jeez people, if ya dont wanna wear the thing because its ‘bulky’, then when are the rich yacht class going to come up with some sort of form fitting floatation device. if you then do choose to wear it and get swept overboard by a ‘rogue’ wave at least they find the body when it washes up on shore.
funny those ‘rogue’ waves. seems to be a lot of them.

hmmph.
‘rogue’ = darwin award
‘a duty to integrate into mainstream society’? And what would that be? We have had our culture removed from the education system–we have ‘more equal’ special interest groups–what is ‘mainstream society? There is nothing left to integrate into–we are nothing and stand for nothing. Which ‘nation’ in Canada is ‘mainstream’. I imagine Britain is similar–

Hope the first appointment is in his riding. There are 103 male wannabe candidates, how do they feel. And, most important, do we need 103 Hedy Frys and BSs, and will 100% of women vote for them. I think not. How many diabled does he plan to appoint. If none, there is a discrimination case waiting to happen. How many of these women will have to be lesbian, another case of discrimination. Dion just keeps on giving to Harper. If he is successful, and the majority of them are defeated, what will he do then. I imagine most of the women will be appointed in the west where he knows they will lose. What percentage of votes did that female candidate get.
Next question, are there that many stupid women to run for the liberals as sacrificial lambs. Dictator in action.
Bollacks I suggest you read articles before posting. This was not a yatch, and she was working. Typical lib/ndp, jumping to conclusions.
There’s a LPC promoting website — climateliberal.ca, that, astonishingly, has the coprorate logos/banners of the Star, the CBC, and CTV flying in the text, in each case above snippets of climate related Lib-flattery extracted from each respective organization.
Climateliberal’s mission is “To build a national political organizations of progressive Canadians and Liberals which integrates ideas, technology and financial resources in order to establish the climate crisis as the number one priority of the Liberal party of Canada.”
While they go out of their way to make abundantly clear that they have no official standing with the official Liberal Party, they boast indiscretely of their standing in the far more influential — in terms of elections — unofficial party, i.e. LPC-promoting journalists and news organizations: At the recent Liberal convention, their message “was spread through dozens of media hits, reaching an audience of millions. Our core thrust was picked up by dozens of journalists and has become the policy narrative of the conventions.”
The spectre of journalists “picking up the thrust” of a partisan organization and promoting it’s ideas coast-to-coast might seem redolent of inappropriate influence and backroom dealings, to be sure, and all the trademark logos of these news organizations on said site looks even worse. But remember, this is the future of the world we’re talking about, and besides, try to find even one hint of partisan bias in this Star piece, filed by the Star’s Ottawa Bureau Chief Susan Delacourt, under the sub heading “The Liberals are betting this combination can beat the deep blue conservatism of Stephen Harper”:
“Stephane Dion can be described as a mix of Liberal red and environmental green — seasonally appropriate hues, but also perhaps the next big political fashion combination for 2007…”
Climateliberal co-founder and Liberal Party strategist John Duffy himself has this to say: “For Liberals, embracing the climate crisis is in the global and national interest — and the partisan interest as well. Party stragegist John Duffy welcomes the paramount issue of the early 21st century into the Liberal tradition — and vice versa.”
Never mind the third person bit, the important part is that John Duffy welcomes, on behalf of the Liberals, the climate crisis into the Liberal tradition, and he welcomes, on behalf of the climate crisis, the the partisan interests of the Liberal party into the climate crisis.
Well, why not just open the sluices and go to
http://www.climateliberal.ca/cl/
and “read what Globe and Mail national affairs columnist John Ibbitson says about climateliberal thinking.” Under a CBC logo you’ll find that CBC radio “aired a discussion of web politics and climateliberal.ca as “part of your local CBC Radio morning show.” (To find the times these shows aired, simply scroll down to the second CBC logo in the text on the main page of climateliberal.ca, or, alternately, you can just count five logos bellow the Star’s banner, or four below the CTV Canada AM logo, or look just under the second Globe and Mail Logo).
Climateliberal.ca: we’re more than just some focus group creation — we’re your children’s future. No, really.
And what will this site do in Feb 2007 when the UN report comes out stating that all the info re climate change and mans effect on it have been overrated by 25%. Gaza gunmen kill Abbas loyalist’s kids
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) – Palestinian gunmen killed three young children of a senior Palestinian intelligence officer Monday, pumping dozens of bullets into their car as it passed through a street crowded with schoolchildren – an unprecedented attack that could ignite widespread factional fighting.
From Blair’s speech:
…values based on a warped distortion of the faith of Islam…
… Of course the extremists that threaten violence are not true Muslims in the sense of being true to the proper teaching of Islam…
Blair is either lying or hasn’t the slightest clue about Islam. There is no distortion – The jihadists are exhorted by the Koran and the Haddiths to kill infidels. It’s been going on for 14 centuries.
But when it comes to our essential values – belief in democracy, the rule of law, tolerance, equal treatment for all, respect for this country and its shared heritage – then that is where we come together, it is what we hold in common; it is what gives us the right to call ourselves British. At that point no distinctive culture or religion supercedes our duty to be part of an integrated United Kingdom.
Note to Tony: the only rule of law of interest to Muslims is that passed from Allah to Mohamed. Human laws are irrelevant.
Forgive me for mentioning, in this connection, and in a spirit of humour, the woman whom I saw on TV in Turkey, protesting about the Pope’s recent visit, whose poster read: “Jesus was a prophet but not the Son of God”, elevating the placard to an altogether higher plane of theology. Most Christians are hugely surprised to be told that the Koran reveres Jesus as a prophet.
And forgive me, Tony, for pointing out that this little factoid. Muslims believe that “there is no god but god,” and as such they reject Jesus as the son of god and consider Christianity polytheism. That’s why they’re out to exterminate it. Rather than being a bit of humour, this is illustrative of the intolerance of Islam.
I recall at the special service in Parliament in the year 2000 to mark the millennium, all three religions plus those of the Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, and Zoroastrian faiths and others, coming together, giving their readings and marvelling at how similar were the sentiments and how close the values underpinning them.
Oh come on Tony. Think Sesame Street: one of these things is not like the other, and no amount of eye wash is going to change that.
Our tolerance is part of what makes Britain, Britain.
I thought this type of mush was only used in Canada.
Darn…guess I am a little late with this..

To Al Gore & associated climate change nuts, please read the following from your beloved UN:
Article in the Telegraph, stating that man’s impact on the environment has been ‘downgraded’. A UN report has found that our species has not had as large effect on climate change as was previously thought. The average temperature is still due to rise almost 5 degrees C in the next 100 years, bringing drastic changes in weather patterns. From the article: “The panel, however, has lowered predictions of how much sea levels will rise in comparison with its last report in 2001. Climate change skeptics are expected to seize on the revised figures as evidence that action to combat global warming is less urgent. Scientists insist that the lower estimates for sea levels and the human impact on global warming are simply a refinement due to better data on how climate works rather than a reduction in the risk posed by global warming.”
Apparantly the CUSA has already been sued (and settled) for defamation. One of them (the preseident?) apparantly stated in a tv news interview that Stephanie Grey is anti-semitic . She is the spunky gal who made the presentation to the students that set off the CUSA. Her presentation, far from being intimidating, gave the facts in graphic detail, letting women REALLY know what their options are. Not censoring, enlightening. IMHO, CUSA defames the whole pro-life movement by lying about their intent. Not only do they care about the women finding the best option, but care for them after they have had abortions. From Sisu we learn that Western civilization has finally gotten rid of the “W” word.
“Britain stops talk of ‘war on terror,'” headlines a Guardian article, apparently pleased as punch that the Foreign Office can no longer stomach the calling of a spade a spade:
Many senior British politicians and counter-terrorism specialists have always been uneasy with the term ‘the war on terror’, coined by Bushitler the White House in the week following the 9/11 attacks, arguing that the term risked inflaming hot-headed Islamofascists opinions worldwide. Other critics said that it was too ‘military’ and did not adequately describe the nature of the diverse efforts made to counter the new threat.

Taxes are good for a nation’s health and well-being—study
“By cutting taxes the Conservative government is taking Canada in the wrong direction,” says Brooks. “It wants to make Canada more like the United States, yet our findings show that Americans bear severe social costs for living in one of the lowest taxed countries in the world.”
The U.S. falls near the bottom of the 21 industrialized countries in a strikingly large number of social indicators. It also ranks as the most dysfunctional country by a considerable margin.
“The tax cut lobby has it backwards,” says Hwong. “Not only do government social programs create a healthier society, they also create the conditions for a vibrant—and competitive—economy.”

Israeli military intel warns of 2-front war in 2007
World Tribune ^ | Monday, December 11, 2006
TEL AVIV — Israel’s military is bracing for a possible two-front war in the summer of 2007. Officials said the General Staff has received intelligence assessments that Israel could be attacked from both Lebanon and Syria in the north as well as the Palestinian Authority in the south during the summer of 2007. They said the military concluded that Hizbullah and the PA would coordinate missile strikes against Israel. “The last war [against Hizbullah in July 2006] caught both Hizbullah and the Palestinians by surprise,” an official said. “Now both sides are in full coordination and when war erupts the…

U.S. soldiers cope with decision to flee Support network set up in Canada for war ‘resisters’
TORONTO — He was on his way to his hometown of Buffalo, N.Y., he’d told his military higher-ups, to see if the Bills’ unproven quarterback, J.P. Losman, was “the real deal.”
But on that long bus ride from Clarksville, Tenn., last year, the soldier vomited twice, maybe three times — and it wasn’t football that had him so unnerved.
As he rolled north, Army Sgt. Patrick Hart was veering off a road he’d been on for nearly 10 years. Every mile he traveled led away from the Army.
Away from his wife Jill, who worked in the commander’s office at his Fort Campbell, Ky., base, and away from their young son. Away from the country he had sworn to defend.
“I knew I was at a turning point,” the 33-year-old Hart said of the wrenching ride toward the border, where he would leave his country behind.
From Buffalo, Hart would cross into Canada. His parents, who were in on his secret, drove him across the Peace Bridge and delivered him to a network of Canadian supporters who welcome disillusioned U.S. soldiers with open arms, a place to stay and legal advice. …-

Inhofe Distorts New UN Report On Climate Change: ‘We Are All Skeptics Now’
InhofeOn Sunday, the London Telegraph previewed a new report from the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which is viewed as an authoritative source of global warming science.
According to the Telegraph, the report concludes “there can be little doubt that humans are responsible for warming the planet.” Moreover, carbon dioxide emissions are accelerating and the IPCC predicts “that temperatures will rise by up to 4.5 C during the next 100 years, bringing more frequent heat waves and storms.”
The IPCC also “lowered predictions of how much sea levels will rise in comparison with its last report in 2001.” The new estimate was “a refinement due to better data on how climate works rather than a reduction in the risk posed by global warming.”
Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), outgoing chairman of the Environment & Public Works Committee, said the report is evidence that global warming was all hype:
We are all skeptics now. It appears that the UN is now acknowledging what an increasing number of scientists who study the climate have come to realize: Predictions of manmade catastrophic global warming are simply unsustainable.
Inhofe’s core claim is that global warming is “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people” and humans are not responsible for climate change. The new IPCC report does not support Inhofe’s position, it undermines it.
It’s ironic that Inhofe is now citing the IPCC as an authority. In speech on the Senate floor in 2003, Inhofe claimed that “the IPCC process resembled a Soviet-style trial, in which the facts are predetermined, and ideological purity trumps technical and scientific rigor. …-

The only thing anyone from the right wing achieves attacking global warming is that they end up with their foot in their mouth.
This is one issue that could have been bipartisan, could have had everyone working together. But the right had to make it partisan. Are they that stupid, or extremely desperate?
If they are unsure about global warming being real, then why not say something like ‘we cannot be certain, but why risk being wrong’ and support measures to reduce CO2 emmissions? It took much less evidence for them to want to go into Iraq.

Well think about this: The Rightwing goes on, and on, and on, and on about Islamic terrorism being a massive threat right?
And if you look at the countries with the bulk of the world’s oil, they seem to mostly be Islamic states that sponsor terrorism right?

It appears that about 500 new species have been discovered in the past year in the oceans. Looking at pics of said things, Darwin is making them uglier. One new shrimp lives in 80 degree water and moves into freezing water. So, all those people trying to save species, that believe in evolution, give it up. Old die, new are found. And, if you swallow a mouthful of ocean water, you will have 800 new bacteria in your mouth.

Christmas trees back up in Seattle Airport, by workers.

Airline workers put Christmas trees on ticketing counters Monday at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, shortly after trees in public spaces were removed because of a rabbi’s complaint that holiday decor did not include a menorah. Customer service agents with Frontier Airlines pooled their money Monday morning to buy four 30-centimetre-high Christmas trees, which they placed on the airline’s ticketing counter. Atop a Delta counter, workers put up a tree about a metre tall.

The Blind Ambiguity of Liberals
What’s wrong with liberals? We all (well, most of us) have liberal friends, they seem okay most of the time, right? In fact, with the exception of the dope smoking, tattered clothed protester types in dire need of a good barber, I probably couldn’t pick one out of a crowd. I guess you could say that liberals look pretty indistinct most of the time, lots of self-righteous bay street boys show they “care for the little guy too” by supporting the Libs. Most college kids who aren’t fans of Jack “The Hack” Layton identify themselves as Liberals. It would then be pretty easy to say that Liberals seem to be the status quo of Canada. The main reasons given for support of the Liberals seem reminiscent of “anybody but bush” campaigns in the US, or another neat excuse; “Well I’m liberal because they haven’t run the country in the ground over the past few decades so why switch?” and we’re the ones who are afraid of change? But the penultimate reason for liberals becoming Liberals; “I just love Pierre Trudeau, he’s done so many great things for Canada, and you can tell the party cares about everyone”. The point to be made here is not only that most Liberals don’t know what they are supporting in the first place, because their party hasn’t taken a definite or daring stand on most issues.
This is not to say that all Liberals are moronic drones, gobbling up everything they can get their mitts on via the great CBC. …-
