Maurice Strong, back in the news

Now proposing the establishment of a permanent World Climate Commission:

The commission would be mandated by the United Nations and would be autonomous in its operations. It would draw upon and reinforce the efforts and mandates of other organizations, notably, the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change, as the primary source of scientific advice, the United Nations Environment Program, the World Meteorological Association, and the UN secretariat serving the Climate Change Convention. It would seek out and respond to the advice of other organizations and actors, providing the channels through which they can contribute to the kind of focused and concerted action that is essential, and for which no single body is now responsible. It would monitor all activities involving climate change and report to governments and to the UN, evaluating the progress and performance of all of the actors, providing specific recommendations that would be expected to have a significant influence on public opinion and on the actions of government, industry and others.

The man just never gives up.

  1. The following content is no longer available on-line, so please excuse me for reproducing it in its entirely here. On 2005-01-18, Charles R. Simith, from News Max, wrote the following:
“One of those who made out like a bandit [in the Oil-for-Food Scandal] is a rich Canadian whose bank made millions and whose Paris-based holding companies include the originally French-Belgian oil company TotalFina Elf, which cut lucrative deals with Saddam’s Iraq and is currently operating in war-torn Sudan.
[…] “the European-based BNP Paribas bank, which the U.N. chose to administer the program […] reportedly received nearly $1 billion for its efforts. Congressional investigators reviewing the bank’s actions have discovered broken rules, missing documents and improper transfers by BNP Paribas, which up until now has been assumed to be a French bank.
“In fact, BNP Paribas is actually controlled by Power Corporation, an appropriately named Canadian company that has a shocking track record of ‘business’ relationships with the worst gangsters and tyrannical regimes in the world.
“BNP Paribas also has one other distinguishing feature: a direct corporate and familial relationship with the persons running the government of Canada for the last 20 years. […]
“BNP Paribas bank is part of a holding company, Pargesa Holding, which is jointly owned and controlled by the Frère and Desmarais families. Paul Desmarais Sr. is the chairman of the group, while Albert Frère is the vice-chairman. Gerald Frère, Albert’s son, is one of three general managers who oversee day-to-day operations, and Paul Desmarais Jr. is also an officer.
“Pargesa, and thus Power Corporation and the Canadian Desmarais family, holds a controlling significant stake in TotalFina Elf, the Belgian-French petroleum multinational corporation formed from the merger of Total and Petrofina.
“BNP Paribas and TotalFina may have blood-stained corporate histories, but the intimate and intricate connections of Power Corp. to Canada’s governing elite raise the truly disturbing questions.
“Power Corporation CEO Andre Desmarais is the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Jean Chretien, who went out of his way to oppose U.S. intervention in Iraq, where the family’s business interests with the Saddam regime would be jeopardized.
“Current Canadian PM Paul Martin is a former Power Corporation employee who made his fortune when he bought Canada Steamship Lines from Power Corp. aided by loans from Power Corp. To this day both CSL and Power are reported to have mutual equity interests in each other.
“The most senior foreign affairs/international trade adviser to current Canadian PM Paul Martin is Maurice Strong, former CEO of Power Corp. and a longtime U.N. and Kofi Annan adviser.
“So, who is TotalFina Elf? Just an oil company that cut a deal with Saddam to develop and exploit the Majnoon and Nahr Umar oil fields in southern Iraq. These properties are estimated to contain as much as 25 percent of the country’s oil reserves.
“With Saddam under arrest, the Canadian-controlled company has expanded its “client base” and now has a deal with the murderous Sudanese regime to quietly extract its oil and funnel profits back to Khartoum for its infamous social programs.
“Disgusted by the lethargic pace and willful blindness of the U.N.-led investigation of itself headed up by Paul Volcker, the U.S. Congress opened its own investigation. Committee investigators found that eight government agencies notified BNP Paribas about “deficiencies” in handling money in the U.N. program. […]”
    /End Excerpts
Note that on 2004-12-16 CNS News reported that Paul Volcker, head of the U.N. review of itself, is “A member of the international advisory council of Montreal-based Power Corporation of Canada.”

  2. What really frightens me about all these UN climate change directives is that twenty years from noe when the climate naturally starts cooling they will be there to take the credit.

  3. Not just power, ET, Total Strong Power. I am arguably a capitalist. Technically, I’m more of a free-marketeer, because there are plenty of valid markets that are not capital intensive, but I don’t wish to quibble. Meanwhile, I am an anti-corporatist. What we see in Mr. Strong and his cronies, both within Canada and without, is an attempt to manage by oligarchy to be de facto Kings, without the understanding of the electorate.
Personally, if I may invoke a Monty Python tradition, I’d like to see them hit over the head by a 16 ton copy of the Magna Carta. But enough with the jocularity. This is serious. Either we defeat people like Mr. Strong, or we defeat democracy.

  4. To kick start the program is Strong going to throw in the millions dollars he got from Sadam on the Oil For Food Progam? Another slimy socialist!

  5. Man I hope Harper can stay in power long enough to see some of these scary socialists drop off the face of the planet.

  6. Thanks for posting that ET.
Adscam is childs’ play compared to the implications of that article. We have a political party in the pocket of a private corporation running the country and influencing foreign policy, not in the national interest but Power Corp interests.
What is worse is we have a judiciary appointed by the above parties and a media who both ignore what’s going on.
    Can you say Banana Republic???
Welcome to Liberal la la la land. And these morons are close in the polls. No wonder when the polling orgs are asking “appropriate” questions – if any – and a media (that is in the pocket of the Liberals with promises of senate seats or more) reports breathlessly how close the “race” is..
Obviously, Harper is not popular with the beneficiaries of the status quo and I would wager not willing to play their game.
It’s called an uphill battle to regain control of our country from a tainted judiciary, blind bureaucrats and a complicit media.
    Godspeed Harper

  7. Here is the link for Meredit Carwright who is running against Bob rae for the Liberal nomination in Toronto.
I believe that, for the good of Canada, Bob Rae should not be allowed anywhere near the seat of power to be used by his uncle Maurice Strong and his brother John Rae of PowerVorp.
Bob Rae has his fingers in many of the same pies. These people at one time controlled the federal government with Jean Chretien at the helm AND the Province of Ontario with Bob Rae at the helm. One can only imagine what that kind of absolute power yielded for this dangerous cartel which stretches into the communist and terrorist bastions throughou the world.
let’s help Meredith defeat Bob Rae.

  8. He is Dr. Evil in the flesh and not on the movie screen. Just think of the trilllllions of dollars us and our children will waste if this socialist doesn’t soon croak. And the pathetic media types at ctv and cbc won’t touch this. That was an easy prediction.

  9. Good old circumpolar Mo.
For someone who has been at the centre of world power and wielded power directly in Canada as well, Maurice is just too modest in my view.
For him to shill for the corrupt UN to be the sole director and world climate monitor is frightening beyond description.
My hope is that Harper has the sense to use whatever power he now has to shut down the notion of the corrupt UN’s “one world Kyoto” ambitions.
One O’clock in the morning is not the best time to be reading a Mo Strong essay in a sympathetic and enabling Canadian MSM.

  10. One of my favourite authors ever, Mr. Steven Den Beste, wrote on 2002-08-14 an essay on the matter of transnational progressivism, as it has come to be called. This is one of the most important essays, in my opinion, on the systems structure, rather than the details, of the type of problem that faces us in the name of Mr. Strong: denbeste.nu/cd_log_entries/2002/08/Transnationalprogressivis.shtml

  11. No worries, he’s just proposing to create another layer or six of bureaucracy, which will do nothing except waste paper and electricity, and generate a lot of hot air, all of which, I thought, were precisely the sort of thing Mr. Strong wanted other people to stop doing.

  12. Support PM Harper and David Emerson:
    India is Canada’s Natural Ally.
Kick Old Mao Strong in the testicles. …-
    # Fergy Says:
    March 7th, 2007 at 1:19 pm
I never understood the benefits of trading with China. They take our non-renewable resources, steal our technology, dump sub-standard cheap crap on us, have a horrible human rights record, and jail our citizens, when there is a business dispute as leverage.
All that and we are actually in a trade deficit with them… go figure.
    …-
    Remember the Elephant
David Harris of the Canadian Coalition for Democracies on Canada’s emphasis on China rather then India when it comes to trade:
India, through its multi-ethnic, multi-religious secular-democratic system of governance, has come to maturity as the world’s biggest democracy. A fellow-inheritor of British judicial traditions of rule of law and due process, it leaves Beijing’s neo-Stalinist secret police skulking far behind. To treat with India is to reinforce human rights and constitutional government for a good proportion of the planetary population. To treat with Beijing is to reinforce a police or gulag slave state — and one that undermines our balance of payments and employment, to boot. …
So how should Trade Minister Emerson take all this into account next week? Make clear that Ottawa will build India more fully into Canada’s policies and plans. Make India — and not just, as at present, China — part of the billion-dollar Asia-Pacific Gateway Strategy. Work to develop educational, social, business promotion and trade links with Delhi. Expand Canada-India foreign direct investment. Recognize the moral authority of the largest democracy, by supporting India’s bid for a seat on the United Nations Security Council — where China is already ensconced. And, without delay, accelerate progress on these fronts by ensuring that the next passage to India has the prime minister, finance minister and other ministers on board.
India is the future that Canada should be part of. India is one boat Mr. Harper’s ministers shouldn’t miss. …-

  13. Lest we forget, in 1980 (?) it was Mo whom Trudeau put in charge of stalled negotiations to purchase Belgian Petro-Fina’s string of gas stations as a starting point for Petro-Canada. Negotiations had broken down because Petro-Fina was asking way too much. Mo solved that by offering more than they were asking. The deal went through amid huge uproar in the House, led by Opposition Leader, Muldoon. Trudeau imposed cabinet secrecy on the deal and even the Auditor General was refused access (four consecutive years). When Mulroney took control he immediately announced it would not be in the public interest to reveal who was paid the $200-$300 million unaccounted for in the deal. We STILL do not know, but obviously the grease was widely shared.
Mo Strong derives power from his knowledge of where a lot of bodies are buried. Harper could bust that by letting us see the Petro-Fina file after more than 25 years.

  14. Moe won’t stop until the UN weasels the power to TAX member nations…and he will wrangle a UN position in “redistributing” said tax proceeds to his favorite cause/investment; Chinese global industrial monopolization.
As outrageous as Moe’s thinking is, we can be thankful that the US is still a large player in restraining wacky UN politics….and they have written Moe off years ago…I think they even have warrants out for the little red gerbil.
So Moe is a spent political force within US sphere of influence.
The down side is the bugger is still connected to the Powercor-LPC cartel eminating from Quebec ( and formerly the PMO) and these mutts have made Canada’s domestic and foreign policy fit the profitability scale of Moe’s schemes…fortunately they now have limited power with the Harper Government in charge.
DeYawn’s forcing the Kyoto targets on the minority Harper government is a last-ditch extention of this decades-old Strong-Powercor-LPC-Kyoto-Chinese investment profits agenda…and Harper is about to club the LPC “kyoto dog” over the head with it for a final blow to this cartel’s influence in Canadian policy.
Next thing Harper has to do is clean out the Strong-Powercor sycophants in the foreign dept, and the UN…clean house there and I think the Strong-Desmarais-LPC cartel snake will be mortally wounded.
When Harper forms a majority government then is the time to go over all the tax dodges the Powercor PMs gave the Strong-Powercor cartel and go collect those back taxes…effectively cutting the head of this snake of a Cartel that has been systemically robbing Canada for decades.

  15. Vitruvius – thanks very much for both your outline of the Canadian Liberal Party’s involvement in an international corrupt oligarchy, and, that excellent link to the article on ‘transnational progressivism’ – of which the UN is the public ‘tip of the iceberg’.
The agenda of transnational progressivism is indeed insidious and terrifying. It rejects the basic essence of our species, homo sapiens, which is our ability to reason, think, analyze. It rejects this ability and right – which the Magna Carta, and the US Declaration and Amendments all assert – that right and duty to think as individuals.
Politically, what this right means is that the individual citizen “is the foundation of the state, that all power resides with the collective citizenry, and that they grant to the government limited power to govern. ” In such a political system, the gov’t is answerable to the people, who must have full access to information, and must debate, make choices – and inform that gov’t of their conclusions.
Instead, it sets up an elite, unelected oligarchy as rulers, who move in via economic control (eg, Strong, PowerCorp). This group then moves into operate within the unelected and unaccountable bureaucracies of the UN, the International Court, the EU bureaucracy, etc.
This elite oligarchy makes the decisions. Not the people, who are assumed to be mindless peasants, aka the Liberal statement rejecting giving childcare money to Canadian parents because they will just spend it ‘on beer and popcorn’.
Note that this structure of an unelected set of ‘leaders’, who use international bureaucracies as their agents – is actually quite similar to a feudal system of the hereditary landed class who control all resources – and the peasants. In between, is the church and bureaucracy. This transnational progressivism is actually a REGRESSION to pre-Magna Carta days, to feudal medieval era data.
Some other key axioms in transnational progressivism, besides this two-class structure, and the non-existence of individuals, and the denial of reasoning capacity to the Lower Class, are the privileging of GROUPS.
People/peasants are not identified as individuals but as members of groups with set identities. So, you are a member of an ethnic group, whose characteristics are defined as static and unique. Assimilation is rejected. The group is privileged. By the way – this is also the nature of the Canadian Charter of Rights which privileges group identities over individual rights.
Equality of results rather than equality of opportunity is another axiom. This sets up quota systems (eg Dion’s quote of women in parliament, SSM, affirmative action etc). Merit is lost, individual capabilities and work is lost.
These axioms and agenda are actually a perverse form of socialism, which has transformed from a rejection of class to one which is rejecting democracy and attempting to move the world back into a medieval class-based elitist era.
On TVO’s The Agenda last night, the discussion was on the meaning of ‘Progressive’ – which the Liberals are using as a self-defined label. The word itself, in its dictionary meaning, implies a movement forward in time, an advancement in behaviour, belief, technology. But the political transformation of this term has none of these meanings in it.
Instead, the Liberal/NDP politicization of the word has a regressive meaning. It means a political system that is socialist or collectivist, but, is also oligarchic and class-based. This transnational progressivism is a new mode of socialism, a class-based socialism, a modern oligarchy.
The political progressive is setting up a two-class system, with an unelected elite class controlling all resources – and the population defined as irrational peasants, with no rights to govern themselves (beer and popcorn). In between these two sets – are the unelected bureaucrats, the international bodies (UN, ICC, IPCC, EC etc).
Kyoto, by the way, is a tactic of this elite group, for it gets the industrial countries to fund the industrial dev’t of the developing countries – but these new industries are controlled by this group.
SDA has a chart on Connecting the Power, in its archives of 01/12/2006. The chart clearly shows the links between the Liberals, Trudeau, Chretien, Martin. And Mulroney. And Mo Strong and Kofi Annan. And Saddam Hussein. AND Bob Rae.

  16. Mary T said: “Another reason not to vote liberal. Is this why Rae is running for the libs.:
Bob Rae is the son of Saul Rae who’s best pal was……Maurice Strong. Bob is Moe’s legal “god son”. Bob’s Brother (John Rae) is currently comptoller at Powercor.
Prof Iggy was Bob Rae’s old college chum and roomie. Iggy was coaxed back to Canada and the LPC by both Bob and John Rae who sweetened his campaign pot with Powercor cash washed through various front orgs/individuals. Powercor had 2 horses in the LPC leadership race but Powercor family member Chretien had Dion as a dark horse candidate…so basically all 3 front runners in the LPC leader’s race were Powercor annointed marionettes.
In this country over the past 3 decades, all top end fedral partisan manoeuvring/foreign policy making/taxing policy and corporate subsidy scams leave foot prints that lead right back to Strong-Powercor-LPC-PMO.
Only in this politically inbred socialist backwater could the media suppress the fact that a politically-connected corporate cartel has run the nation throu undue influence for over 3 decades from the offices of Powercor.
In the US, can you imagine the uproar if Haliburton had supplied the nation with 4 presidents 2 governors of New York and a govenor of California???….but we have 4 PMs all directly tied to Powercor 2 Ontario Premiers and a Quebec prenier and all the LPC leadership candidates and not a wisper of suspicion in our chicken shit mainstream media.( we have to question the connections of the shrinking media ownership pool)
The Western Standard with both Ezra Levant and Kevin Steel have written about the LPC-Powercor cabal. Mark Stein has railed about this cartel ( but only in WS and US publications…never from a Canadian broadsheet)…Dianne Francis was first to blow the whistle in the FP and she was threatened and has only ever printed one follow up some seven years later… and Judi M at Canada Free Press keeps a running tab on Moe and the Powercor LPC cartel on the Canadian internet.
Other than that…we have McLeans, the Red Star, G&M, the Asper’s hollinger chain, CTV,CBC either vehemently denying a Powercor political cartel or having a black out on the issue…In Quebec the Powercor-LPC cartel is the widest known fact that is never published ( guess who owns major shares in Quebec media?)
So we have a Quebec-based international corporate cartel providing our PMs and key political leaders to sculpture policy aimiable to the patron corporation for over 30 years…Moe is/was the cartel’s foreign investment point man….noooo this is just another “conspiracy theory” 😉

  17. So, good ole’ Uncle Moe finally came out of his hidey-hole.
Google his name with Rae, Martin, Chretien, Gore, Ted Turner… he’s up there with them all, giving out big bucks and advice, and getting favours in return.
It’s mind boggling how many have sold their soul to the devil.
This person is to be watched very closely.

  18. Strong is soon going to get his comeuppance or there is no God and no justice.
He just doesn’t have the sense to shut up and get lost. Too much at stake?
How bloody stupid and uninformed does he think the
masses are on the North American Continent?
It is a fair question to ask why Bob Rae changed
from NDP Orange to Liberal Red at this stage in his life. Could it be for Uncle Moe and friends?
We have a right to be ever vigilant. This love
affair with China could be our downfall.
Why the hell we send them money, while they are able build one of the strongest armies on the planet, and our armed forces are struggling to meet their basic needs?
    It’s madness.

  19. Uncle Mo and the crew at the top of the money pile want to control everything.
He even went on the infamous, very costly, Russian junket with the last G/G Clarkson and crew. And who do YOU trust?

  20. Lorraine said: “I believe that, for the good of Canada, Bob Rae should not be allowed anywhere near the seat of power to be used by his uncle Maurice Strong and his brother John Rae of PowerVorp. ”
When Rae was Premier of Ontario he appointed his uncle Moe to CEO of Ontario Hydro where he proceeded to sack and ravage the public utility for funding of his own investment projects in the Caribbean and China…leaving a red ink legacy for the untility that consumers are still paying down to day.
But what the hell, anyone who will go skinny dipping with Rick Mercer is an alright Guy….let the fleecing of the Knaukistani sheeple contunue in the deep trance our media has created.

  21. Just how much HOT AIR dose this swaggering idiot MARICE STRONG put out when ever his mouth is open?

  22. ET said: “The agenda of transnational progressivism is indeed insidious and terrifying.”
This is just a buzz phrase to sanitize the agenda of the international cartels who profiteer through collusive political influence and insider networking…let’s call it what it is ; global corporate feudalism…this is the economic arm of global statist socialism…both aim to obliterate the nation state, national/international borders, national and individual sovereignty and free market dynamics.
In their utopia the cartels will OWN everything…even the core of production ( people),,,they will also run everthing as a matter of course.
Moe and the crypto commie oligopolists are at the vanguard of this global economic phenomena.

  23. Thanks, ET. I was re-reading Kevin Steel’s 2005-03-14 Western Standard article, “The Scandal Spills North”, just a few hours ago, and was wondering where I might find that chart on-line. Here’s the direct link for ease of access: smalldeadanimals.com/archives/connectingchart.jpg
The entire article is available here (free registration required): http://www.westernstandard.ca/website/index.cfm?page=article&article_id=662
A number of other essays can be found by searching for maurice strong at http://www.westernstandard.ca/website/index.cfm?page=magazine.search
On 2007-02-10 I wrote here at SDA: “I am naturally skeptical of grand conspiracy theories, yet I have also become skeptical of the morals of many more of my fellow species that I once was. With that proviso, and the understanding that you, dear readers, will decide for yourself, I offer the following video, found by searching YouTube for “Maurice Strong”, and linking to the only relevant match, without further comment:”
    youtube.com/watch?v=5TiIwivBIvI
Nomdenet replied: “I watched your link. It has some interesting observations, particularly since it’s 15 (?) years old. Precisely because it is ancient, the guy should be more applauded for his diligence back then, than accused of being a bit over the top.”

  24. It strikes of pure irony that big business (Power Corp) would activly influence the UN and other governments to push a socialist (lieberal) agenda. Unless of course it is easier to separate a fool (progressive) from their money.
The who’s who flowchart of Power Corp has more inbreeding than Deliverance Arkansas. Makes the Mafia look like good fellas 😉

  25. Vitruvius 11:03 AM, your link to the YouTube Maurice Strong world-order video made 15 years ago, is so telling.
Dead at the 12:59 mark. (dead 15 mins now) Does this always happen ?? Or did Mo pull the plug ??
    Started from beginning again.

Yes this is the political/ideological arm but there is an economic arm to “transnational progressivism” as well…we see this philosophy picked up by transnational corporate cartels to further the concentration of wealth and political power ….it was what propelled the creation of the EU ( against the individual electorate wil of the individual member-states)
And it is the political impetus behind the economic feudalism proposed by elites in “progressive” economic think tanks on this side of the drink.
google “North American Union” and “NAFTA super highway” “CFR North American Union”
here we see internationalist ideals advanced in erasing borders and the sovereignty of nation states by a economic-political elite and the circumvention of the democratic process to run a political-economic international agenda.

  27. Texas Canuck said: “It strikes of pure irony that big business (Power Corp) would activly influence the UN and other governments to push a socialist (lieberal) agenda.”
Very good question…but the answer lies here:
“If one understands that socialism is NOT a share the wealth plan but a politically actuated plan to consolidate power and control a nation’s wealth, then the paradox of super rich men promoting socialism becomes no paradox at all. Instead it becomes logical, even the perfect tool for wealthy power-seeking megalomaniacs.
Communism, or more accurately centralized socialism, is not a movement of the down-trodden masses but of the economic elite. ”
    (Garry Allen)

  28. wlmr- that’s an excellent quote from Garry Allen.
Socialism/communism is ” a politically actuated plan to consolidate power and control a nation’s wealth…and this ‘centralized socialism is not a movement of the downtrodden masses but of the economic elite”.
Exactly. That’s PowerCorp and its Canadian political network – the Liberal Party – including Chretien, Martin, Trudeau – AND Mulroney AND Bob Rae. They are all part of the small economic elite that has governed Canada for a generation, linked it economically and politically to the most repressive regimes around the world (Saddam Hussein, the Sudan) and used the bureaucracy of such unappointed unaccountable agencies as the UN (Strong, Kofi Annan) to carry out their work.
The irony, the tragedy of it – is that a key ‘hub’ of this transnational socialism’ was/is being run by the Canadian government. Canada, the good, the tolerant, the peacekeepers, the blah blah – at the centre of an international cartel of oligarchic thugs.
As I said, the TVO Agenda discussion was on the definition of ‘progressive’, a label that the Liberals have attached, without justification, to themselves. A smokescreen. But the political definition does not mean ‘moving forward’ but ‘moving backwards’.
Transnational or Liberal progressivism is actually regressive, moving a population back into an era before the rise of democracy, before individual freedoms of thought and speech, before representative government. Poliitical progressivism is actually a two-class socialist system where an unnacountable, unelected economic elite runs a country by setting up a mediate bureaucracy/government.
This, by the way, is also akin to Trudeau’s fondness for Plato’s Republic, which was also run by ‘philosopher-kings’ and which absolutely rejected democracy. And I maintain that our Charter of Rights, Trudeau’s legacy, has moved us OUT of democracy and into this two-class system with its privileging of the group over the individual, its privileging group descriptions (religion, sex, race, ethnicity, colour..)over individualism.
The Liberal Party has been the mediate front of PowerCorp and its activities – which has extended the network to the UN bureaucracy.
I am NOT against economic globalization, understood as economic networking. I’m strongly in favour of it, because our planet is not a simple linear system but a ‘complex adapative system’. This means that it operates as an asymmetrical network. Multiple sites will take resources from multiple other sites and yet other sites will manufacture them into products to ship to yet other sites. It’s a giant networked organism, all interlinked, interconnected – and highly adaptive and flexible. Any attempts to reduce this complexity to linear control and isolate parts from each other – is unhealthy.
That’s also why I promote economic and cultural interaction with China. China is economically capitalist; economic capitalism requires democracy, and Chinese democracy will slither in, from the ground up, rather than the top down. So, I suggest easing off the hatred of China, interact with it – and watch it change.
As for the creeping slime of transnational progressivism – like all moulds, the best strategy is exposure to the fresh air of public discussion. Expose it, expose it, expose it.

  29. I followed your link to the StopSPP site, Redux, and while I realize a single quote is not fair, I read there this: “Mel Hurtig, the founder of the Council of Canadians, and also a variety of other reliable sources including veteran CNN anchor Lou Dobbs, now reveal that senior elected representatives and advisors to the Conservative Party, are currently planning a scheme that would hand over Canada to the Bush regime by 2007.”
They sound a little over the top to me. Anyway, the proposed highway doesn’t necessarily sound like a bad idea to me per se, but I think it’s a little too off topic to go in to at length here. If you’re interested in trying to change my mind, perhaps send me a note via gmail to the vitruvius2 account. Thanks.

  30. Yes it’s sad that lefty flakes like Hurtig, Maude Barlow et al are pumping the anti-North American Union jag but I come at this from the perspective of a constitutionalist and a populist democrat…it is a dangerous unilateral surrender of individual, provincial and national sovereignty.
It is unfortunate that the moonbat left is on it first but their perspective is different…I don’t think thay care about amalgamation with a political/cultural cess pool like Mexico, they are just alarmed at union with the “evil ” US ampore and losing their utopian welfare state.
I wish this was a fight where we could say the enemy of ny enemy is a friend but not so…the Hurtigs and Barlows of the left want to preserve a socialist subsidy state…I want to preserve Canadian and provincial sovereignty and other than seeing NAU and SPP as a threat to that I have totally differnt reasons.
I have fillowed Mel’s corpirate welfare voyage for 20 years there isn’t much he does get past me…it’s just a shame that a caise that the Libertarians, constitutionalists, populists and laissez fair capitalists in the conservative spectrum should be taking up has flakes like Hurtig crushing the credibility of the danger NAU presents.
Do some Googling on NAU/CFR and educate yourself….otherwise North America will finf itself in Europe’s predicament….erased borders, homoginized culture, central corporate government and a blended currency.
The other links show that there is a strong bipartisan opposition to this in the US and primarily libertaian/constitutionalist camps are most alarmed.
Google “texas trans corridor” or “Jerome R. Corsi
” and see the crap they are pulling to ram this trans nation trade corridore through Texas on public funding then they will habd it over to private ownership.
    Then google “nafta super highway”
    http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=15497
look around… read a bit and decide if the North American union is a good deal for the common joe or our democracies.

  31. Every time we Ontarians pay our outrageously high
power bills we think of the asshole who caused the
mess in that commodity, the one and only Moe Strong.
We’re paying for what we use plus the extra fees to get it out of the red.
Strong should stay in his favorite China and choke off in the SMOG.
