  1. “The National” broadcast tonight on CBC had in-depth reporting on Johnny Depp’s lawsuit in England, and also on wild Otter conservation efforts on the BC Coast. I’m sure glad nothing of consequence is going on in the rest of the nation. It is important to stay up-to-date on these other less-reported, but surely important, matters of concern. What would we ever do without the wise gatekeepers of freedom and democracy in CBC’s employ. (s)

  2. Through all of the recent unmasking of the WE charity scam(s), has anyone asked the question: “Who paid for transportation and accommodation for Sophie, Margaret, and Sophie’s daughter to attend the WE event in London where Sophie and her intimate friend Idris Elba came down with Covid19? Were any of them paid by WE for their appearances? Inquiring minds want to know.

    1. Marc Kielberger himself kindly provided the answer (sort of) today.

“Kielberger just informed the Commons finance committee that in addition to the $312,000 paid to Margaret Trudeau for speaking at WE Day events she was reimbursed an additional $167,944 in expenses. So a total of $479,944.”

He didn’t break down expenses for each appearance.

      1. Yes, but I’d like to know if Sophie, her daughter, and her mother-in-law all flew aboard a Canadian Government plane, paid for by taxpayer dollars, and that their stay in London’s fanciest hotels was also paid by Canadian taxpayer dollars. I’m interested in who specifically paid for these expenses. And who signed the cheques. Canadians have a right to know.

        1. Commercial aircraft most likely.
(Federal government has five Airbuses that can cross oceans, and several smaller Challengers that typically do not (without multiple fuel stops): one Airbus hit a hanger wall and is undergoing months of re-hab, another has had ongoing engine problems, and one is mostly used to transport Canadian Forces to/from Europe. Two other Airbuses are configured as Military Mid-Air refueling tankers (total of 5 Airbuses))’

Probably stayed in swanky hotels that charge $16 for orange juice.

WE says they paid. WE gets to subsidize every single donation it gets through the income tax system (like every other charity in Canada). WE also saw it’s federal government grants increase by 1000% after Trudeau was elected in 2015. So basically, it’s semantics. The Feds didn’t write the cheques but they directly and indirectly put WE into a position that they (WE) could afford to write those cheques to various Trudeau relatives.

Opposition MPs have very little time in a committee to challenge the government so this kind of question is never going to be asked. Trudeau will have hostile questions for a grand total of about 25 minutes on Thursday (1 hour, minus a long-winded opening statement and Liberal members’ puff-ball questions.)

          Lynne:
You question is valid, but unimportant, politically. It is something that can only be determined after extensive auditing, so we won’t know for months or years. Too late to hurt the Liberals in any meaningful way.

    2. The payments apparently where not for speaking but for meeting with influential persons after the speeches.
      That sounds like lobbying.
      Lobbying for whom?
      Lobbying for what?

Let me at this point introduce some conspiracy theory that has no basis in proven fact and is only subjective observation.
Adscam as its goal was less about the money, and more about paying supporters to show up at liberal campaign events.
WE day seems to share the same feature that it is a ready made photo opportunity that gives the impression that the sock monkey is adored by millions of “supporters”.
Also of note is the liberal leadership contest rules allows “supporters” to vote even though they don’t hold a liberal party membership.
This rule change came into place during the sock monkeys run for the leadership.

      That’s my theory anyways.

If you focus too much on the money you start to ignore what all that money is intended to be used for.
There are laws in place that prohibit political parties using government agencies to facilitate their campaigning and there are laws that limit the amount a political party can spend. There are also laws that prohibit corporations and unions from contributing to political parties and candidates.
Ask the question; if a government intended to circumvent those laws, how could they do it?

      1. Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes?”, Joseph – who watches the watchers?

With the RCMP in nearly every way a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Liberal Party of Canada (and eager to remain so – far fewer pesky inquiries of RCMP wrongdoing), who is going to arrest Liberals? And with the judges in their back pocket too, who would lay smack-down on them if they were brought-up on charge?

It’s been that way for a long time. Remember the Gomery Inquiry that looked-into Adscam? It went on forever; I felt kinda’ bad for poor (emotionally-speaking) PM Paul Martin, who said – “Let the Gomery Inquiry finish its work, and then I’ll call an election.” He never did answer as to what his role in Adscam was – he was Finance Minister then, so either he didn’t know about it (in which case he’s incompetent), or he did (in which case he’s complicit).

And all I can remember about the findings of the inquiry is that the Liberals were told to reimburse the misappropriated funds – anybody know if they ever did?

So, the same softball questions Little Potato ignores in Question Period, will be asked of him in any inquiry that results – and the worst that’ll happen to him (or any other Liberal) will be that they become too radioactive for the Party to run again, and they’ll be forced into premature retirement – good thing they’re all rich. Jail time? – HAH! Only little people go to jail.

  3. Yangtze River watch.

The Three Gorges Dam Pool is at 163 meters and slowly rising after several days of high river flows in the upper Yangtze. The upstream is river flow is decreasing, and the they are releasing more water from the dam discharge gates.

There is still lots of room for floodwaters, over ten meters to the maximum level of 175 meters. That is over 33 feet.

  4. Rex Murphy: WE’s moment of glory turns potentially fatal. But for whom does the bell toll?

Virgin Atlantic Airways, one of its strongest supporters, having given “more than $10 million since 2010,” has “paused” its donations. The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is reviewing its support. This is a big deal. RBC has been a “national co-title sponsor” of WE Day events since 2012. There was quite a sting in RBC’s announcement of its change of heart: “RBC expects our partners to conduct their business in accordance with our values, policies and practices.”

      1. Also.. in the Globe and Mail report…

“The charity’s financial statements show that RBC holds a $1.4-million lease with WE that is secured by ‘furniture and fixtures.’ ”

“The Globe and Mail has a sponsorship agreement with WE Charity. It expires on Aug. 31 (2020) and will not be renewed.”

        1. Chris – ‘RBC holds a $1.4-million lease with WE that is secured by ‘furniture and fixtures’ – like my well-armed and poorly financed cousin said when the collection agency told him they had bought his debt in order to collect it – “You made a bad investment”.

          1. “You made a bad investment”

Valuable free advice for those with limited assets. Alberta has a 2 year general statute of limitations. If you owe unsecured debt it goes away in 2 years of non-payment. Do not recognize the debt or make any payment as it will revive the debt. I have seen low tens of thousands of dollars abandoned by creditors as the cost of collection is prohibitive and collection uncertain. If you owe the money to a scumbag creditor they are more likely to sue on principle. Take it through the whole process and then declare bankruptcy. Either way screws up your credit for 6 or 7 years.

          2. – and NO collection agency has power to collect in Canada. You didn’t incur the debt with the collection agency, so you owe them nothing; and all they can do is hassle you.

  5. Kate,

I like the new Font. It looks crisp and professional, and is easy to read.

    Thank you.

    1. So, where’s the donations Morneau said his family gave to WE? I don’t see either the name Morneau or McCain on the list.

  6. Blackie’s CBC has announced it will have Justin fan girl Rosemary Barton cover Great Leader’s testimony tomorrow. She will make sure nothing negative comes across your tv screen about our hero. In other CBC news this morning, Trump is Hitler, Canadians are racist bastards.

    1. I can’t wait to hear from Blackie about how his lying and cheating and stealing from children is an opportunity for all Canadians to grow and become better peoplekind.
That seems to be a common theme in his fake apologies.

    1. Thst video is an excellent and clear presentation of what is going on. Everyone should view it. It is appalling that Democrats and MSM are trying to cover this up. It is treasonous.

  7. Islam celebrates its annual celebration of Satan by having seven Egyptian teenage girls sentenced to two years in prison for dancing on Tiktok. And a man was murdered in a Pakistani court for saying something negative about Islam. Its a good thing we had Mohammad Trudeau visit a muslim family yesterday to show that Islam is wonderful.

  8. Blackie’s loyal CTV is excited this morning about a new series that explores the history of statues in Canada. Each episode will explain statues of people like our first prime minister celebrate racist genocidal bastards.

There is nothing unusual about this reporter simply doing his job, other than the fact that he is simply doing his job and not lying about the rioters being peaceful.

“How It’s Done: Colorado Reporter Puts on a Clinic in How to Accurately Report on Violent Rioters (Video)”

  10. This may be the first report on how the privileged public sector union members are “surviving” the China virus pandemic:
    1) no lay-offs
    2) tens of thousands on paid leaves of absence and not working
    3) raises of 6.64% over the next three years
“Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is fond of telling Canadians that we’re all in this pandemic together. True, but we’re not all in it equally. Not when public servants are getting fully-paid leaves and people in the private sector are clinging to temporary wage support programs.”

  11. Blacklock reports that audits of Blackie’s foreign affairs dept. has shown poor bookkeeping. Also staff giving contracts to themselves, selling laptops at garage sales, fraud, and major fraud at the embassy in Haiti.

  12. ☆– Breaking — coming up — live at 3 pm Eastern–☆

Conservative Pierre Poilievre and NDP Leader Jagmeet Sing will be holding a News conference concerning the WE CHARITY.

    1. During the Conservative news conference with Pierre Poilievre (Finance Committee) and Michael Barrett (Ethics Committee) that ended several minutes ago the Conservative Party is asking for:

      1) A New Investigation into:

      a) the just released figures of expenses from WE CHARITY to the Trudeau Family. New figures add up to ~ $500,000 not ~$340,000, as previously reported.

      b) figures re: $500,000,000 from the Liberal Government to WE CHARITY

      2) For the PM to swear in to take the oath tomorrow, Thursday, as he testifies before the Finance Committee, to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

      3) For the PM to remain at the committee Thursday for 3 hours not one hour, as previously indicated. And to take questions for longer than 11 minutes, as per protocol.

      4) For the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Finance, Liberal Wayne Easter to discontinue being the Liberal Prime Minister’s “body guard” while in Committee.
On Tuesday when the Kielberger Brothers were being questioned, Mr Easter kept interrupting the procedure not allowing the Brothers to speak for themselves. (Poilievre was scathing in this regard)

      Lastly some additional information today:

From the “BLAZING CAT FUR” website moments ago:
“The House of Commons Ethics Committee met Wednesday to deliberate expanding its study further, before even hearing from any witnesses.

The Conservatives sought to request that all cabinet ministers disclose whether they had knowledge of relationships between Trudeau, other top Liberal officials and WE prior to the cabinet’s decision to award the grant program to WE, and disclose whether they, their families, or relatives have any WE connections.

The motion was voted down by the Liberal and NDP committee members.”

Folks you know what this means. They ALL must have egg on their faces, blood on their hands and mud on their soles. It reaches to many levels of municipal and provincial governments as well.

This so called money laundering Charity is for themselves, families and friends, as Pierre Poilievre said, there is very little for THE CHILDREN.

      Lastly,
Pierre Poilievre should be the new Leader of the Conservatives. The other out of touch person, formerly in the Party, is alledgedly implicated through a family member. The BCF piece says it all, otherwise our Country is finished.

P.S. WEXIT from these scoundrels. We’ve had it!! What have we got to lose? Nothing!

      1. “Lastly,
Pierre Poilievre should be the new Leader of the Conservatives. ”

If he’d run, I’d vote for him.

  13. Oh Wow! CTV reports that whiny indians not only practised slavery in the past, but practise modern day slavery. A tribal chief in New Zealand has been sentenced to ten years in prison for slavery. That is so “progressive”.

  14. Blackie’s CBC website is excited tonight, that if an election was held today Great Leader would win.

    1. Very interesting, and appalling. Some of the comments at GP are also revealing. It lends credence to the notion that there is a world power grab hiding behind Covid. I had forgotten about Madagascar being bribed to get rid of their naturally occurring HCQ. Boy someone does not want that to be a successful treatment.

      1. This is pretty shocking but not surprising. ‘They’ are set and determined to have an unelected one world government.

  15. Movie fans can start their weekend off with the last round of films in this month’s John Ford retrospective on TCM. This time it’s some of his lesser-known westerns, such as Cheyenne Autumn (which some people think was an apology by Ford for his portrayal of Indians), The Horse Soldiers, and Two Rode Together.

One western that TCM didn’t show in that series was Ford’s last good one: The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. What made that one stand out for me was that the story was driven by the characters. Watch for it on that channel as it shows up now and then and is definitely worth watching.

    1. I’m presently watching a 1969 Western comedy on the Silver Screen Classics movie Channel, it’s called :
“Support Your Local Sheriff” with James Garner, Walter Brennan, Bruce Dern, Harry Morgan, Joan Hackett etc.
Miss Hackett steels the show, she is a little sloppy and kooky 《~!~》
      I recommend this movie.
      What a hoot!
      It’s 28°C and I’m having a Java.

I do recall seeing the “Man Who Shot Liberty Valence” and liking it, I believe, however, after having checked the plot summary on the internet movie data base, it seems familiar yet still vague.
Good for the reminder of John Ford movies, I’m recording some of them.

      1. That Garner flick was on TCM recently. I remember Joan Hackett from her role as a single mother in Will Penny, opposite Charlton Heston. She died far too young.

By the way, Saturday is the start of TCM’s Summer Under the Stars festival. Each day in the month is given over to movies featuring a given actor or actress. Among the lineup this year are Rock Hudson, Burt Lancaster, Cary Grant, and Charlton Heston.

As for the weather, it’s hot and humid up here, making it hard to sleep. (The landlord stopped providing any decent amount of air conditioning in the building some 15 years ago.) I’m reminded of what a former colleague of mine described similar conditions when we worked in the Brooks area many years ago. He said it was “too hot to think”.

        1. “Too hot to think”…. ha, good one!

Great, I was wondering what happened to that feature on TCM “Summer under the Stars”.

I usually check the movie channels every day anyway, to see what’s on. I have 50% empty space on PVR.
