May 1 Update: Challenge is now over – thankyou to everyone who pledged. Final total for SDA was $1729.00 !
The Blogging Tories have undertaken a challenge to raise $10,000 for the Conservative Party by the end of the month.
1. Click on over to the Conservative Party donation page
2. Donate as much as you like
3. Report back here the amount that you donated in this post’s comments section. (comments can remain anonymous)
4. Vote Conservative in the next election!
With 80 or so members, it shouldn’t take long.
Keep this up, and I’ll have a future patronage appointment sewn up!

  1. Do you have a challenge for the western separatist website?
I gave the reform and alliance enough money thank you.
    Ontario = Bad

  2. I’m assuming you have to be a Canadian citizen to contribute. Might be a good idea to make that clear.
(Not that I would contribute anyway, in spite of my sympathy for the Candian Conservatives. I think US citizens can cheer from the bleachers, but should not try to get into the game.)

  3. This is the first time in at least 20 years that I have any hope for significant change within the federal system. I believe this is our last chance as well.
If the Liberals are voted back in, I am putting my shoulder to the wheel to support Alberta separation from the ROC.

  4. $100.00 (But with severe misgivings). In the Federal elections, back in the mid-eighties, while working in a mine in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, I marched into the NDP office there, and volunteered to help their campaign. I put up signs in trees on the highway, handed out blurbs, and pestered my co-workers to distraction, ( most of whom laughed in my face).
Our ‘cantidate’, David Ramsey, won with a majority, (a no-brainer in a mining community), then went to Ottawa, walked across the floor, and joined the Liberanos!?! (Personally, I will always believe that the Glibs put him in there, to take that seat!)
Never before in my life, have I ever donated money to any political party, and I have not voted in any election, (federal or provincial), in the past twenty years!
I cannot forget, that the Conservative Party of Canada gave us Brian Mulroney! I cannot forget, that under Mulroney’s watch, the first large scale criminal underworld from Quebec, installed themselves in Ottawa! And I cannot forget- that what Cretien and Martin are now getting hosed for, was already established in our capital, over twenty years ago!
The corruption in our political system, has now become endemic, and we are already an international embarrassment- it’s time to clean house. If this does not happen in the next few months, I fear for the future and security of my children-who were born here- and cannot be expected to know any different.
And are you aware- that if you want to re-nounce your Canadian Citizenship, the paperwork will cost you one hundred bucks?

  5. Dave, if you don’t vote against the Liberals, you’re voting for them, and you deserve everything that you may be damn sure you’re going to get.
Mulroney’s regime was much cleaner than Trudeau’s which preceded it, and incomparably cleaner than anything since. If it was too corrupt for you then why are still living in this country? Face it, you are perfectly at ease with corruption. You approve of it. And you are responsible for the consequences.

  6. Kate, you can take credit for another $100 donation to the Conservative Party from Saskatchewan. Your awesome blog made me do it.
    VOTE CONSERVATIVE PARTY OF CANADA!

  7. Wow. I’m impressed. And a pledge… if they don’t put it to good use, I’ll recode the link under that “steaming pile of crap” icon on the blogroll….

  8. This is a great idea, now when are we going to see the totals adding up daily? Is there something in the works to show this?

  9. $50
Not a blogging tory, just someone putting their money where their mouth is

  10. I’m kicking in 50 – 25 for this site to track, 25 for Angry in the Great White North to track & 50 plus some time for my local candidate. (OK, a LOT of time, I’m motivated to punt the screecher).

  11. Dave, if you don’t vote, you can’t bitch.
How non-voters can watch Iraqis, whose lives were threatened if they showed up at a poll station, showing up anyway…because they wanted and had earned the right to vote. Or the Ukrainians, getting to vote but having it fixed and then – amazingly – holding a quiet revolution to regain a fair election. Or the Afghanis. The blacks in the US during the civil rights movement. The list goes on & on…
Our grandfathers & fathers fought in WW I & II to ensure we had that right. For that right to be wasted is an immense disservice to them and to our country.
    Get off the couch.

  12. Candice,
    You said it.
“Our grandfathers & fathers fought in WW I & II to ensure we had that right.”
    I up the anti to $ 101
    Who’s going to to call?

  13. Kate,
I’m in for $100. Just did my taxes and $100 is probably about the amount of my money that the Librano’s wasted today, at least that is the average amount I pay a day in GST, Federal, Provincial, Gasoline, Property, etc etc etc taxes. More than my mortgage, food, heat, electricity, and oil combined!!!
F*@&ing thieves, my blow for democracy!

  14. Dave: What we are seeing today started with Trudeau and Paul Desmarais Senior. Trudeau is dead, but Desmarais and his crew (who are many), live on. It seems that the heirs to his throne, Paul Jr. and Andre are set to continue the Trudeau legacy, already prepping the Trudeau sons with lauding media appearances, and installing their stooges in the UN and the Liberal Party of Canada. I don’t think Canadian Conservatives realize how big a force they are fighting. Conspiracy Theory? I think not. http://www.mediaright.ca

  15. I’ve been called by the CP already, and have pledged $100.00. What I’m most interested in though, is that bloggers are one of the only free forces left to exact real change in Canada. I predict that the indignant tone expressed by many editorialist will evaporate mid-way through the upcoming election. Any tiny mistep that Harper and the CP make will be trumpetted all over the media. Anne Coulter, love her or hate her, says, “Conservatives can only win if they are 10 times better than Liberals!” I’m inclined to believe just that.

  16. The good news is, on most (but not all) blogs I see lots of women. At the risk of sounding *liberal* I must say that we (women) are used to having to be 10 times as good to get half the credit (if you disagree, just check the comments after this one with FEMALE names…) (I’m SUCH a bitch, which is the female equivalent of an “aggressive male,” I might add.)
So… carry on Conservatives! You GO girl(s) (or boys, whatever, just DO IT)

  17. And I’m American. We act ten times as good as the rest of the world and still get ten times the blame (never mind the idea of “credit”). That really makes no sense to me, Australia is always on our side for example but they get no blame. Not saying they should, but it really throws a wrench in the works as far as trying to figure out a pattern.
At least we don’t have a female president – then we’d probably get a hundred times the blame.

  18. WOW, Diana. I’m impressed.
Hope all of Ontario is going to vote right this time around.

  19. Me too! Can’t tell you how disturbing it is to have so many “switch hitters” trolling the polls these past few years.

  20. I actually helped the local conservative last election here in my riding.
Look at my eyes rolling back into my head.
My city gov thingy is ,…. I have trouble saying it outloud…euueueue …….eerrrruuuoooooo.. Olivia Chow.
    Tony Iano is my libarano.
This area is a freekin basket case of crack heads, nonstop break and enters and ,garbage everywhere ,but the food is great.
We actually have nightly patrols of moonbats with knapsacks full of cat food and paper disposasable bowls that they never pick up.
They feed stray cats and rats and racoons so the cats are to fuckin fat to bother with the rats and we step in cat ,rat, racoon, possum, crackhead, wino shit everywhere.
Forget about any help from this basket case riding, I’ll do my part though!
From the heart of the beast.

  21. Good god man where ARE you, it sounds like Hell. Any how I’ll just take 50 bucks straight down to Jason Kenny’s office here in town. call that a total of 1051.
    Daryl

  22. The wife casually mentioned last night that she pledged $100 to the CPC after listening to the PM dithering on John Gormley. Without any knowledge of the Blogging Tory Challenge, methinks she saw it as a therapeutic exercise, as I’ve noticed her political stress level dropped a couple of notches since.

  23. well now I think I will just give $103 to the cause but I am going to give it to Jason Kenny also, as I have already given to the conservative website. Do I hear $105 from anyone………

  24. $25.00 but more goes to my local riding – which thank God is a CPC riding and likely to stay CPC in what I hope will be an early election to throw the fiberal bums out!

  25. I’m in!
Oh wait a minute – I misread it as a contribution *of* Sam Adams.

  26. Hey folks….I”ve done you one better. Get in touch with your local office of the Conservatives and you can fill out a form that allows them to deduct a set amount each month. I’ve been doing it for two years now. Each month….$20 from my pay goes to the effort. Far better than the lump sums. Easy to afford, but it adds up.
