Wait for Duceppe to confront Martin on
Making Quebec a Nation
On Option Canada file where gov’t broke the law
Name the names of the candidates who got the dirty money
Be prepared to see Martin collapse on stage -it is going to be a hoot.
I might watch the debate after all.
Update – well, real life does interfere around here. I’ve been out of computer range most of the day, but I see the comments are filling up with content from the debate in French.
The Liberals have already pulled an attack ad that smeared the Canadian Armed Forces. If anyone knows where a copy can be found, let me know.
Update – CTV has it – look for it at “Liberal attack ad about Harper and military presence0:30” link.
Bourque describes the Duffy vs Duffy moment everyone is chattering about in the comments;
After it was learned that the Liberal Party pulled one of the 12 ads they released Tuesday – the one saying Harper would put soldiers in cities, CTV cable news guy Mike Duffy blew up at Martin Liberal spokesperson John Duffy during a live post-debate broadcast. “We will not be intimidated!”, barked Mike, as he rebutted the Liberal Duffy’s attempt to block broadcast of the despicable ad, one that, earlier in the evening, Liberal leader Paul Martin shrugged off as part of the game in a post-debate scrum in Montreal
The file is a bit large, and it’s taking down hosting sites, so several mirrors are already up. I’ve included a few that are listed in the comments of the “Flanders Fields” post.
If you have highspeed, it’s a clip, that along with the original ad, has the potential to “go viral”.
Try here,
here,
, or here for starters. a whole thread of them at Free Dominion. One of them should work.
I get the suspicion the Liberals have written off this part of Saskatchewan. The ratio of Liberal ads to those of the NDP and Conesrvatives seems quite low. Speaking of which – driving around Saskatoon both yesterday and today, I’ve yet to see my first Liberal lawn sign. Or billboard. I’m not saying there aren’t any. But there weren’t any on the main thoroughfares I took – though I actually saw two for Christian Heritage!
Also – a reader reminds me, what was Martin trying to pull by turning his back on Duceppe during the debates, in full view of the cameras? I saw it played on CTV news, I’m told he did it twice. Is that supposed to be subliminal or something? Looked contrived to me, and I only saw it once.
I’ve copied a transcript of the Duffy VS Duffy moment in the extended entry.
***********
Mike Duffy (CTV): So that’s Stephen Harper with a very strong response, John Duffy, to this ad that was released to the internet, was handed to broadcasters for news purposes, never actually made it to the air. Can I ask you a question? Who conceived of this ad, and what was in people’s minds when you would go that low? This was like something hinting that the Canadian Forces are something like what we saw in in Chile with Pinochet.
John Duffy (Liberal Strategist): Michael, let me answer that question perhaps with another question. Tonight four leaders debated the future of Canada in the province of Quebec. They debated child care. They debated a woman’s right to choose. They debated the future of our country and national unity and we have now spent about ten minutes talking about nothing but an ad that never ran and I think you know… last night (Mike Duffy interrupts), last night Paul Martin said…
Mike Duffy: You’re asking why, you’re asking why I raise this?
John Duffy: No
Mike Duffy: Becasue this has to do with integrity. It has to do with the people who would want to lead our country. This is a perfectly legitimate issue to be raised by journalists.
John Duffy: Absolutely
Mike Duffy: It was raised there. We have every right to raise it. We have a public responsibility to raise it. You were in here earlier when we were off the air on a commercial break trying to intimidate me in to not going back to that ad…
John Duffy: Michael…
Mike Duffy: We will not be intimidated. We will do our jobs as journalists. Here’s Gilles Duceppe.

When I tried to go to this site ascreen came up saying Forbidden You don’t ahve authority to view this site.
I sure want to see a replay of that gem.
does a prime minister have the power of forgiveness and forgetfullness that an outgoing president has??
will PMPM forgive the outgoing crooks or is that up to Mr. Harper???
Ever since the PM made his “I grew up in this house” speech, I suggested he would stop at nothing to keep from opening the books.
With less than two weeks left and after watching the hate-the-military ad et al; i’m not sure that Paul Martin isn’t going to announce that “the Neo-Cons will have to kill me first before they take away my country!”
WMA or no WMA, he’s headed for the bunker folks.
Kommend Eva?
The fact of the matter is that Liberals lie.
They win by lying.
They govern by lying.
And they’ll hopefully lose by lying.
Make sure of this. Vote Conservative. Clean up Ottawa. Restore Canadian democracy, prosperity, accountability, integrity, security and quality of life. Most importantly, restore Canadian HONOR, RESPECT and PRIDE!
Here is where you can send a thank you for standing up for integrity in journalism note to Mike Duffy.

Duceppe is particularly fond of the Option Canada scandal because he loves to recite the number of Conservatives who were involved in the whole Canadian unity operation. So it was not just a Liberal scandal, he says, it was a federal scandal – meaning that the whole country is rotten with the old Mulroney Quebec Conservative crowd of the 1980s and 90s. Plus Bob Rae from the NDP.
Most of the people that make it to Ottawa find ways to pad the pocket books of their friends, who in turn repay them with favours of some kind.
This country was founded on graft and corruption so why all the shock?
We should ask Paul Martin and the Liberals:
Does the end (Liberals in power) justify the means (corruption, criminality, dishonor)?
The Liberal ads are backfiring. I wouldn’t be surprised if they all get pulled.

Liberal Red Book leaked!
Waiting for the Liberal Red Book? Wait no longer! Here’s an, ahem, “advance copy”.
Please credit the Western Standard and our blog, The Shotgun!
LATE NIGHT READING UPDATE: Use the word search function to see what’s important in the Red Book and what’s not, measured by how many times a word appears in the 85-page document. For example:
“notwithstanding clause”: zero
“western alienation”: zero
“democratic deficit”: zero
It’s fun — do it yourself!

Bogeyman politics
By CHRISTINA BLIZZARD
How desperate are the Paul Martin Liberals? Well, their new attack ads that portray former Ontario premier Mike Harris and his Common Sense Revolution supporters as the big bad bogeymen of the federal campaign raise more questions about the Grits who launched them than their Tory targets.
The whiz kids who dreamed them up might want to consult with their star candidate and high-profile turncoat in Newmarket-Aurora, Belinda Stronach.
When she ran for the leadership of the Conservative Party, Stronach was nominated by Harris. Not just that, a large number of Harris’s inner circle worked on her campaign.
And perhaps Martin’s spinners should come out of their smoke-filled backroom long enough to ask their minister of human resources and skills development why it is that Harris is on the board of her daddy’s company — Magna International…

Kate-
Re Paul Martin apparently turning his back on Gilles Duceppe.
Harper,Layton, and Duceppe when shown from the end lectern position, were imbibing on what appeared to be a very delicious clear liquid which was stowed on a shelf in their speaking lectern.
Martin, particularly in the Vancouver debates, was seen, when not flailing and spinning about like those singing-dancing Santas while answering/not answering questions, was addressing some kind of hootch from what appeared to be a shelf or credenza on the back-drop behind his position.
You refer to last night’s French language debate in Montreal. He was seen a couple of times from Duceppe’s standpoint to be roaming about in an apparent senile mini-romp until he realized that his refreshment is now in his lectern as the others.
Heavy.
