  1. incredible commentary, shows the professionalism of the troops at the pointy end of our stick.
    Way to go guys. Rock ’em sock ’em.
    Also . . . translation services “chimos” = Combat Engineers”

  2. “Where do you want your well?”
    Priceless.
    At the next Troops in Contact between fire is heard:
    “How deep do want your well?”
    and:
    “Let me introduce you, to the bottom of the well.”

  4. Nice to see our guys and gals getting the job done. BTW, according to Mc-lala-land’s latest blog vomit is part of Taliban Jack’s very latest foray into this issue of getting things done –
    ====================
    “Focus Canada’s role in Afghanistan on humanitarian aid, reconstruction and development, with appropriate security measures.”
    ====================
    Oh REALLY Taliban Jack? And what would the leftwing moonbat’s definition of security be, pray tell? Wagging a finger? Asking them pretty as pie to stop? Offering them a flower? Singing kumbaya? Give me a break you clueless windbag, you have NO inkling what security entails and why it has to be given primary consideration for now.
    Obviously Taliban Jack doesn’t get it. We CANNOT have any reconstruction efforts (eg – wells) being accomplished if the terrorists are killing people trying to build infrastructure and destroying what they are trying to build.
    Another Taliban Jack gem –
    ======================
    “I firmly believe that we are a nation of facilitators not occupiers”.
    ======================
    Hey dumbass, we NEVER were occupiers, we were invited to be there, and our current role has been approved of by the Afghani President, and he has thanked us wholeheartedly for doing just what we are doing.
    More pearls of wisdom from Taliban Jack –
    =====================
    I invite you to sign our on-line petition, support our troops. Bring ‘em home…..”
    =====================
    See Taliban Jack, our troops don’t want to leave until the job is done. They want our support while they are doing just that; not the cowardly, blowhard words of a mealy mouthed socialist that is railing against a Parliament that voted to extend the exact way the mission is until 2009.
    Kate, I apologize for my long rant. Reading Jack Layton’s words and seeing his face makes me want to vomit. Thank you for the outlet; it helps. 🙂

  5. Oh, and one more thing –
    Enduring Peace: The NDP’s Goal for the Canadian Mission in Afghanistan.The title of an email Mc-lala-land has received from Taliban Jack, according to his latest blog entry.
    and –
    Jack Layton, leader of the NDP has called for the withdrawal of Canadian Forces from this mission. The NDP petition, http://www.ndp.ca/page/4121
    So this is how we achieve “enduring peace”, according to Taliban Jack, by tucking our tails between our legs and running.
    Yeah, “enduring peace” alright. “Peace in our time” is more like it.

  6. I see macleans.ca is running an online poll about extending Canada’s terrorism laws………..so far 58% say no………hmmmm…does not tell you how many have voted though,liberal polling I guess
    LMAO

  7. Anyone know how many names are on the thing..didn’t want to click on,as thot it might register a vote.I hear the warm-up Peace Rally’s didn’t turn out too well!Take that Jack-Ass!!

  8. furthermore: “how many wells do you want?”
    gawd I love the vernacular these fellows come up with. such efficient usage of the language.
    the bottom line in this situation is there are some very rude people roaming around afghanistan right now who dont give a cow plop about the liberty, security and living conditions of the indigenous population. those peaceful citizens NEED OUT IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE and that is why our troops are there. NO OTHER REASON mr jack taliban.
    and I must say they appear to be learning the appropriate methods and terrain quickly and succeeding immensely.
    this is holland 1945 all over again.

  9. SDA readers – I too received a ‘letter’ from Jack Layton and my response to him is shown below. You can be sure I’ll share it will all MP’s.
    Good grief Mr. Layton. I expected better of you than such fatuous, high minded but empty rhetoric. Let me address you within the context of your letter.
    ————————————————-
    FROM Jack Layton:
    “I am writing further to your previous correspondence on Canada’s mission in Afghanistan. Many Canadians have written to me during the last few months in support for the NDP’s position on Afghanistan.”
    You neglect to mention how many people wrote to object or castigate you for your position. Would I be wrong in describing them as frequent and numerous?
    ———————————–
    “This support is greatly appreciated. I firmly believe that we are a nation of facilitators not occupiers,…”
    Oh please. Afghanistan is not a simple difference of opinion that can be resolved by a ‘facilitator’. I haven’t yet heard you volunteer to take your spiral bound notebook into a face to face meeting with hardened and callous Taliban warlords. Or is categorizing them as ‘hardened and callous’ too harsh, too confrontational, too un-faciliator like?
    ——————————————–
    “we are a people committed to the ideals of building bridges not burning them….”
    Yeah, we’re actually pretty good at building bridges, but the Taliban are effective at burning them. Along with schools, hospitals, theatres and places where others may choose to worship.
    ———————————–
    “and we must not allow that legacy of good work to falter.”
    You’re a fine one to use the word falter. You want the men and women who actually do the heavy lifting, the difficult, the dangerous, to give up. Pack it in. Resign themselves, if not to defeat, to at least admitting that victory over tyranny is impossible. Falter, in other words.
    ———————————————-
    “A good opposition not only opposes, but proposes. So in that spirit, I want you to know about the NDP’s made-in-Canada plan for Afghanistan. An NDP-led federal government would:”
    – “Give notice that Canada will withdraw from the search-and-kill combat mission in Kandahar.”
    One of the most powerful statements I’ve ever known is, ‘if it is to be, it’s up to me’. If not Canada, then whom? Shall we leave the dangerous but necessary work to NATO partners such as Bulgaria or Portugal? Canada has a fine tradition of soldiering and facing the hard challenges, not ‘facilitating’ meetings.
    ——————————————–
    – “Work with NATO partners, the Afghan government, and other affected parties to find a political solution through capacity building and a comprehensive peace process.”
    One cannot build capacity as others are tearing it down and shooting from behind the debris. And a peace process can neither begin nor succeed with people whose sworn mission is to force we dhimmis to submit to a religious/political and social caliphate. Despite direct warnings from their religious/political leaders, you appear to think they’re not really serious about this.
    —————————————–
    – “Focus Canada’s role in Afghanistan on humanitarian aid, reconstruction and development, with appropriate security measures.”
    What are ‘appropriate security measures’? More meetings? More faciliatators?
    ——————————————–
    “In contrast to our plan, Prime Minister Stephen Harper has silenced Canada’s independent voice on foreign policy.”
    Please. This is the first time in many decades that Canada has had a strong and independent voice on foreign policy. Where was your voice supporting Stephen Harper as he took the moral high ground, convincing the countries represented at the recent Francophonie Summit to recognize the losses of both Lebanon and Israel? That was the sound of an independent voice.
    ——————————————-
    “Following the previous Liberal government’s path, today’s Conservatives have turned their backs on our respected, proven peace-building and peace-keeping traditions by committing Canadian troops to the aggressive search-and-kill combat mission in southern Afghanistan which is fuelling the escalation of violence.”
    There is no cause and effect of our combat participation. Shia’s are killing Sunni’s in greater numbers than either are killing Western forces. They show no mercy to women or children and are not brought to task for the ‘collateral damage’ every one of their bombs and IED’s causes to their own people.
    ——————————————-
    “From the emails and letters I receive it is clear that everyday Canadians know that:”
    I’m an ‘everyday Canadian’ who e-mailed you, Mr. Layton. Please don’t make a global statement suggesting that all you are hearing from Canadian’s is ‘bring home our boys’. It simply isn’t true.
    ————————————————
    – “This Bush-style combat mission will not create the conditions for long-term security.”
    Sure,Mr. Layton. Let’s conveniently forget that fundamentalist Islam in today’s context began in 1928 with the formation of the Muslim Brotherhood. I don’t think George had much to do with that. The Arab Muslim determination to extinguish the Jews did not begin in 1948 with the creation of Israel, either. It began much earlier and clearly remains today. Even a ‘two state solution’ will not resolve the religiously based determination to eliminate the Jews. Muslim extremists murdered Anwar Sadat in 1981, BECAUSE he was prepared to recognize Israel in return for a Palestinian state.
    ————————————–
    – “The mission is ill-defined, unbalanced, and without a clear exit strategy.”
    Patently untrue. The mission is to provide sufficient aid and reconstruction to enable a democratic nation-state to function, with a stable legislature, military, police, judicial, educational and social system. By ‘clear exit strategy’ you obviously mean ‘timetable’. One cannot give a timetable, anymore than one would have told Hitler that he had only to hang on and cause chaos until the due date arrives.
    ———————————————-
    -“For every $1 in humanitarian aid and reconstruction, the Conservative government is spending $9 on military combat in Afghanistan.”
    Without the investment in combat ready forces, reconstruction is impossible and pointless. What part of this don’t you understand?
    ———————————
    “The fact of the matter is …”
    Whenever I hear you say “the fact of the matter is”, I automatically substitute it with “my opinion of the matter is” or “my belief is”, as either is equally valid. Generally speaking people believe to be true, what they wish to be true.
    ——————————–
    “that the discussion at hand should be about if this mission is the right role for Canada and – not – which Party supports our troops. If you have not done so already, I invite you to sign our on-line petition, Support our troops. Bring ’em home, which can be found at: http://www.ndp.ca/page/4121.”
    “Again, I appreciate hearing from you on this troubling matter. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to pass along this email.”
    You can be sure your response will be shared with all of my friends and acquaintances, Mr. Layton. The more they understand your position, the more likely they’ll dismiss it.
    —————————————
    All the best.
    Sincerely,
    Jack Layton, MP (Toronto-Danforth)
    Leader, Canada’s New Democrats

  10. I will sign Randys letter, e-mail before I would sign talibanjacks. Lets see, taliban jack wants to talk, who is going to do the talking or listening. He sure wont. Maybe he could go play his guitar for them. There is a Senator in the US who after 2 yrs experience plans to run for Pres in 08, and his suggestion for Iraq is to divide it up into 3 areas. Who will he discuss this with. Wasn’t that tried before in Europe, where FDR, Stalin and Churchill decided how europe would look after the war. No input by the people.
    If these 2 can decide how a foreign country can be divided up, can we cdns decide to carve up Canada and expel all areas that elect ndp, then start on Quebec. As for building bridges, seems they fall down in Que and get burned down in Caledonia.

  11. The cbc has said the next election could be fought on the mission to Afgan. With only about 1500 protesters turning out across Canada, he never had their votes anyway. One has to wonder what influence those 100,000+ US cowards that fled the draft have had on our political system and more to the point our educational institutions, as many of them became professors. Most settled in Vancouver and TO, so that answers my question. Now, these 60 yr old idiots are still trying to tell us what to do. Funny, we are not supposed to pay attention to Pres Bush, but taking the word of these cowards is ok. Now I know where all the anti-US crap comes from, cowardly draft dodgers who still have a guilty conscience for their acts. Great example for their kids and grandkids.

  12. Regarding the draft dodgers; had I been an American I think I would have dodged the draft too. I was at the age where I would likely have been sent to Vietnam, and I believed at that time that the way the war was being conducted that it was unwinnable, and (while I was against communism) I didn’t think the US should have gone in there in the first place.
    Likewise I thought from the beginning that the move into Iraq was a mistake (Saddam kept the mulluhs in line) and would only make the situation worse in the long run. I hoped I was wrong but it turns out I wasn’t.
    Sometimes people dodge the draft for other reasons than cowardice.
    Afganistan is a different matter. They had to go there (and we were right to do so as well). You can’t let a hit like 9-11 go unpunished.
