Embrace Hollywood

“Democrats need to embrace Hollywood because this is where they need to come to learn how to tell a story.” – Michael Moore*

‘Sexuality is a large issue in America right now, but it isn’t so much in other countries. There’s a raging fundamentalism in morality in the United States. From day one audiences didn’t show up. They didn’t even read the reviews in the south because the media was using the words: ‘Alex is Gay’.
“The script was just too ambiguous, too questioning about an action-hero who was masculine/feminine. These are tough qualities in Hollywood. It’s just too big a life. It doesn’t fit in into the Hollywood formula.” – Oliver Stone – director

  1. “It will do much better in Europe”…of course, because they’re not stupid. They are patient and can sit for two hours catching the little intellectual nuances Stone wanted to impart. I see a hit at Cannes!

  2. “Alex”? I had no idea Ollie and “Alex” were so chummy.
Maybe Mike and Ollie should get together and condescend to the public for “Hill” Clinton in the next election.

  3. I guess it’s not possible for him to consider the idea it might just be a really crappy, poorly done movie.

  4. I don’t understand these Hollywood prima donnas.
For one thing, what on earth are they talking about? Just exactly how much sex would Americans need to have to satisfy Hollywood’s demand for our productivity? What should we do? Cheat more often? Go to more hookers? Encourage more transgender pedophilia?
Peter Jennings has non-stop Viagra commercials running during the news. What is that supposed to imply? A real journalist has urbane, unparalled sex with his liberal groupies without removing his tuxedo? (One product advises consulting a physician in the event of an erection that lasts over 4 hours. Is that supposed to be a caution or a temptation?)
I think Oliver Stone and his cronies need to lay off the cocaine for a couple of weeks and maybe get into detox.

  5. I can’t understand how Oliver Stone can claim too much sex caused fundamentalists to stay away… but if a foreign director produces ‘Troy’ with crucial sexual elements (Achilles’ relationship to Patroclus) taken out, there’s no uproar!
Besides the fact that ‘Troy’ was sold as “eyecandy for ladies” due to Brad Pitt, etc.
Wonderful double standard they have there.
