No eastern media bias here;

Take note of the appearance of scare quotes in the headline. I checked this purported news item looking for the third-party source – as it turns out, the only people the headline “quotes” are Globe writers Dawn Walton and Katherine Harding;
Alberta’s role as the bad boy of Confederation will be decided next Saturday [….]
Some of the bigotry in the reader responses is a little more overt.
h/t Cal, in the comments.

Lucky us badboys can read , the last number is the important one for those that can’t.

The Bad boy buzz phrase is how the degenerate subsudy-addicted Eastern establishment taggs any productive province who has issues sharing their hard earned wealth with governments with sloppy socialist book keeping which over spend to buy votes because they rely on budget top ups from provinces who are well managed and do not run deficit budgets as per their provincial laws.
So, if by this criteria Alberta is the “bad boy” province then Ontario and Quebec are the “po’ boy” provinces…..get off the welfare waggon ya free loading t-wads and work a little harder.

I love it when some big head tells Albertans how to vote, it just pisses them off.
Go Ted!
Hey Alberta; eastern socialist media elites are calling you names, because you won’t kneel to THEIR wealth redistribution schemes.
It’s not your money, you’re “bad” for thinking so.
“Badboy” as in “COPS”, is who THEY say you are.
Criminal!
We all know what happens to “bad boys” on Cops.
So what are Albertan’s to do “when THEY come for you”?
Bad Boys, Bad Boys, what you gonna do, what you gonna do when THEY come for you.
Bad Boys bad boys. what you gonna do?
Morty should make this his campaign song, and blast it!
Only one candidates 2nd choice will be counted, the one who comes in last. That will be Ed Stelmach because no matter who the losers throw their support to, that does not guarantee their supporters will vote for that person. As for not caring who wins if Morton doesn’t, I’m not worried because the next election it will Alliance and Liberals. How much did it cost McPherson for the 700+ votes he got. What a waste of money. Same for the others. Many voters are upset that Dinning donated money to Paul Martin, to me that proves he is a liberal in PC clothing, same as Ralph. Ralph hid it for a few years but in the end his true colours came out, and we kicked him out. If Morton is no 3 next Sat, most if not all his voters will not have a second choice, then what happens.
Far be it for anyone to actually say or infer anything negative about another region of Canada. I’m sure none of you guys would ever countenance such a thing.
Hey Alberta; Jose says you’re “bad boys”.
What you gonna do?
I don’t blame Jose for being upset. It must be very hard for him and other bed wetters to accept the fact that they rely on Alberta to pay for their diaper changers and meals. The fact that we continue to work so hard and keep feeding the rest of Canada only proves what kind and generous people we are here in Alberta. And what do we get in return for our benevolence?? Hatred from the very people we support.
If only everyone in Canada were as caring and supportive as the average Albertan this truly would be a Utopian country.
I would just like to say to all the people that live off of us…you’re welcome.
I wasn’t aware that Torontonians recieved financial support from the rest of Canada.
“Hatred from the very people we support.”
Tell me about it.
No, some of us in Toronto aren’t socialists. We work for a living and stand against the wealth reallocation schemes supported by Jose and his comrades.
TDH aka, Liberal lobbyist/consultant/grant writer: Morton is scaaaaary.
…-
Remember, it was Morton and Harper that co-authored the famous 2001 “firewall letter,” which advocated for a decrease in Ottawa’s influence over Alberta. So, if Harper really is using this as an opening salvo to rebalance the federation, then he has just handed Morton a huge assist towards the second ballot next weekend.
Can you imagine Harper dealing with the Americans with his good buddy Morton at the helm of Canada’s equivalent of the Saudi Arabia oil reserves? Scary thought.
Why yes..I can imagine Harper dealing with the Americans with his good buddy Morton at the helm. And let me assure you, that scenario, no matter how you slice it, bodes exceedingly well for Alberta. So hopefully all Albertans will take note of Maz2’s comment and get out next week to make sure the Prime Ministers’ good friend Ted Morton gets elected. Not only will we have unlimited financial clout from our vast oil wealth, huge political clout from our premiers friendly association with the Prime Minister, but we will have enormous international clout by being an energy rich province that is seen as being an ally of the USA. I can hardly imagine a better scenario for Alberta.
When Morton reduces our provincial taxes even further people from across Canada will flock to our province for the huge tax benefits of being an Albertan, our beautiful scenery, and our hard work ethic and entrepeneurial spirit.
Alberta is the fourth most ethnically diverse province in Canada with 11 percent of our population being a visible minority for those that would call us bigots.
Incidentally, does anyone know of any constitutional vehicles by which one province can buy parts of another province?? I understand that there is some pretty good hunting and fishing in Northern Ontario.
YeeeHaw!
I’m a 23 year old male who has a lot of future to look forward to. I can only hope it will be a future that Ted Morton helped to create. The oppotunity that Albertans have right now is soooo precious. We need to act on it and elect Ted now. I’m convincing all my family members who didn’t vote on the first ballot to make sure they vote in the second. Our very future depends on the outcome of this.
Yes, you sound very much like a 23 year old male.
And you sound like a 50 yr old dope smoking hippie who STILL doesn’t get it.
Lorne Gunter has some advice for Albertans today in the National Post. He predicted that (anybody but) Jim Dinning would try scaring off potential Morton voters this week, by hanging him with the tag – Premier Morton. Gunter said the response should be to hang Dinning with a Premier Paul Martin name tag.
After going through that list of commentors at the GM….It seems pretty clear that Morton scares the crap out of the Weenies.
Hey there all you weenies NOT from Alberta…..too bad!
Vote for Morton or vote for paul martin lite…..
Please remember that dinning is a scumbag liberano that actually sent paul martin MONEY… the question is was it his own money or taxpayers?
Alberta needs Ted morton to win.
Ed Stelmack seems like an upright guy from the outset but when I look at what he brings to the table for ideas and policy be brings nothing. stands for nothing. Explains why he makes no enemies. These are not qualities for a leader of Alberta. Even Jim stands for something, though the wrong thing!! He’s liberal through and through
