Those Libranos And Their Clever Little Budget Cuts

With the children all safely locked up in Federal Government Indoctrination Centres, who needs to worry about solving crime anyway? To pay for vital Liberal programs like government day care, the gun registry, and Adrienne Clarkson’s overseas entourage, the money has to come from somewhere

The cost-saving measures will see one of six RCMP forensic labs closed …

Well, let’s be practical. So long as the RCMP are short 2500 officers, closing detachments in grow-up regions of Quebec, and a month and a half behind in processing Interpol terrorist alerts, it’s just a little silly to get twisted out of shape about backlogs in forensics. It’s not as though the Canadian justice system actually locks up criminals when they do bother to convict them.

To boost revenue, the Liberal government will hire collection agencies to recover debts owed to Human Resources, Social Development and Industry Canada.

“CreditScam” has a nice ring to it. Just remember where you heard it first.

The feds will fire armed fisheries officers who enforce habitat protection and the Fisheries Department will ground five of its 27 helicopters and mothball one of three research trawlers.

Maybe they’ll cut of some of the Oceans and Fisheries officers inspecting culverts in grid roads in Saskatchewan.
That’s not a joke, by the way.

  1. I assume forensics labs are expensive, but when there’s only six in the first place – would cutting one really make a difference?
As for Creditscam, sorry, that’s not new – that’s something I hear on a daily basis when the Visa people call me.

  2. That artical tells it all. One more step in the democracy cycle
    from apathy—> next stop dictatership.

There just backend loading the budget anyway so they don’t have to give you anything or very little this year, and back out of all promises next year. It’s the Liberal way…

The AB gov. is actually talking about setting up there own crime lab due to response time anyway.

  3. From the article:
“Revenue Minister John McCallum, who led the expenditure review, said he agonized over every cut. But he said the government plans to make a regular exercise of chopping low-priority programs to fund the Liberal agenda.”
While I’m always in favour of cutting useless government programs, I find this really disturbing. Rather than reviewing programs to see if they actually are useful, the Liberal way is to cut those programs that are “low-priority” in favour of those that fit the Liberal agenda. Probably every program cut in this budget could be funded by elimininating the high-profile but useless gun registry and the CBC subsidy. Instead the Liberals will fritter away at the edges eliminating useful programs that don’t have well-funded or vocal lobby groups.
And you just have to laugh when you read that they’ll be hiring collection agencies to recover money that’s owed them. Like what? You weren’t going after money owed you before?
Meanwhile, CBC is reporting that the cost of the Arar inquiry is already at $23 million.

Why can we not hold an inquiry in this country without it costing millions? Most of the money is of course going to outside lawyers. I guess in-house ones aren’t good enough. The Liberal gravy train continues.

  4. Fisheries officers are patrolling for prairie cod and halibut? Time for you to bring back Bob and Doug, who can share their views on this sorry state of affairs.
Those repo men the Feds are gonna hire…will they go after deadbeat students? Welfare cheats? Immigration hucksters? Liberal priorities make me laugh, except then they endanger our security.

  5. Hmmm, if what you say is true Rob, then this would be a perfect opportunity to start AB’s own provincial police service and start setting up those firewalls Harper was talking about before he became leader of the CPC. That could be the only real good news in this budget!

  6. Both Harper and King Ralph are chicken shit. They say all these things to get public attention, then do nothing.

The AB separatist party is ganing a lot of ground though, so will see how long it takes them to get bought of as well…
