Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

So who is going to phone them and ask them what they do? Count me out I have a sore index finger. I pick Sentinel, he’s got a phone and an attitude.
One for every Liberal MP, I guess…

A whine of PPG reporters?
Daniel
Future Fox fodder.
Darn, this is certainly interesting.
I see evidence of Alphabetic discrimination in that there is no representation of the letters I,O,U,W,X,Y, and Z. Although it wouldn’t bother me if there was no representation of the letter V.
What is this organization, anyway? Who overlords it? Who calls the shots? Are the reporters independent or do they take orders on what to ask? Are they all really leftists or do they have to act like leftists in order to be accepted into the ranks?
As they all walked out together, I see likely conspiracy and a common agenda. Freedom and independence of the press? Show me the freedom. Show me the independence. I see none!
What’s so special about having an organization like that? Why not independent reporters who’ve been checked for security clearance, etc, etc.?
Why a formal, big-deal PPG? What’s the necessary function? (To help Libs and hurt Cons? To promote leftism and appeasement of leftist butchers, among other stupid agendas?)
Lets all take a nice, warm PP all over the PPG. Hold the McMillan Mini Schnauzers up to ’em as well and let ’em mark ’em as territory…
An exultation of larks.
Is that what’s released when PMSH and the CPC (please, God!) finally axe the CBC?
PS, Daniel: I love the whine of PPG reporters!
I bike to a low-wage job and I’m saving to put myself through school. It sickens me that the money taken from my paycheque goes to pay these people and I’m shocked that there’s more than a hundred of them in the PPG alone. I wonder how much Julie Van Dusen or George Strombolopoulous make per year from us? Isn’t Sheila Fraser going to have the power to audit the CBC soon… I’ll be writing Minister Oda requesting such an audit as soon as the accountability bill gets passed.
Hopefully if and when Harper gets majority, these people will be knocking on the Star’s and rabble.ca’s doors looking for employment.
Well, that doesn’t strike me as an altogether excessive number of people to cover Ottawa gov stuff from a nation wide network
Mind you I’d be expecting a lot more actual news and stories in some depth for that number of people, you know, actual analysis of bills, work on the post implementation cost and effect of legislation – including stats, actual investigation of the bureaucracy’s little fiddles…
And one wonders if this covers the radio and TV tech guys and gals, plus the production team, plus…. I’d bet money this is just the tip of the iceberg. Which is why they are so damn mad.
A whole swath of people are being made irrelevant by Harper’s press tactics.
For future career changes: how does one say, “Do you want fries-and a table dancer with that” en francis?
How about a Charlie Foxtrot of Liberal reporters.
From one of the posters on CBC Watch:
“There are other facts that people seem to be forgetting. Many of the people on the list may have a pass for Parliament Hill, but that does not mean they are there every single day. In fact some people may be assigned a permanent pass but actually are on a back up list in case the regular camera man, soundguy, producer or reporter is sick that day. Also there are many reporters and tech’s that have passes assigned to them because they cover the kind of stories that occassionally requires them to speak to politicians. Rather than applying for a pass each time, they are assigned permanent passes. Aside from the time is saves the reporter and their bosses, it also saves alot of processing time for Parliament hill staff and the RCMP that needs to do security checks before the passes are issued. I worked for CTV on the Hill for three years.”
In any case, there are many other things going on in Parliament besides the prime minister’s announcements…now they have more time to promote the Opposition and their views.
Nothing useful, one assumes.
Like I mentioned once or twice in comments before…
I once knew this guy who had an office wih a phone on the desk. The phone never rang.
So after about one year, he was so bored, he quit. TG
113! Sycophants whining about not being spoon-fed their stories from Liberal media flacks is pathetic.
Auction the CBC to the highest bidder, if any.
Failing that it should be sold to Conrad Black for a dollar because he has a proven track record in making media work.
Q. “How many CBC reporters does it take to cover parliament hill?”
A. “One to ask actually ask questions and 112 to copy and paste for their reports.”
You people just don’t get it. Just as certain species of animals give birth to thousands of young so that one or two can survive, having lots of employees with press passes increases the odds that more CBC reporters make it into the Senate chamber, to continue CBC’s profound influence on our nation’s institutions for generations to come.
So the line up for the senate is at least 113 people long, eh. And this list doesn’t even cover the announcers that have a chitchat with these “journalists”.
Libby Raoul:
Like lemmings to the cliff. Your corect of course. That was the idea behind public day care as well.
Ottawa radio host Lowell Green often mentions that he has the top rated show in his time slot, and runs it with a staff of 2. His competion at the CBC, a distant second, has a staff of 28!!
What do all these people do???
keeeee-rap!
to paraphrase W.C. :
Seldom have so many done so little for so much.
And not one of these so called reporters could discover anything wrong with the quebec liberals or adscam, or the golf course. I also ask, what do they do.
