Grewal was accused of having broken airport security rules on June 4 when he asked strangers to transport a package for him on a flight to Ottawa. The package allegedly contained tapes of secretly recorded conversations of talks between Grewal and senior Liberals
But the RCMP say there was nothing criminal about the MP’s actions.
RCMP Cpl. Peter Thiessen says since Grewal had already passed through security, there was no criminal offence.
Transport Canada has also cleared Grewal of any wrongdoing. In a letter to the MP, the agency’s manager of security operations says Grewal did not contravene the Aeronautics Act.
Of course, we all knew that already, because it’s been the non-stop morning talk of the same media pundits who two weeks ago honed in on the incident with the white hot scrutiny normally reserved for travellers caught with fissionable materials….

I guess nobody here was watching the National last night then, it was the second or third item mentioned. So I’d say CBC *did* mention it, you just didn’t see it. As to there being no link on their website, you might want to look again, it is on the front page. Perhaps you might want to verify your facts next time before claiming something? Oh wait, that’s right, that’s not Kate’s recommendation for new bloggers, so why would she be any different herself? You have got to stop letting your biases cause you to jump to conclusions completely unsupported by the facts/reality. Screw off, McDonald. I did a search on the CBC website this morning and found no reference to the story at the time of making the post, so I quoted a CTV item.
I was making a comparison between the heavy rotation the original story got on the airwaves, versus the relative disinterest in his exoneration.
And no, I was not watching the National last night – I received the tip from a reader, which rather underscores my point. There was nonstop reporting on local radio when the original incident occured – so far, not a word on the update.
It always was an non story…i wondered why the usual MSM suspects ran with it in the leade…to their credit they have covered Grewals exoneration on the charge fairly well but not as prominently as his accusation.
But hey, how about that “scary-gloomy” Steven Harper eh? We’ll put under a microscpoe on his anti-scary, anti-gloom summer tour ( ignoring Paulie Librano and his crimes four 2 months)…Harper’s not foolin’ anybody…he’s scary and gloomy and we intend to prove it whether it’s true or not.
I will be watching old Duffy tonight and he better have it on or else watch the emails tomorrow. I think he will actually. But Kate is right. If there is coverage on this it will be kept low key. I wonder if the Post will run a front page on it tomorrow.

“Ethics Commissioner Bernard Shapiro’s decision not to investigate Prime Minister Paul Martin’s chief of staff for his role in the Grewal tapes has prompted NDP MP Ed Broadbent and Tory MP Peter MacKay to call for Shapiro to resign”.
Is it too much to expect that an ethical ethics commissioner be appointed? Seemingly, that would preclude anybody on the Librano$ donors’ list, methinks. Why not Ed Broadbent? He’s the most ethical person in the house, and this is something he could do even while he is looking after his wife. It’s not like there’s an investigation every day. But then again, when the Tories win the next election, and all the corruption of 12 years of Liberal rule is revealed, they’ll require more than one ethics commissioner to deal with the fallout.
I wonder if this will be headline material for “buckets”. I caould guess what kind of item would warrant concern, such as a tape. I think his tapes will continue to remain as they are… evidence of liebral corruption.

Grewal is not out of the woods yet. Although he has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the RCMP, and by Transport Canada, Air Canada is still conducting its own investigation.
Last I heard, Air Canada was not part of either Transport or the RCMP. It can investigate ’til the cows come home, but so what? Grewal might get to fly WestJet instead.
He’s likely more stressed about the deportation threats anyhow.
It’s not a triflng matter. They could deny him peanuts the next time he flies, or they could seat him next to a fat person.

Have you ever looked at the CBC website? It has no relevance to any other news site out there. They are constantly headlining stories that ONLY the cbc deems important(liebral friendly ones). If the report is factually incorrect, you have a couple of options: provide the correcting information, or send a complaint to CTV. (or both).

Even the report “exonerating him” perpetuates the stupidity of the earlier ones. Was he asking strangers? I don’t think that’s right. He was not. He was asking people if there were any MPs on the flight going to Ottawa. That’s not the same thing.

If the RCMP declare the tapes he has willingly given to them “genuine”… that would be about as close to a character unassasination as you could get. Not in cbc land however.

Kate, you and I seem to think alike. I, too, have been wondering why was the little non-matter of Mr. Grewall’s now-admitted-to-be-perfectly-okay handing of a small package to a fellow passenger to take to Ottawa was mentioned to the media in the first place.
I would have said something when I realized that Air Canada was still “investigating” when Transport Canada and the RCMP totally exonerated Mr. Grewall of any wrongdoing. But I must confess I do fear a lawsuit if I were to suggest that perhaps the top leadership of that corporation is so connected to the Libranos as to actually engage in deliberate political sabotage of the Conservatives, thus giving the media a false reason to continue its deliberate character assasination of Mr. Grewall, whom I consider a patriot trying to get PROOF of Liberal wrongdoing so that the media and even the Libs couldn’t deny it. But astonishingly, they found a way to make many Canadians think ill of a real Canadian, Mr. Grewall, by paying some alleged “experts” to claim that the tapes were fake, when any intelligent person can see that they’re undoubtedly real, according to another expert finally provided by the Conservatives. But, of course, the Libs continue to sing the same tune while the MSM does everything it can to hide its provision of the new info way down the line from the headlines so busy hardworking people may not notice it and thus continue to believe the previous media tempest-in-the-teapot about “doctored tapes”.
I’m starting to think that since the Libs came to power in 1993 they have been systematically infiltrating every institution and organization, public and private, in whatever way they could to help them achieve totalitarian control over Canada and Canadians despite occasional elections etc. It’s frightening. They are able to tell people what to think and even what to do so they can get what they and their friends want, to hell with the country and the people.
So, until the horrible “Liberals” are thrown out soon, well, Canada will remain behind the rest of the world, as if it were like Iran, Syria or North Korea, except without weapons of mass destruction.

Yes, Jema54. Blogging may be just the thing the people need to counter the oppressive behavior of the “Liberal” state as we have it today. Let’s just hope they don’t get re-elected, especially with a majority, and ram down our throats (not literally, I hope) some kind of gag law that effectively shuts down political blogging. It may not be beneath them, really.
Blogging seems to be having an initial positive effect on the MSM by providing competition (albeit very low-budget) to them. Bloggers like ourselves (Conservatives, of course) care about the truth and about what’s important, like being able to make a living like our parents did, getting modern medical attention when we really need it, and having real protection from rogue states and terrorists with nukes. Liberal media types just want us to think about the special interests and about whatever else the leftist establishment dictates shall be promulgated to us through various media, be it news or entertainment. Those of us who want to think about and discuss what really matters finally can, thanks to the magic of the internet.
Let’s make good use of this new medium, Kate and every other real Canadian. Let’s hold the government and media to account. Don’t let them tell you what to think. Think for yourself.
