Angry has a rumour that Dear Leader has sent out a call for help.
I say call Team America!
Update – got word from a second source that there may be something to Angry’s rumour that there may be issues involving Paul Martin’s plane. Breakdown? Or – and this is pure speculation on my part – with stories of the Liberal party’s massive debt and possible bankruptcy, maybe it’s cash only at the PetroJetFuel pump… heh.
Send in the Sea Kings!
Update #2 – Paul Martin’s plane did a touch and go in Saskatoon, arriving about three hours late. They blamed freezing rain in Vancouver for delaying their departure.
So, was there freezing rain in Vancouver? It’s 46F there at the moment.
Update #3 I’ve been stuck in Vancouver airport when they’re hit by freezing weather – it’s a mess. Or maybe not. I just placed a call to an agent at Air Canada cargo (located in Vancouver) who couldn’t remember any freezing rain or commercial flight delays. Well, there should have been lots of media on the plane. Perhaps we’ll hear from them.

You know what’s funny? The Thunderbirds always kinda scared me, a lot like the Liberals!
Speaking of funny, I wish I would have found this a month ago. You guy probably knew it already but in case you didn’t there’s a Canadian Election blog search website at electionblog.ca which I thought was good for research. Maybe Kate could put it in her links.
To be honest, I never read anything but SDA anyway 🙂
Can we now say that Paul is looking a little “Flat”? Will anyone admit to having a Flat Paul doll from the glory days?

Energy Cheques In The Mail

Low income families with kids and some senior citizens may find their bank account a little larger.
The federal government is delivering it’s Energy Cost Benefit this week. The one time tax exempt payment is intended to help alleviate high energy costs.
The benefit ranges from 250 dollars for families getting the National Child Benefit Supplement to 125 dollars for single seniors on the Guaranteed Income Supplement. >>> cfra.com >>

“I ain’t ‘fraid of no Liberals….”
Should I dare mention the Energy Cost Benefit is being paid for be Saskatchewan? That’s right. Vote for a fair energy accord for Saskatchewan. hehehe…
OT (but I needed somewhere to get this into the blogoshpere).
Background: One of the first pieces of mail that my wife and I received in 2006 was our 2005 tax packets. I don’t recall having received them so early in past years, but I filed them away for later when I do our taxes.
Now, two weeks later, I receive another packet in the mail, with new forms and new numbers, taking into account the changes announced by the Minister of Finance on Nov.14th. The changes look quite nice from a tax refund point of view.
What really caught my attention, though, is that I received this updated package, but my wife did not.
I am a citizen (by birth). For convenience sake I always tick that box on my tax return about being automatically registered with Elections Canada.
My wife is a land-immigrant, and thus is ineligible to vote. The Elections Canada box is therefore marked no.
So, what am I getting at? It seems to me that this “revised income tax information” is being sent, one week prior to an election, only to voters — not to all taxpayers!
Conclusion: the Liberal Party is using government information and resources to try to infuence voters.
I smell a rat!

Since the Liberals are such strong supporters of Kyoto – perhaps an alternative means of transportation should be considered – something like the Simpsons episode with Ed Bagley Jr. and his car run on his own sense of self accomplishment

In a Monday press release, the University of Toronto undergraduate student union said students will not be able to vote by special ballot on campus because of an intervention by Liberal party lawyers.
In a press release, the U of T Students’ Administrative Council said that a spokesperson at Liberal incumbent Tony Ianno’s campaign office “admitted that contact made by lawyers of the Liberal Party of Canada with Elections Canada resulted in the halting of the student polls.”
Paul Bretscher, the president of the undergraduate student union at the University of Toronto, said it appears that the Liberals were concerned about how students would grade their record on education. “The logical conclusion is that perhaps the Liberals were worried, in such a tight race, that the student vote would go against them.”
Mr. Allison fired back, saying that the secrecy was an attempt to gather votes for the NDP candidate.
Toronto’s Trinity-Spadina riding is shaping up to be one of the most high-profile and hotly contested races in the Jan. 23 federal election. The downtown riding is one of the most ethically diverse, stretching from the U of T campus through Chinatown to the waterfront.

Reporter: Did you have any clue you would be caught with all these scandals?
PM: Look it: Make no mistake. Let me be clear: Fundamentally, I had no idea.
Reporter: What do you say to Canadians that have lost faith in politicians.
PM: Essentially, I’ve got to tell you. The fact is: this is very, very important.
Reporter: Do you still love Canada? Now that it’s has gone Conservative.
PM: I must say, I really mean it. I can tell you, this is absolute priority.
Reporter: And finally. Will you move to the Bahama’s?
PM: Clearly.
Only problem calling “Team America” is that they are puppets…the Liberals need trained seals who can clap…
If “Fat Paulie” wants to get out east he only needs a balloon and to keep blowing all that hot air.
Well, speaking as an “evil fundie gun-totin’ american”, let me say I’m glad to see Canada FINALLY having an election. Now if you can only pry the Trudeaupist bureaucrats away from the levers…

What kind of people are we gonna get, for a hundred dollars a month, to watch our kids while we go to work?
Will this lead to an increase in child abuse by childcare workers?
Sam; are you calling my mother, grandmother of my kids, a child abuser? Are you calling my husband or I, child abusers? The point is SAM, we want choice. Why should 9-5 ers in large urban centers get subsidized day care, when shift workers in other parts of the country, (who pay the same tax) can’t find suitable care?
Sorry for the O/T but I had to address this. Sam there is a time & a place.
Sam Says:
“What kind of people are we gonna get, for a hundred dollars a month, to watch our kids while we go to work?
Will this lead to an increase in child abuse by childcare workers?”
nice try sam. What makes you think that Canadians will have ONLY $1200 to spend? This is just the amount the Tories want to give back to reduce what Canadians are already spending. If I spend $1200/month on child care – then the Tory plan gives me one “free” month that I didn’t have under the Liberals.
Is there some reason you don’t think Canadians are capable of making better decisions with their own money than the federal government? Are you worried I might spend my money on beer and popcorn instead of child care?
Sam is apparently one of the societal leeches that thinks government should pay the whole shot for them. The $1200 is to help offset the cost of childcare and is fair to everyone, whereas the liberals think that only people who live in cites and work 9-5 deserve to have their childcare costs offset.
missing from this election is any mention of kyoto man mr. s. all his buddies are being hauled off planes and locked up but the great architect of the greatest scam of wealth in the western world is somehow never connected to our great leader. the shredders must be working 24/7 on the hill about now remember the americans under clinton voted this scam down 95 to 0 great blog kate bartinsky
Sam, as a mom of a disabled child, Paul Martins daycare plan doesn’t include me. At least under Harpers plan I will be able to offset the cost of having a certified care worker come into my home.
Neither daycare plan covers the complete cost of childcare Sam, but at least under Harper’s plan everyone is included, and can choose whats best for their children.
I don’t need some stupid Liberal, dictating where my child should go or who should care for them.
Tory Gremlin struck it again! 😉
Sam – the $100/month (we have 3 kids in that range) is going to make it easier for my wife to stay home and watch our children. We would have received absolutely nothing under the Liberal plan – in fact, our one income household would be taxed to subsidize my co-workers, who have two salaried homes, each of them earning more than I do!! It’s our choice to keep my wife home, but don’t penalize us for making it – keep it a level playing field.

The real question isn’t why Harpers team didn’t stand up for the students Sam. The real question is why are the Liberals so concerned with the student vote going against them.
You can spin this on Harper if you so wish, but it only raises more concern for me regarding the Liberals and what lengths they will go to silence those that may oppose them.
They’ll do anything to win even cheat, lie and steal.
What else would you expect from the Liberals.
The Liberal Party is obviously monitoring these comments. They’ve already replaced the scowling John McCallum and Ralph Goodale photo, which was up for days.
Well, good for you! Why don’t you replace your voting intention and STAND UP FOR CANADA!?
Don’t believe in Tory ideas, Liberals in the war room? That’s fine. Why not cast a vote Jack’s way?
Think about it seriously – your friends are.
Sam is a Troll. Do not Feed it! Smash it with a big rock if you can or if you have nothing to do maybe take it for a walk! Be careful , trolls like to mis-quote
Sam,
I’ve posted this before but evidently you’re new to the site. The one thing that is wrong with the Liberals child care plan is that it has been done before in this country and it makes no sense to repeat the Native Residential School plan. Give your head a shake!!
Sam is nothing but a Liberal Shill. Clearly.
Plane break down or freezing rain.
Seeing as how this is Canada, and weather is kind of important to pilots, you’d think that airplane could ply in freezing rain.
After all, 46F on the ground is one thing, but it’s always below freezing at altitude! If there is any moisture up where they fly you can bet it’s freezing.
So, flight delayed due to freezing rain? Not likely. If that was the case any airport in the Great Lakes region (including Toroto’s Pearson) would be perpetually closed.

Regarding Paul Martin’s jet problems in Vancouver.
Maybe he tried to pay for his jet fuel
with his health card…
not his credit card.
His health card…
not his credit card.
No Gas Money?
Another possibility not considered: the Grit aircraft needed fuel…they coundn’t get it on credit…and it took a couple of hours to scrape up the $20,000-$30,000-$50,000 or whatever it costs to fill the tank on a Boeing 727.
you obviously don’t have kids Sam or you have never raised them. $100/month per child is cash money to the people I know…and we’re talking beer, popcorn, diapers, Tums, new furniture or Tampax.
The GST is going DOWN
in Canada
Stephen Harper said it
I’m not making this up
If it was on the frosty side, they might not have wanted to spring for deicing – I think that’s several thousand bucks a shot. Waiting a few hours for the temperature to come up would solve it.
Modern airliners have deicing systems that cover flight in icing conditions. You don’t want to take off with ice on the wings as it can cause issues at low speeds but airliners aren’t typically affected by flight in icing conditions as the leading edges are heated (by either electric panels or more likely exhaust gas bypass).
If Air Canada wasn’t delayed, then it’s likely that they had to wait in queue for deicing (although 3 hours seems a bit extreme). All that being said, Martin is flying around in a clapped out 727 that no self respecting airline would even fly anymore. It’s about the only thing his flailing campaign could afford. I notice that Harper and Layton even are flying around in nice new 32x series Airbus machines.
new rule if we get a conservative majority, your party has to be solvent to run one candidate and on the outside of the steel bars.
We flew out of Vancouver at 10:00 am this morning. No problems or delays, a sprinkle of rain, fairly nice out. Arrived Saskatoon early aft., no problems.
“Icy conditions” is BS.
