  1. Thought you might like this comment from an anonymous poster on Newslog, in response to the assertion that Stronach has displayed moral strength:
“Moral strength? How much moral strength does it take to take a bribe – a ministership – from Paul Martin (who is desparate to do ANYTHING to keep his job) while simultaneously putting a knife in Stephen Harper’s back. It’s no secret there was never much love lost between those two.
So yes, she betrayed principle, honour, and people’s trust in her for personal gain. SHE’LL FIT RIGHT IN TO THE LIBERAL PARTY.”

  2. Belinda Stronach defects from Conservatives to Liberals: raises the moral standards of both parties.

  3. Thanks for the great idea. I’ve updated my blog accordingly. mapleleafblog.blogspot.com (Actually, the resemblance really is> amazing!)

  4. They ought to amke a rule: Crossing the floor triggers an automatic by-election.

  5. We’re better of without her, but the timing couldn’t be worse. Well, I guess it could be in the middle of an election.

  6. In the USA absolutely no American conservative girl would ever, under any circumstances, sleep with Bill Clinton. We would never trust any woman who would consider it.

  7. Greg,
That’s the difference, isn’t it? Canadians want no morality, just the freedom to sleep around and be proud of it. But it’s the fags that want to be married and faithful(?)….go figure.

  8. Re: “Paris Hilton of Canadian Politics”
Being a little unfair to Paris are we? Paris may be easy but she isn’t cheap to buy.

  9. For someone with the moral terptitude of a snake, she’s certainly found the perfect lair.

  10. Beltway Traffic Jam

    he daily linkfest:
Jen is definitely not getting married in 2005. Probably.
Eugene Volokh ponders why women change their names when marrying.
Andrew Sullivan celebrates the anniversary of gay marriage in the Bay State.
    Dean Esmay comments on …

  11. I Googled Belinda dot com
But found the link to be wrong
Should have been dot cee eh
    It works better that way
But Belinda dot com could have won.

  12. FWIW, I think that this will probably — let me repeat, probably — hurt the Liberals in the long run. Those who follow American politics may remember what happened to former California governor Gray Davis. His efforts to stay in power, including interfering in a Reublican primary, finally got the voters completely fed up with him.
(I had a little more to say about this on my site.)

  13. This is only a good move for the libs as a short-term strategy. I agree that her contribution in the long run will not be positive.
The interesting thing is, however, is that conservative bloggers have been calling her a whore or, even worse, Paris Hilton, all day. Funny, but I don’t recall any derogatory comments about Belinda when she was a Conservative.
    Who says dogma is dead?

  14. Oh yeah, I forgot…when I read “So yes, she betrayed principle, honour, and people’s trust in her for personal gain” in the first comment, by thparkth, I was positive s/he was referring to Peter McKay and the knife he stuck in David Orchard’s back.

  15. ‘I don’t recall any derogatory comments about Belinda when she was a Conservative’ Well, duh, that’s ’cause it’s acting the whore that gets you called a whore. I think it would be a nice gesture to provide a free condom and penicillin prescription to every Liberal who has to sit on the same bench with her.

  16. Phoff; Whoever you are you are talking after the fact. Why would anyone call someone a traitor or a seller of their own self if they have not done that deed? People are calling belinda a name that fits her actions. What is the price? Who knows; as Mr. Shaw said when speaking to some “lady” of the day,”We know what you are-all we are haggling about is the price!” Why would anyone think anything else?

  17. By the way, the agenda has already started. On TVOntario, Studio 2, there’s Don Martin and another, talking about how Belinda’s leaving is ‘devastating’ to the CPC, because – get this:
She funded the merger of the Alliance and Reform; she was one of the top 500 business CEOs in Canada; she was a ‘moderate’, a ‘poster girl’ for the moderates….in contrast to Stephen Harper’s ‘rigid’…..etc, etc.
That’s her role. To destroy Harper and ensure a Liberal win.

  18. She saw the light. The Con.s are not mainstream and do not represent Canadians. The monotonic Mr. Angry (the name the Globe gave to Harper) lacks ability. He would benefit from experience in the private sector to learn the challenges of Canadians.

  19. Her boyfriend was cheating on her by sleeping with seperatists. I would have dumped him too.
BTW, all your sexist Paris comments only serve to reveal the type of jealous immature perverts you really are. Just look at scary harper’s high school photo and you’ll see what I mean.
I’m glad you’re showing your true colours now, and not after the next election, where you hoped to rule with a 30% minority, and the help of the seperatists.

  20. Oh.. like the Martin government has?
The fact that the Bloc has voted with the Liberals more often than the Conservatives is conveniently forgotten….

  21. That’s because the conservative agenda is so looney (the part that’s not hidden) they are forced to vote with the sane parties sometimes.
Preston Manning is spinning in his grave.

  22. Duh.. I’m a thoughtful conservative. I’m so angry at that blond bimbo bitch I might say something that would expose me as the sexist bigot redneck I really am!

  23. heh puppet,
do you know what hollow points are?
I have them in my unregistered rifles.

  24. Im sorry, dont mean to be a loose cannon and go off like that, from now on I will be more civil like pmpm and belinda.

  25. Wow! Every dumb-ass moronic troll who has ever visited SDA seems to be here today, gloating.
Ironic, then, that this defection is only going to hurt the lieberals. But that’s ok, shortsightedness is the very definition of liberalism.
    Too funny.

  26. Belinda Stronach has as much moral fibre as over-cooked noodles and the backbone of a worm.
