From the UK Times, June 1:

Problem is, the photo has already appeared in Newsweek – 6 months before the alleged massacre in Haditha.

Remember:
“the first casualty in war is the truth”
I was going to write an e-mail to “Timeonline” to suggest that they might want to, in the interest of accurate reporting, put a note under the photo indicating it was 6-months old, but, after searching high and low on their website, I can’t find a “contact” e-mail address.
Maybe I’m getting blind in my antiquity. Anyone spot the reposnse address?
Mike
Were you reading my mind I had just stopped by there and was coming back to say somthing and there were the pictures
I notice the photo is from AP. The Times’ photo editor may have been fooled.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the AP was – accidently or dliberately – selling this picture as being from Haditha. This means that the royalty fee would be a lot more than an old photo out of the stock catalogue.
Anybody remember the Canadians that appeared on the cover of Spiegel as depicting CIA operations. That was an AP photo.
Here it is:

Oops,
Pardon my previous comment.
The Times are beneath contempt.
(checking out the Malkin link is essential!)
Intersting. Now the photo is gone. I wonder if Joe Volpe contacted them and gave them some advice?
Mike
This reminds me of a plane crash several years ago, supposedly caused by a US missile, killing hundreds. Media covered it, and showed all kinds of bodies floating in the ocean, taken within an hour of the crash. Funny most of those bodies were very bloated. Turned out the country where the crash occured had emptied morgues, etc and dropped them in the ocean, to appear victims of said crash. Same goes for photos yrs ago showing troops etc, turned out the photos were false, wrong uniforms, wrong vehicles, wrong everything.
A cut and paste media – one more nail in the MSM coffin.
THat’s the problem with using a computer to index your “morgue.” Punch in “Haditha,” get a photo of dead bodies after a massacre, print it. Whoops! Wrong massacre.
Dumb, but hardly a conspiracy.
There’s an apology from the Times posted on the Malkin site.
In case some people haven’t seen the update,
(1220pm EDT udate) it’s here:

The following is from his letter to MM.
“You’re probably not aware of my writing but I think most readers would probably describe myself as one of the most pro-American columnists currently employed by a British paper. I have repeatedly defended the Bush administration’s foreign policy; I supported the Iraq war, and continue to do so. Please be apprised that this was a genuine and very unfortunate error.”
This is the london Times. It’s not a “lefty” or anti-american paper. I lived in England and know the politics of each big London newspaper. Don’t be confused with the NY Times.
Seems someone tried another Dan Rather moment, and again has been outed by bloggers. When will the msm learn there are people out there that know and will post the truth.
Eight confined in connection with Iraqi’s death
The Associated Press, quoting the defense attorney of one of the Marines, said the prosecutors plan to file murder, kidnapping and conspiracy charges against seven Marines and a sailor.
The Marines are suspected of killing an Iraqi civilian near Hamandiya, west of Baghdad, on April 26, according to a statement released last week.
The Iraqi civilian reportedly was dragged from his home and shot.
Military clears troops in one incident; 3 investigations continue
The government of Iraq and the police don’t believe the US story and are continuing the investigation into the killings.
This is how you plant the seads of hate for future generations. All this for a lie.
The world along with Canada didn’t say a thing when the US sold Saddam more weapons after he gassed the kurds, they sold him weapons up till ’89. So why the rush to war?
Wait this can’t be a war there’s only one side.
That should confuse ya.
MSM and used photo’s…
…isn’t brainwashing fun?
Yeah, so Sam: the World and the West should have kept doing nothing about Saddam…is that what you’re saying, loser?
Seems like the idiot in this case turns out to be Michelle Malkin, who doesn’t know what she’s on about. She doesn’t know when to stop milking it.
