I see Robert McClelland chimed in early. “Political BS” eh? Well, he would know.
So then, Angus, I could claim to be a “practising” NDP MP, constantly voice my disagreement with Layton’s policies in Parliament and consistently vote AGAINST the party?
And the NDP would not discipline me or seek the return of my membership card?
Holy crap! My Priest is CATHOLIC!
I guess what goes around comes around its just that Libs and Dippers dont like it when it happens to them:
Charlie Angus and Celina Symmonds had their lives turned upside down when they were told by their parish priests that they could no longer take communion because their stands on social issues conflicted with church teachings.
Angus, a New Democrat MP who represents a northern Ontario riding, ran afoul of the Roman Catholic church over his support for the federal government’s controversial same-sex marriage bill.
Turns out that our pal Charlie has a parish priest who thinks that being a Catholic takes a little more than reciting the catechism, saying confession, and slurping back the bodynblood once a week. Turns out that Charlies priest is gasp! a PRACTICING CATHOLIC.
Man! What are the odds?
Angus, of course, reacted with typical wounded lefty pride and like any good socialist immediately attributed the incident not to his own failings, but to those of the Church. http://www.rightthinkingpeople.blogspot.com
Angus and Celina “slurping back”… love it. Jesus is laughing today; me too.

Feminists understand: Consequences and Actions…blah, blah, blah.
That is, for others: Never for me; Me and I can write our own ethics; to hell with your ethics.Blah, blah, blah…
Why is my nose broken? Why is my other person and me refused communion? We are socialists.., blah, blah, blah….
Intolerance is a great and fearful thing. Decisions, decisions.
Is this the start of something big? Will the Catholic Church do the same thing to PM Paul Martin? I don’t see how Martin can be exempted. Will Martin’s parish priest have the courage to refuse communion to Paul Martin, or is this church discipline reserved only for back benchers?
In addition to my above comment, if the Church doesn’t refuse Paul Martin and other high profile MPs communinion for their stand on SSM, what will the Church be branded as in the eyes of the world?
You’re absolutely right JJM!
I guess … in our postmodernistic society nobody expects to deal with consequences. We make our own reality, right … how can someone else tell us what to believe? Our age of tolerance has gone way too far!!!
