Those who insist that there could never have been a collaboration between the Saddam Hussein regime and al Qaeda on 9/11 need to read Ed’s following blog entry, in full. It doesn’t prove the case, or claim to, but it makes very interesting reading.
I am always amazed at those who claim, with absolute certitude, that we know that Saddam’s regime had nothing to do with 9/11. We don’t know that. We don’t know either, with any certainty, that Saddam did collaborate on 9/11, but we know that he had motive and opportunity, and we know (read Ed’s post) that there is some evidence of collaboration. Not conclusive, but evidence. Read.

I think G.W.Bush would give up his two daughters if he could find a justification for going into Iraq. I have to assume until he starts using this information that it is a plant by one of Bush’s 28%ers(his approval rating for the war).
You gotta ask yourself, if you were Bush, and you had any evidence that Saddam was cavorting with terrorists, wouldn’t you take it and stuff it down the throats of the MSM? I think so. She never, in my memory, did such a thing to Chretien/Martin, though they were far less accessible and “accountable” to the MSM than PMSH.
I saw the whole spectacle as an attack by the MSM on Mr. Harper. A partisan antiConservative attack.
Who are the MSM to expect to have whatever they want it however they want it? Do they really have such delusions of grandeur?
I think it’s going to backfire on them, as they’re now only preaching to the already-converted leftists. Regular folk will not be impressed with this unprofessional, moonbat-like behavior. What will they do next? Throw a pie?
Further, the MSM let Chretien get away with his own abuse of the press. For example, his telling Christina Lawand that she’s “getting old– go have a baby and then you can apply to my social program… next!” And that’s only one example.

Another day, another predictable troll with nothing new to say.
Due to recent discussions here, I planned to deliberately compare the coverage of the take-note debate in the three papers I read at breakfast. I found the results interesting, you may too.
The National Post had an above-the-fold article on the main page, but the title was weak: “Afghan debate not really a debate”, in 1 cm high type. The article is I think ok; it begins well: “Canada’s four political parties threw their unwavering support behind the Canadian Forces deployment […]”.
The Edmonton Journal gets top kudos today, at least for headlines, which for me is notable because they usually drive me nuts (except Lorne Gunter of course, who only occasionally drives me nuts 😉 Their headline, above the fold and in 2.5 cm high type, uppercase, was: “MPs RALLY BEHIND TROOPS”. The story is on A3, and again we have 2 cm bold type, mixed case: “Four parties support troops in Afghanistan”. The article itself is quite weak; the whole second half is about Dosanjh. But at least they got the headlines correct.
And then, of course, there’s the Globe and Mail. No main page headline. Article on page A4. Headline: “NDP demands answer on Afghanistan”. The article begins with: “The New Democrats cast doubt last night on whether Canada’s military mission in Afghanistan can succeed […]”
Memo to the Editor of the Globe & Mail: You asked for a debate. You got it. You lost. Pouting does not become you. Although, I suppose, it does ridicule your journalism.

I’m puzzled by your assumption that Bush had no justification for going into Iraq. He has repeated, again and again, the reason. I’m sure you’ve heard the reason, and there is only one, in his various speeches. The reason is ‘democracy’.
Faced with the very real threat of Islamofascism, the US decided, correctly in my opinion, that a major tactic to deal with this Islamofascism, would be to ‘take out’, by direct and indirect means, the military dictatorships of the Middle East. These military dictatorships were run as tribal, rather than democratic, systems – and, because the population growth of the last two decades had increased exponentially, tribalism was now dysfunctional. And dangerous. These ME states were keeping their populations repressed via military dictatorships – and a repressive religious fundamentalism. This was ‘exploding’ into the West. A basic tactic is to remove tribal dictatorships and allow freedom to develop.
That’s the agenda. It’s never been hidden; it’s been discussed and articulated repeatedly. And, Bush has warned people – that it will be a ‘long haul’. The tribal leaders, those dictators, won’t want to give up their power. And, you don’t change a society’s normative systems in a week. It takes time. He most certainly, never, ever, said it would be a ‘slam dunk’. He said the opposite.

Yes Kate, those of us who’ve been within the Islamic community knew Husseini and Himmler. When I first heard about it – it was through an electronic news group with some Israelis trying to promote peace in the M.E. I thought it was a rumour because no one offered any evidence on it. I spoke to an Ontario lawyer while we were on the topic of Sharia law in Ontario about two years ago who confirmed it. It’s nice to have the actual pics and story to solidify it.
And bty, it was actually at that lawyer’s suggestion that I write to Little Green Footballs blog and it was quite possible he mentioned your site – to go to with my story. Instead, I decided to write my own blog – and is a large part to why I post anonymously.

There were a number of us who pushed very hard to have the Ontario government reconsider having Shariah law used for civil marraige disputes in a non-regulated setting. I have a number of posts on it from last year for those who are just acknowledging that Sharia is a reality in Canada.

The drive to provide Soviet style institutionalized day care is being pushed from the top down, not the other way around that has been suggested by the opponents of giving parents choice in child care.” Gallant added, “for the previous 13 years, Canadians ha(ve) been saddled with an interventionist government that without a doubt has been anti-family. The worldwide trend away from Soviet style institutionalized day care has been very pronounced in those countries that were formerly part of the old Soviet empire and are now democracies. Our plan to provide benefits directly to families is in tune with the experience of other democratic countries.”
The Renfrew Nippissing Pembroke MP is backed up by authors on the subject.
Peter Shawn Taylor, writing in the Fall/Winter IMFC Review, ‘Comparing Canada’s family policy to other nations’, compared Canada’s Liberal day care plan to that of Hungary. “During communist rule (1949-1990), the predominant feature of the national family policy was factory-provided daycare,” wrote Taylor. “During these years, childcare was seen as a means to boost the female labour supply and increase economic production. In 1980, there were nearly 70,000 Hungarian enrolled in formal daycare. Since the collapse of the Soviet Empire, child care usage has fallen dramatically in Hungary due in part to greater preference for at-home care. In 2000, the number of children in formal child care stood at 30,000.”
In response to the Liberal demand for an apology, Prime Minister Stephen Harper replied, “I would observe that after 13 years in office over there the Liberals had not created any child care spaces. TO CALL the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) a terrorist organization would be an understatement.
For two decades, the Tigers have used suicide bombings, political assassinations, extortion, intimidation and forcible recruitment of child soldiers in their struggle for an independent state within Sri Lanka. The Tigers have thus been unsurprisingly listed for years as a terrorist entity by the United Nations and many other countries, including the U.S., Britain and Australia.
But not, until Saturday, by Canada. That�s when the new Conservative government officially ended this country�s embarrassing reluctance, under the previous Liberals, to ban the Tigers. The long overdue move makes it a crime to participate in LTTE operations, and outlaws the Tigers� efforts to funnel money from front groups in Canada � in particular, by targeting the large Tamil immigrant population in the Toronto area � to the terrorist organization.
The Grits had argued they didn�t ban the Tigers because they didn�t want to adversely affect the fragile peace process. But as former Canadian ambassador to Sri Lanka, Martin Collacott, has pointed out, the practical effect of that decision was to allow the terrorist group licence to operate in Canada, obtaining badly needed financial support and, ironically, hurting prospects for peace.
The Tigers become the 39th group so banned in Canada. No doubt, the government�s move is being warmly greeted by members of the RCMP and CSIS, which have long warned the federal government about the Tigers� activities in this country, from money laundering for terrorist purposes, to exploiting our immigration system to bring thousands of Tamil guerrillas to Canada.

Ontario farmers want to slow the food supply.
More than 100 farmers are holding a rolling blockade at an east-Ottawa food distribution centre.
Farmers plan to remain outside the National Grocers Building on Sheffield Road until Friday afternoon.
The blockade is part of the farmers quest to press the Federal and Ontario Government for more financial assistance.
Organizers warn if this protest doesn’t yield results, farmers could decide to block food terminals completely. +
