Reminds me of my delightful friends over at Revenue Canada who had the over arching foresight to suggest that:

Of course for a Type 1 – Insulin Dependent Diabetes patient like my son, withholding his 6 – 8 needles per day and related activities would cause him to simply expire.
Of course it is worth noting, that the onus is on the taxpayer to disprove the above statement. Thus we have the ridiculous result that I have been asked by Revenue Canada to kill my son for the purposes of the disability amount!
In short, Rev Can had created a civil liability to commit a criminal offence!?! Absolutely brilliant. To date I have yet to receive any apology for their monumental piece of stupidity.

Well let’s see now. To start with, most of the world’s 1.3 billion Muslims live under some form of ‘socialism’, whether characterized by the ‘public works’ of Hamas/Hez’bollah, or Saudi Arabia.
Another 1.3 billion live under the ‘socialism’ of the Chinese Communist Regime. And lest we forget, India has 1.095 billion under a long-term socialist government,too. Plus 143 million under Russian socialism.
I could go on, but you get the point. See any countries there that you’d like to live in? If 2/3 of the planet lived under socialist tyranny it wouldn’t make it any more human or worthy or right than a few. Socialism has never worked, nor will it ever – because it runs counter to human nature.

The point that I think Kate was making is that she views socialism as a disability or disease…and then linking the story about how disgusting it is that some parents purposefully select defective genes for their children to how disgusting it would be if socialist genes existed and the expected response from socialist parents to select said defective socialist genes for their children.

Yes, some “righties” denounce and ridicule the “lefties” (just as much as the “lefties” denounce and ridicule the “righties”) but regardless, their input is openly received and fully displayed for all to see.

Lawn care and materials (ie. fertilizer for lawn not bombs) are deductible under “maintenance”. How do you attract and keep tenants if the place looks like an overgrown dump? Its related to keeping and enhancing your rental income.

And, I have never met a family that gave their teenager the keys to the car, a pair of skies, enrolled them in sports etc that did these things with the instructions to go out, have an accident, and come back disabled. Seems all that could be about to change. Stupid stupid stupid.
As I said back at the begining, a good horse whipping for each and every professional and their employees who participate in doing something like this would no doubt put an end to it almost immediately. Willfully creating a disabled child? Monsterous!
I mean, why not avoid all the touble and the expense? Just hit the kid with a bat! A little brain damage, maybe a couple of smashed growth plates in the major limb bones and you have yourself a dandy new deaf Small Person to carry on the family tradition.

Actually, I would argue that it does indeed fall back on socialist ideals.
It used to be that mentally retarded people were automatically sterilized. We don’t do that anymore because it apparently infringes on their “rights.” This really cheeses me off in itself. As I have said before, it is wrong to grant rights without balancing them with responsibilities. A mentally handicapped person doesn’t have the “mental capacity” to respect the rights of others – so, we don’t hold them responsible when they commit crimes. So, where do these “rights” magically come from? The socialists…
True, mentally handicapped people have historically had no rights…but they also never had (and still don’t) any responsibilities (i.e. can’t enter into any kind of contract where they have obligations to counter-balance their entitlements). The reason of course is because they can be taken advantage of too easily by mentally competent people.
If I understand it correctly, people afflicted with Down’s Syndrome can’t generally reproduce (I think that there is one recorded case in all history of a Down’s Syndrome man fathering a child). And, it is not guaranteed that someone with a mental disability will have a child with that same disability.
But, along comes in-vitro fertilization and genetic engineering. Now, all mentally handicapped people could possibly have children…and they could make it so that the child has the same disorder. These children (while they might satisfy the underdeveloped vanity of these would-be parents) will 100% for certain be a net cost to society since we, the rest of the citizenry will have to pay the cost of raising and protecting these metally-disabled children of mentally-disabled parents.
Advocating for the “right” to do this is indeed socialist in nature as it decidedly fosters dependence – a dependence that exists by law.

More important, as a physician who helps women dealing with complex fetal diseases, I’ve learned to respect a family’s judgment. Many parents share a touching faith that having children similar to them will strengthen family and social bonds.
Of course, part of me wonders whether speaking the same language or being the same height guarantees closer families. But it’s not for me to say. In the end, our energy is better spent advocating for a society where those factors won’t matter.
