Commentary from Newbeat 1
There was a disaster management conference about a month ago but it’s been 4 years since 9/11 -and they were shocked that fed-provincial disaster management officials hadn’t met in 10 years. You can only get away with this when the media is asleep. There is a lot of CYA buck passing going on because it doesn’t look like they are ready for anything.
Exactly what has been done to protect canadians since 9/11?- only 200 out of 6000 first responders had advanced disaster training according to the AG’s report-how many major disaster simulations have been done in 4 years? How many CSIS agents are we short? -at least 700.Exactly what are they prepared for- since it doesn’t look like they are prepared for terrorists at airports, ports, transportation systems, emergency rooms.

This info doesn’t surprise me. Anyone with open eyes and keen perception knows Canada is wholly unprepared for disasters such as viral epidemics and 9/11-type terrorist attacks. No doubt in any thinking person’s mind that there’s no way in the world the ERs can handle such calamities.
I don’t believe, despite all the Librano hot air and billions being thrown in whatever direction, that 9/11 has changed Canada in any significant way. The evidence does not support the Libs’ claims. In fact, we’ve seen evidence it’s gotten worse; case in point: recall the closing of border checkpoints for invalid reasons?
Just watch what happens. It’ll be eye-opening for the apathetic masses. And then many will forget about it; the MSM will see to that so as to help the Libranos stay in power despite allowing the nation to be unprepared for the worst.
Woe Kanadahar!
So much to say on this but lets keep it short. Lets hope nothing happens, lest we be accussed of hoping for a disaster. But the resources do not exist, we all know it. The first responders will do their best but the ability to respond is low, see the Ontario blackout or the slow response to the Tsunami, let alone the federal governments pathetic response to Sars…yes those brightly coloured leaflets in the airport did a LOT of good.
No coordination, no communication…we are dancing on a volcano.
And who will offer to go to Canada’s aid?
Not to worry, McLellan has put out an announcement of many more people that she has in place to protect Canada–more talking heads but no one to do the work! Interestingly the name at the top of the list, Leo Kolber, is a well-known Liberal bagman and Senator–guess adscam is leaving the ad men and moving into the security field?
This doesn’t surprise me either. And I’m not hoping for a disaster either. I’m hoping we don’t have one. But I fear we will, eventually. Canada is too easy a target and if the terrorists can’t get to the US they may decide to ‘dump their load’ here instead. We DID support the Afghanistan war and we DO have soldiers there now remember.
When and if a terrorist attack does hit Canada would it not be justice if it were to happen in Ontario, the home of the idiots who keep this sad excuse for a government in power? Let’s hope it never happens though.
Typical Liberal ostrich in the sand reaction to national security issues…..uh…make that ANY issue that isn’t lock-step with the Trudeau/ CBC/ limp-wristed/ everyone gets a turn/ all westerners are evil/ let all the children (enrolled in gov’t funded daycare)link hands and sing Age of Aquarius/ socialist pap: Ignore it and hope it goes away.
Tamil Tigers in Canada support/vote for the Librano$$$$$$$ and AdScam Martin’s regime. What are the Tamil Tigers’s demands as the quid pro quo [an equal substitution] for their votes? AdScam Martin to remain silent? Or more sinister demands?

I’ve just returned from an agricultural terrorism seminar, put on by Homeland Security in Olympia last week. There was one Canadian fellow there (an ex-Mountie). I asked him if he believed his government was in any way serious about dealing with terrorism. He began to laugh, and finally said, “Somewhere, maybe.”
The wheels of progress are too often greased with blood.
John C.,
Yeah, let’s hope it never happens. But so nice of you to suggest a target like my home – just in case. Of course it will happen in Ontario. Ya think they’re gonna target Upper Moose Armpit, Alberta (population 12)?
There are lots of people in Ontario that despise the friggin’ Libs just like you do and I’m definitely one of them. If you can come up with some constructive way to convince the others here that voting Liberal is a dumbass idea, let me know. I’m all ears.
Kate,
The Canadian Emergency Preparedness College (CEPC) in Arnprior, Ontario (a small town), was closed by the federal government as not cost-effective.
This is the current situation, with the College moved to a federal general training facility in Ottawa:
http://www.ocipep.gc.ca/ep/college/cepc_e.asp
The old College brought together provincial and municipal personnel with emergency responsibilities–many from medium-size towns– for effective courses. The courses at the new location in Ottawa are likely very similar.
But in Arnprior, with attendees living on site (the buildings of a WW II airfield, condemned as unsafe which caused the move to Ottawa), close personal relations were forged that I think transcended the content of the courses. That I fear will be lost.

We must keep the Liberals in power, else the
Maritimes will have to learn to live on their underground ecomony alone without the gobs o’ cash from Oddawa.
Quebec will have to learn to live like the third world socialist economy that exists there now without Alberta’s extorted funds. Tee hee.
Ontario will go down with US auto industry and high energy prices and striking teachers etc.
Manitoba will not be able to hold back their natives and french any longer and perhaps simply stop mosquito spraying to keep everyone indoors so they can’t riot in the streets. Winter there will do the same.
Saskatchewan won’t notice any difference either way.
Alberta will get a lot richer and freer.
And British Columbia will all have to go on therapy for the rest of it’s days cause it’s just all too confusing for us.
So, to prevent this disaster … Vote bastards in the next election, break out the Doritos and tune in to the sports network, and try not to think about your hard earned tax dollars being flushed daily.
The only disaster that the feds are pre-occupied with, is the public finding out what has really been going on in Ottawa for the past 30 years! Jailtime for the adscammers- not with the RCMP ‘investigating’ it. Recovery of millions of stolen tax dollars-nope. Tossing the parasites and criminals- haha- surely you’re kidding!
You all must know that when you can no longer tolerate an intolerable government and there appears be no hope of change through traditional means …. the R word becomes a reality. Think it can’t happen here? It already did happened in Quebec back around 1970 with the FLQ who couldn’t see any peaceful means of elevatign Quebecs status in the Anglo dominated dominion. They didn’t have a full scale revolution, Just a bit of terroist activity and it only took about a half dozen scum bags to pull it off … they accomplished the same result because they have been in charge of Canada for the past thirty years.
Could that be why we have had thirty years of out and out corruption? Just a thought.
Forgive my typos … jeez. I will try harder next time.
First of all, Brian M., it is EXACTLY because of remarks like “Ya think they’re gonna target Upper Moose Armpit, Alberta (population 12)?” that will cause Ontario to be targetted rather than the RoC (although hopefully Kenora residents will be safe, as they’ve already indicated a desire to leave the province, taking their city & land with them). My personal hope is that it’s not just the town, but the hotel, hosting a Liberal convention. But I doubt terrorists are looking at doing us any favors.
wrt “readiness” things must be REALLY REALLY bad as Gidget named the Screecher as “not hot” due to Canadians’ perception of us not being ready (although shouldn’t she have named the Lib PR firm? not that we’re really ready, but we should at least THINK we are, shouldn’t we?).
Unfortunately, kids, we are truly hooped should terrorists or some biological hazard hit us. It’s situations like this that make me really glad I’m a knuckledragging redneck, as there is faint hope that radical Islamists will see Alberta’s general dislike of SSM as reason to not pick US.
Well, they did get that “terrorist tax” added to your airline ticket pretty fast. And with all the money they collected Canadians got… what?
This is just another round of smoke and mirrors from the mystic realm of the PMO. Kind of like announcing $$$ for this, that or the other thing but if you read between the lines it is all money previously allocated.
CBC locks out 5,500 workers
TORONTO (CP) Viewers and listeners across the country tuned in to unfamiliar faces and voices on the airwaves Monday morning after the CBC locked out 5,500 of its workers.>>>>>
CP calls them “workers”. Lock the bums out; throw away the key; shut down this monstrosity forever.
Actually Candace, my crack about Moose Armpit was just that. It was mostly in jest. Remember, I’m on your side. It was also pretty tame compared to the general slurs directed at Ontario seen here on a regular basis. I guess it’s a little different when the shoe is on the other foot.
Ontario (the GTA in particular)has been ‘blessed’ with a huge population of Liberal voting immigrants. I’m pretty sure I didn’t suggest they come here.
So have just a bit of compassion for those of us born, raised and gainfully employed here. We’re not all the enemy.
Brian M. Sorry for the late comment. Hope you scroll down to read this. I have relatives in Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. So I certainly am not suggesting that Ontario be targeted. In fact I think there are several reasons why it may well be Alberta.
Anyway, I do hope that you will decide to move to Alberta and vote yes for their vote for separation when that time comes. I live in BC and personally know three people who are prepared to do just that, move back to Alberta and help in their bid for separation.
What is the RCMP up to now? Why does this take months? Sure allows for speculation/rumours & etc.
Why the secrecy? Why are the words “retired banker” included? >>>>>>>>
Investigation into shooting of N.S. man by RCMP officer could take months
HALIFAX (CP) – An autopsy on a retired banker, shot and killed by police near Yarmouth, N.S., has been completed, RCMP Const. Joe Taplin said Monday.
But he said the report into the death of Robert Gregory, 70, is not complete. Taplin said it could be weeks or months before the public learns precisely what happened last Thursday night in the community of Forest Glen.
Gregory was shot by an RCMP officer on a wooded road near his home after police responded to reports of gunfire.
People living in the area said they heard two shots from what they believed to be a police automatic weapon.
RCMP have not said whether Gregory fired first or what threat the officer believed he was facing.
The shooting is the second death involving police in southwestern Nova Scotia this summer.
Another man died outside of the Digby detachment after being hit by a Taser
I bet the rent for that place I used to rent on 13th street S.W. in Calgary is through the roof now.
Yeah, I know. I’m always arguing for one Canada, no borders, but if Alberta did ever separate, I would have to think about Calgary again.
Can you picture it? Life in tax free Alberta where evry citizen gets an annual $5.000 oil sands bonus. Do they still give everyone in Dubai that cash bonus every year?
Rents in Calgary would jump to $2000 monthly though.
Nah, I’ll stay here on Vancouver Island. Love the smell of that stinky seaweed. Ferry trips to little islands like Salspring, Texada, Quadra, Denman and finally Hornby Island where the hippy gals like to go nudie, not to mention the musicfests everywhere. 73s TG
