Television and radio is beholden to government through the CRTC in that it must not only be licensed by government, but must justify at renewal time why it should be allowed a renewal. The media, beholden to political favour, what could go wrong? Ominous indeed. Just add this to the list of information sources already effectively government controlled. Television and radio is beholden to government through the CRTC in that it must not only be licensed by government, but must justify at renewal time why it should be allowed a renewal. The public school system is the most sinister of all in that government (in this case provincial governments) control what can be read and taught in schools. It will not be long before we will see a greater push to control social media and the internet. Most of the censorship will be of the “self-censorship” variety. No-one will want to say anything disagreeable to the ruling class for fear of losing your livelihood. Add to this the laws are and will be tweaked to brand anti-government speech as domestic terrorism. Most of these Orwellian measures are sold to the inattentive public by deception and clever choice of Orwellian language. The rulers, yes including the ones in so-called democracies, will stop at nothing that encroaches on their control and plunder. Parasites, all of them!

Absolutely *&^%$#g right, Phantom! And that holds as true in Red Deer Alberta as it does in Deer Lake Ontario. And I’m not so sure the prospect of imminent starvation would even change things.
Yes and yes lads, but the marching is not so certain. Just watch the Venezuelans. Many protest, upon realizing that there’s no chance of medical care, or a fresh loaf of bread, or a potable gallon of water. But many more just emigrate, looking for a new place to live, and a new regime that promises to take care of them. Even when forced by necessity to fight over scraps of half-rotten food from a dumpster, to feed themselves and their families perhaps for another day, they are not necessarily inspired to “march” for freedom, or to form a new republic predicated upon small government, free market opportunities and personal responsibility. This is a preview of Canada’s future.

I checked the CBC News and Globe and Mail web-sites to check on how the two mega-media giants handled Justin Trudeau’s comments on “fake news” and “hate comments” on social media. Both web sites have given Trudeau’s comments a low profile, buried deep in the news. Similarly, the anticipated rollout of the Liberal govetnment’s favoured media list hasn’t been discussed in the estsblishment media.
All of this spells trouble leading up to the fall election. We could see a situation of government-funded media supprting the Liberals and bad-mouthing the Conservatives, and the government attacking various blogs. I can see the big social media oligopolies shutting down various conservative media sites. I see trouble ahead, where the fall election could be rigged.
