If justice is no longer blind, then why should regular Canadians be? It opens the door to Canadians to provide “special” treatment to their fellow citizens who happen to be black — store owners would be allowed to refuse service to black kids in gang outfits, for example.
But he also points out the obvious — a determination would be required of who is actually black. Do you think these “community leaders” would approach former South African bureaucrats on how this is best done?
The “R”-bomb, one of the left’s most lethal weapons, is one of the greatest obstacles to common sense that we have. Merely uttering the accusation is like duct-taping someone’s mouth shut. Don’t like pimp culture? It’s because you’re a racist. Don’t like Jamaican gangsta culture? Racist. If you don’t like the fact that a black youth who is the son of two doctors might get a lighter sentence for a given crime than an impoverished white youth with a brutal upbringing, then you are racist.
Well, what is race? If someone has one white and one aboriginal parent, are you still aboriginal? If you are three-quarters white, but look black, are you black, or white? And if you are half black, but you look white, should you still get the benefit of special sentencing guidelines?
Maybe one of the lefties who pop up here can answer this question: Who will determine whether a person is black, native or white?

How can you tell a white regular person from a white trash person. Since white trash is pretty much as hard put to it as the average black person or part black person or native person …or at least if one examines the life-styles of these people I paerhpas similar results will be found. If a person is white trash but is one quarter black, is he white trash or black trash, or does he qualify as actual trash or just one of the less fortunate.
What about female trash or female black or female native, or gay black or bisexual white part black and or native. What if the person is an American … is that person simply a bastard or .. what if the black person or native person or woman or etc etc is also american ..
This is the kind shit lefties love to dwell on. Just prioritize all life forms in Canada and assign them their differing levels of culpability in various illegal acts and then get the government to pay billions to sort it out is each court case as they come up. I smell lawyer!
Better yet, lets just make all crime and deviance a no fault activity. let’s legalize drugs, street racing, rape, murder. Come to think of it most people don’t go to jail for most of that stuff anymore anyway, so why bother arresting anyone.
Hey let’s have anarchy … that would be cool, everyone just free to do whatever they want regardless of what it is, then we can simply sue when something bad happens to us. That way we can pay for the lawyers. Then the judge can give them a good talking to and let them go.
Liberalism is very complex and can’t really be understood by normal average people. Although immigrants who can’t even speak English understand it quite well. The righties resort to more straight forward simple solutions … things like basic crime and punishment. Blind justice, sentencing to fit the crime.

I agree that some form of affirmative action is necessary to correct the imbalance in incarceration rates. Therefore I suggest that white women be targeted, arrested and convicted to balance out the prison population. While we are at it lets fix popular music, basketball and football. Its the balance of ethnic and racial groups that count not merit or competency, which are old, dead, white guys ideas anyway.
Toddlers, too, are highly under-represented in prison.
If there is a God in heaven, then hopefully she will let Martin Luther King Jr. come back to lay an ass-whoppin on these a**holes. Isn’t this the exact thing he was fighting against?? Yeah, well that’s what race-based legislations lead to — differential treatment and inequality.
When you get down to it race should be irrelevant, in the sense that we all know of good and of bad people of every race (as judged by the ancient societal notions of good and bad).
It seems to me that the structural foundation of the current issues is the timeless tug of war between the individualists and the collectivists. To those who see a set of individuals around them, each standing or falling on their merit, race is irrelevant. To those who see themselves as a cog in a collective machine, good and bad are seen as abstractions, not actions.
It does matter who one associates with. Hang around with criminal gangs, regardless of the membership rules, and you can expect to be treated differently from those who don’t, and for good reason, and it doesn’t matter what your explanation or excuse is. To put it in the vernacular, you don’t tend to see non-white church services, or businessmen, or doctors, for example, being hassled by the state particularly more than the non-non-white.
It seems clear to me that there are racists in every race. I think that that worst thing we can do is collectivise race. In order to properly celibrate human existence, we must each be allowed to succeed on our own mertits, not as predefined by some avolitional a priori collective such as race or gender.

EBD–Liberals are also under-represented in our prison system–if we corrected that perhaps all the other problems would disappear? We could have a Justice system rather than an Injustice System?
They learned well from Natives, in this country, not to mention young offenders. Why not just do away with prison all together? Ontario refused to recognize Shariah law, so it’s unlikely they’ll cave to this sort of crap. Boy, do we ever need sweeping reform in this country. The loonies are running the asylum.
I think most people are troubled by racially based schools. There was an article reently about a racially based private school in toronto, they even indicated that while not all of the teachers were white that perhaps they should be…
Anyway, they did indicate that test scores were higher and marks had gone up.
1) How scientific were the results versus anecdotal
2) How much is the hawthorne effect. The act of measuring and testing humans tends to make them aware that they are being tested and makes them perform better, in the short run
3) Self selection, those parents that would put their children in an environment like this value education and have some additional means to make it happen…even if they dont have the means they are clearly sacrificing for an item that is deemed important. Study after study has shown that if education and reading are valued in a home then it tends to be valued by the children and they perform better. These results outweigh income, prior education of the parents etc. So maybe this kind of school captures those families.
Questions, I have many. I cannot believe that pulling back into our racial, sexual and tribal beginnings (I should have attended a school of Scots) is the way forward.
Call me closed minded, isnt that ironic, but racially based schools can’t the rigt answer.
That being said, lets look at this from a free enterprise perspective. If parents were allowed to choose whatever school they wanted, and racially based schools were one of the options what do you think the long run results would be. We would see a movement of resources, teachers ad students to the best performing schools and those that prepared the children best for the world…those that failed would see a quick degredation in teaching quality and outcomes and a fall off in demand, stranding those who were left.
MY bet would be the school that focussed on performance and was colour blind in both its hiring and its admission practices.
My final point is, somewhat contradictory. Education of the youth in our society is a public good. Abandoning education at the primary and high school levels is a recipie for a society we dont want. There MUST be minimum standards and levels of education, the challenge is how to enforce and bring about the results of an educated and responsible citizenry, one resistant to racially based clarion calls. If I remember correctly those calls used to be referred to as a fascism.

I even have black friends, here in Toronto, (who don’t do drive-bys, execute people on street corners, deal crack, leech off the system, board the public transportation, then spit on the floor and harass the passengers, intimidate strangers on the streets.) What in hell is going on, here?
Does “black” cover the Negritos of SE Asia, the darkest inhabitants of India, the Australian aborigines, the Papuans and the Melanesians of Oceania?

I’m afraid I must respectfully disagree with Pat Patterson. I’m sure he/she means well, but I personally know that “affirmative action” is nothing but political BS. There’s really no such thing; it’s merely a claimed “policy” to justify discriminating against those who don’t happen to belong to any state-deemed “target group” or against anyone who isn’t related to existing employees of the state or isn’t a member of the governing party or a friend or relative of a member of the government.
I personally am in a position to be a beneficiary of “affirmative action” but, although I did everything the leftist state told me to do and applied to everyplace they recommended, talking to the indicated individuals, I was always told they have nothing for me, despite my excellent qualifications of a BBA degree with honors and a diploma in info tech with a 93% avg. They actually didn’t give a shit that I have a hearing impairment and therefore fall under one of their categories. They basically told me to PFO. I’m convinced they deemed me as “not deserving enough” despite falling under one of their “target” categories. They obviously took into consideration my pale skin, the fact that I’m a man and the fact that I have no familial or political ties to the state. The balance obviously tipped away from my favor.
So I must disagree with Pat on the concept of “affirmative action”, whatever its application or intent.
Besides, it’s a bad idea. Look, the prison demographics are as they are. It is not proven at all that there’s any systematic discrimination against any minorities wrt the prison population makeup, therefore it would be foolish and dangerous just to allow the state to go around releasing inmates just because they’re minorities and to throw more white guys in prison just because they’re white, offence nature and seriousness notwithstanding…
