect the senators now would be a mistake. It would be detrimental for the province of the prime minister especially. So I will protect Alberta against Mr. Harper.” – Calgary herald, feb 16, 07
“I have been celebrated as a hero, if you allow me to say so…”

Hardline clerics urge tax cheating
Richard Kerbaj
March 13, 2007
HARDLINE Muslim clerics are encouraging their followers to cheat the tax system because they consider paying income tax contrary to Islamic law.
Muslim leaders have warned that fundamentalist imams who put sharia law ahead of Australian law are also condoning welfare fraud and the cash economy as tax-evasion methods.
Sydney-based Islamic leader Fadi Rahman told The Australian that the extremist clerics who were preaching messages against paying income taxes were also staunchly opposed to Western ideologies, including the Australian way of life.
He said he had heard hardline clerics at Friday sermons in Sydney highlight the importance of cheating the tax system.
“I mean, just like how you’ve got clerics (with) extreme views who are telling the Muslims in the Western world to declare war against the very country that they live in and the very country that is paying for their day-to-day life, you’ll find that these are the clerics who are telling them to dodge the tax system,” said Mr Rahman, a youth leader and the president of the Independent Centre for Research Australia.
“Tax, itself, is not allowed in Islam. So they (clerics) encourage them that if there’s any way that you can dodge paying the tax, then you should do it.”
Thanks, irwin daisy, for those fascinating diongalisms (what a neat word). Something between a logo, jingo, gallic and galling and the systemic nature of ‘ism’. Ahh.
He’s quite the narcissist, isn’t he? He almost out-narcisses Jean Chretien whom I thought was The Ultimate Narcissist.
But Dion’s monumental Ego is quite something. It’s so enormous that he can’t see he’s walking in a Hollow Cave.

Remember Dwight Schultz? “Howling Mad” on The A-Team?
Guess what he’s doing now.
He’s fighting the Islamic fascists by countering their propaganda on his brand-new radio show, “Howling Mad Radio”. He understands the whole Islamic jihad thing and isn’t afraid to tell it like it is.

The legend in his own mind, Mike Duffy, of the Duffy Live, CTV show was most annoying tonight.
He had McGrath for NDP and Kennedy for Liberals and Ms Benoit for Conservatives. He let Kennedy relieve himself of verbal diarrhea as usual with McGrath getting her two cents worth against him while our Conservative gal tried to butt in unsuccessfully.
Duffy let them go.
In the end Benoit said, “I didn’t get a word in” to which Duffy replied “but I’m sure you enjoyed listening to them”.
His show should be boycotted. Why would anyone want to be on his show to fill a seat and be
ignored?
MIke should call it the “Gerard Kennedy” sound off segment and just wind up this pompous rude interrupting little wannabe and stick him in front of the camera until his motormouth stops.
Duffy should never be so rude and thoughtless to invite two busy people from the Conservatives and the NDP then treat them like mute bookends to a Kennedy Liberal rant. If I was still in media relations I would adivise my clients to decline to be on Duffy’s show until he can get control of Mr. Food bank everything I have to say true or not is more important than anybody else.
Also, if Gerard continues to interrupt people he just looks stupid and scared that someone might take him to task for his outrageous baloney.
But then, if the “so called most experienced political talk show host” Mike Duffy can’t control him one starts to suspect Duffy does not really want oppossing views- just invites other guests to give the appearance.
I would suggest that Conservatives refuse to go on these “panels” until Duffy remembers how to lead one.
So, I hear Kennedy is continuing his “talk over you” points.
I think Kennedy is feeling some congnitive dissonance over his actions that ultimately brought Stephane Dion to leadership of LPC. I call them the lefty and the marxist. They have nothing to add to politics. Karen Redman was just as bad, arrogantly tryine to equate Gordon O’Connor to Donald Rumsfeld. Quite pitiful.
I think they know they are done like dinner – just trying to put up a brave front.
If they think Conservative and Stevie are so bad, why not force an election? Bluff and bluster. It’s only a matter of time before electorate puts the boots to them by electing Conservative majority. They have nothing to offer but a record of corruption and incompetence.
The more I hear from this B-rated team, the more confident I am in a CPC majority soon. Love it.
Socialism in Zimbabwe: The Media; the torture practices. Hell on earth. …-
“The media in Zimbabwe is owned and operated by the Mugabe regime.
So Sunday’s aftermath, aka how the events are being portrayed, is in the hands of the State. Zimbabweans, since last night, are being force fed a diet of MDC thuggery, non-attendance and opposition violence.” …
The methods of torture are beating all over the body with baton sticks, falanga (beating the feet), pulling their teeth so they become loose, tying hands and feet together and hanging them up like that while they beat them. As I receive many of them at a medical facility in the city, I see it with my own eyes and hear their stories first hand.
What must be remembered is that severe torture, including the falanga, has long term effects, not just psychologically but also physically. The generally unknown statistics are those torture victims who die a year or two later as a result of the torture.
What the state is doing now is tantamount to another form of Genocide – “systematically dealing with the out group”. But no-one likes to recognise it as such. “It is too strong a word” I was told by the EU representative for Human rights two years ago when I presented them with a photographic record of five years of HR’s abuses in Zimbabwe. And warned them that much worse was still to come! If “that word” is used, then it means the UN and others are obliged to do something.
We know, as does the rest of the world, that the UN only acts “too late, with too little”. Ruwanda is the most horrific and recent example of this. …- http://zimpundit.blogspot.com/2007/03/police-murder-man-arrest-and-torture.html
I’ve noticed the same thing on Duffy lately and not just from Kennedy. Lib Senator Maxime Bernier (sp?) is as bad if not worse….just in a smarmy, condescending, sing-song, saccarine sort of way.
Get rid of that old fart and put Rutherford back on.

Very very funny/sad Liberal story here from Alberta.
A friend of mine who knows I follow Federal politics just called. He is a “former Liberal ” from the days of Anne McClelland where you had to be a Liberal if you were a lawyer or you would never get any appointments or Federal contracts,, even in Alberta. It was a career move here, had nothing to do with political convictions.
So, as a lawyer, his name is on Liberal lists because his law firm insisted that all of their lawyers “volunteer” amd shmoooze with the Liberals.
Today a frantic Liberal organizer from Ontario called him up to ask if he would let his name stand as a Liberal candidate in the next federal election , which, said this person -is going to be called in April.
My friend declined the “honour”. The pot was then sweetened. He could choose any open riding he wanted in the Edmonton area (that is most of them) and he would be appointed, so no nomination battles.
My friend said no, he was busy with his career and would not have time to campaign and he did not want to be a politician and definately not move to Ottawa.
No problem, said the organizer. You don’t have to campaign. We just want to make sure we have a name for every riding in Canada. We are not planning to put any money into Edmonton ridings so you don’t even have to worry about winning.
We just want to have a full slate.
He then reminded him that any Liberal would get thousands of votes anyways of the rock solid Liberal voters and the Liberal party really needed the money they get for every vote. (that’s $1.75 per vote).
Still playing along my friend said – how many ridings are you planning on running candidates who don’t want to win in just to get the per vote money?
The guy said -well, we always write off Alberta but we can get a whack of cash without even trying out there.
He then asked if there were any other “names” who would be willing to “run” around Edmonton, throwing in “we are looking for women and if we can get aboriginals or a few in burkas all the better”.
There is much more to this conversation but that is the part I would like to share for now.
The University of Saskatchewan faculty of medicine is having so much trouble retaining staff that they have a program to intervene in hiring practices when spouses of staff apply for jobs in Saskatoon.
I was called by the dean, Dr. William Albritton, himself when the husband of a faculty member applied for a position I have open.
Publicly funded institutions attempting to interfere in private industry hiring. Wonderful, innit it?
“HARDLINE Muslim clerics are encouraging their followers to cheat the tax system because they consider paying income tax contrary to Islamic law.”
Mmmm, this is actually a good reason to convert to radical Islam. And in Canada, who knows – the SCC will probably rule in your favour anyways. Besides, what’s the difference between tax avoidance and tax deferral – a prison cell.
Here’s a quote from the Quebec provincial debate tonite I’m sure everyone will love:
– Boisclair: Nous payons des MILLARDS de dollars en taxes pour aider les compagnies petrolieres en Alberta…pour polluer l’atmosphere.
– Roughly translated: We subsidize the Alberta oil sands to the tune of billions of dollars, out of our taxes to pollute the atmosphere.
Gee, you learn something everyday.
Tonight I watched the docu-drama “Jonestown: Paradise Lost”, the story of events leading up to Jim Jones’ more than 900 followers willingly drinking the cyanide-laced Kool-Aid in 1978. The production has some flaws, but I thought it was effective in showing the effects of sheeplike unquestioning obedience to a charismatic leader and dedication to socialist utopianism.
LGF has a story about a Target store in Minneapolis, where a cashier refused to ring thru a customers pizza because it contained pork. She had to call another cashier to do it for her. Of course the cashier was a female muslim. Lots of good comments on this story. Could it happen in Canada. Maybe the question should be, Has it happened in Canada, yet.
Couldn’t those two women who went to the arctic to prove global warming be classed as sheep following gore/suzuki. They said it was warming and they believed them.

http://www.ab.paoc.org/resources/?id=1&news_id=400
http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/News/National/2007/03/13/3742009-sun.html
OK, we will bite that bait. On Multiculturalism: I am not an anthrologist:

and another citizen(s) of convenience is(are) pandered to.

Some months ago a sda poster made the comment: The “Palestinians got their state – Jordan”. Being a bit ME history-challenged I was puzzled. No longer.

It’s in his March 8, 2007 speech, in the last part, the Conclusion section. Go to the Liberal web site, under News and Speeches. The title is Canada Must Take on The World.
From the Australian:

Liberal Bloggers advises Liberals to Legalize marijuana and Euthanasia simply to get media coverage: No kidding:
10)Promise to legalize marijuana, euthanasia and in the firestorm that is sure to follow the Canadian media will brand the Conservative party in ways that will hurt the Conservatives at the polls. Although extremely conservative in outlook, Macleans, the National Post, the Fraser Institute and even a large chunk of the Sun media pundits back legalization of marijuana. A plan to legalize euthanasia will be equally well received.
