ISP Problems

My connection has been non-existent to extremely flakey since yesterday. Until things are resolved, use this thread for reader tips.
Sorry!
Update – I’m not certain, but it appears the problem is actually a faulty phone line (I’m on dialup). There are two lines here, but for the time being I’m forced to run the computer across my regular phone line. Because I have to keep it free for calls, I won’t have the luxury of being online most of the day. Posting frequency and comments approval is likely to reflect that.

  1. Rewrite headline : Dozens of Taliban Muslim terrorists killed by Coalition/Canadian troops; 2 Canadian troops wounded; recovering.

    CBC/MSM “Death Watch”
“Militants” used by CBC are Muslim Islamist terrorists, sub-clan Taliban.

  2. Lawyers whining about the small cells their clients are being kept in. Were they not planning to behead someone??? Geeze, maybe don’t you think that they should of thought about CONSEQUENCES before becoming a terrorist??? Hope that they are not treated with kid gloves. You want to do the crime your going to do the time! Wonder if they have a few extra SMALL cells for the native protestors in Caledonia????

  3. What the Comrades at the CBC AREN’T saying, what they couldn’t bring themselves to say, is that this is part of the huge, and so far very successful Coalition offensive to subdue the southern provinces of Afghanistan that are the last stronghold of the Taliban and Al Qaeda…and kill as many of them as possible.
From diverse news sources, one can read through the lines that this offensive is going extremely well. The CBC did mention that the Canadian troops are using artillery and armor in support-a heavy operation. What they didn’t mention is heavy US air support from fighter/bombers and helicopter gunships, as needed.
If two Canadian soldiers were wounded in fighting today, I’d confidently predict that 50-100 Taliban or more were killed.
To the right-thinking civilized Western world, that’s good news. To the CBC et. al., it’s not. That in itself is also very important news: why so many of the West’s MSM are defacto rooting for the enemies of Western Civilization to win.

Address by the Prime Minister to the Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce
    June 10, 2006
    Toronto, Ontario
    Excerpt:
In the last week, much press attention has focused on those who would use terror and violence against a diverse and democratic nation such as ours.
Let us never forget that such people today – as in the past – may make use the symbols of culture and faith, but they speak for neither. They represent nothing but hatred.
Earlier in our history, Fenians threatened Canada in the name of Irish nationalism.
But their only real contribution was the assassination of a leading father of confederation, Darcy McGee.
We can only guess what motivated those who bombed Air India Flight 182 in 1985, but we know that they succeeded in killing 329 of our fellow human beings.
Our Government is proud to have finally established a full public inquiry into these murders.
Under retired Supreme Court Justice John Major it will thoroughly review all of the facts and ensure some measure of closure for those families.
This was the worst terrorist act in our history, and our Government – working with every person of goodwill of every cultural and religious community in this country – will do all that we can to ensure that such acts cannot happen ever again. …-

  6. Two Comments:
    1) “Lawyers whining about the small cells their clients are being kept in. Were they not planning to behead someone???” I wonder how small the cell would feel if the lawyers were tossed int there with ’em.
    2) I wonder if this isn’t the Liberanos exerting their hidden pressure on Kate’s ISP to control the free flow of intelligent thought. Now that wouldn’t surprise me one bit. Cut ’em off at the pass, so to speak.

  7. This Gelatti Lawyer who is doing most of the public whining is a well known giant leftie who is along the lines of Michael Moore in his regard for our fabulous free democracy. He hates it!
This is a case of Jihadists being represented by a well-wisher.

  8. What size is a cell that a rapist is in, or a murderer. I am fed up with the media and lawyers trying to make victims of those charged. I agree with a media ban if it means the lawyers are no longer allowed to spread anymore -oh my poor client is tortured. – They still have their heads don’t they. Who will be the first one to commit suicide. On another thread in the g&m leftists are feeling pain for the parents of these terrorists. Do they feel pain for the parents of those charged in killing a family in Med. Hat. We are supposed to work with these people to understand why their kids turned bad. Simple answer, ban praying in mosques by young men as it leads them to become terrorists.

  9. P’ssed Off,
The antics of the accused and their lawyers just add further to the Canadian public’s impression of there being something very rotten with Canada’s islamic community. The silver lining is that with increased public anger, there will be continued focus on that community and (hopefully) more honest discourse on actions to be taken against islamic extremism in our country. Besides, it has to look more than a little ironic that the accused and their lawyers are so concerned about their rights but would have practically no rights if they were charged of participating in a plot to commit violence in a country ruled under Islamic law.

Beware: the new goths are coming
    Peter Almond
ONE of Britain’s most senior military strategists has warned that western civilisation faces a threat on a par with the barbarian invasions that destroyed the Roman empire.
In an apocalyptic vision of security dangers, Rear Admiral Chris Parry said future migrations would be comparable to the Goths and Vandals while north African “barbary” pirates could be attacking yachts and beaches in the Mediterranean within 10 years.
Europe, including Britain, could be undermined by large immigrant groups with little allegiance to their host countries — a “reverse colonisation” as Parry described it. These groups would stay connected to their homelands by the internet and cheap flights. The idea of assimilation was becoming redundant, he said.

  13. I was in Caledonia this morning and it appears the residents feel that something ugly is about to happen. The OPP have been denied permission to go on the reserve to execute their arrest warrants, further frustrating everybody involved.
The only visible media presence is CBC as the others have been run out of town by the natives, presumably for reporting the truth.
McGuinty has now stated thet he too is getting frustrated at the natives intransigence. McGuinty, as Ontarians know, continues to be out of touch with reality.
Wait for it. It’s going to happen, and happen it will.

Tehran, Iran, Jun. 12 – Dozens of women have been arrested as State Security Forces (SSF) clamped down on a peaceful demonstration by several thousands Iranian women in Tehran, a protestor told Iran Focus by telephone.
Security forces attacked the women who had gathered in 7 Tir Square demanding equal rights, the source said.
“Put an end to misogyny”, the women chanted. There were also chants of “freedom, freedom”, “we are human beings but have no rights”, and “we want equal rights”.

RAMALLAH, West Bank – Hundreds Palestinian security forces loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas went on a violent rampage against the Hamas-led government Monday night, riddling the parliament and Cabinet buildings with bullets to protest an attack against their comrades in the Gaza Strip by Hamas gunmen. The security men shot out the windows of the parliament before storming the two-building Cabinet complex, where they smashed furniture, destroyed computers and scattered documents. No casualties were reported. But the mob set fire to one of the Cabinet buildings, causing heavy damage as flames quickly spread. “Every time they touch one of ours..

  18. By the Way:
Sorry you’re having trouble on the line Kate, experienced it myself twice, turned out to be a physical break in the plastic coating of the outside wires, moisture got in. (Five year old home) Took almost a month each time to resolve it, thanks Bell. One way is to check for noise on the line with an instrument, sorry don’t know the actual name. Even if you computer’s stats/properties menu shows the connection is good, the signal can actually be so poor as to not be able to open your home page. Or not respond once you get it open.
I’m now on cable, works much better. Good luck and hope it’s resolved for you soon.

Do multiculturalism and political correctness threaten Canada?
Dr. Mahfooz Kanwar has no doubt they do.
“Multiculturalism takes away our complete undivided loyalties to this country,” explains Kanwar, a criminologist, and professor of sociology at Mount Royal College in Calgary.
“Multiculturalism has been bad for unity in Canada. It ghettoizes people, makes them believe, wrongly, that isolating themselves and not adapting to their new society is OK. It is not,” says Kanwar, a devout Muslim.
“And political correctness threatens us because we can’t fight something we refuse to label and understand.”
Kanwar, 65, says the amount of political correctness stemming from last weekend’s arrests of 17 radicalized Muslims in the Toronto area is “sickening” and “dangerous.”
“Everybody was tripping over themselves not to state the obvious, that these men mostly attended the same mosque,” said Kanwar, referring to the Al-Rahman Islamic Centre — a small store-front mosque in Mississauga, a suburb just west of Toronto, that twists true Islam.
Toronto police Chief Bill Blair actually boasted that “there was not one single reference made by law enforcement to Muslim or the Muslim community” at the post-arrest news conference a week ago.
“That is an absurdity. Political correctness has gone too far. Political correctness threatens our society,” said the Pakistani-born Kanwar. “It is the responsibility of the minorities to adjust to the majority, not the other way around,” added Kanwar. …-

  20. McG just called off negotiations re Caledonia.
Ontario’s premier has called off negotiations with aboriginals protesting at a development site near Hamilton, saying the group’s increasingly violent actions make it impossible to work together.
“A condition of our being at the table was that public safety would not be compromised. In fact, last Friday it was – without a doubt – compromised,” Dalton McGuinty said in the legislature.
“We are no longer prepared to continue negotiations.”
McGuinty said the province would only return to the table when the barricades at the disputed site come down and if aboriginals help with the police search for seven people in connection with recent skirmishes at the standoff in Caledonia, Ont., southwest of Hamilton.
Earlier Monday, McGuinty said the violence by the Six Nations people at the standoff has tried his patience.
“We have just about exhausted our goodwill and our patience,” McGuinty said.
Asked what he’ll do if the barricade doesn’t come down soon, McGuinty simply answered: “We’ll see.”
