Wreck Of The Gender Fitzgerald

The warship, one of Norway’s five top modern frigates, was on her way home to Haakonsvern naval base…

Judging by the sound record and expert statements, the crew made crude, almost incomprehensible human errors, making them look like amateurs.

“If this is how the Navy trains its naval officers, it’s shocking. They do not show any discipline or understanding of the roadmap rules, nor how to communicate or navigate at sea,” the experienced captain and navigator Geir S Eilertsen remarked.

“In the audio log, you hear the use of voice that does not seem as if the crew in the frigate is aware of the situation they are in. They are not aware that they are heading for danger,” he said.

Retired Commander Jacob Borresen, also found the collision inexplicable. “The fact that it happened in this particular area is incomprehensible. Here we have a traffic centre packed with radar monitoring equipment reading transponder signals from all the vessels in the area.

“The frigate had state-of-the-art radar equipment and infrared optical systems. How is it possible that the vessels didn’t see each other?” Borresen responded an interview with Norwegian state broadcaster NRK.

  1. I wonder if it was like the BC Ferries Queen of the North where the officer on watch and the helms-woman got alter and inter mixed up? They were too busy he-ing and she-ing and missed a small but important course correction.

    1. Edward, that is exactly what occured to me,which I was about to post.

Political correctness will undoubtedly save the careers of these incompetent clowns, who have just cost the country billions, not just for the ship but for the shutdown of the oil industry while they clean up this mess.

  2. What the effing hell?

Since the oil companies pay 78 percent taxes to the state for production…

The whole issue of gender politics contributing to a disaster made the article a yawner. Same old, same old. Nothing new.

But that tax figure sure woke me up.

  3. It’s not only the navy’s annual budget that was lost but there’s also the loss of all those pretty curtains that had been installed on the warship. What a shame!

  4. Noted the problems the US Navy inflicted on herself do not seem to limited to the US Navy. Stupid ideas seem to have a life of their own. It should be remembered that the purpose of any military should be to prepared for war and to prevail in war. To subordinate mission effectiveness to social agenda is both stupid and dangerous.

    1. As long as the vessels run on biodiesel and are thus “green” who cares about waging war and stuff?

  5. The answer is pretty simple.

Not one person of any high rank on that ship hasn’t gotten their position without being a member of the left-wing party that’s been running that country off and on for the last 90 years.
If they weren’t members of the left-wing party and didn’t go to those indoctrination summer camps year after year after year then they would have gotten nowhere in the Navy of Norway.
Their competence as officers in the Navy of Norway has no bearing on their position on that ship, what is important is their rank in the political party and their membership and the number of years they have spent going to the leftist indoctrination government-run summer camps.

  6. This reminds me. Did the “engineers” in that female engineering company that caused deaths in the FIU pedestrian bridge collapse ever face any legal consequence? I would presume not since I haven’t heard anything.
There would have been dire consequences if it were a “usual” engineering company. Of course, a “usual” engineering company would not have built such a piece of crap, and added the hubris of testing it in full traffic.

    1. Not sure about legal consequences but I’m sure there will be civil litigation. Last spring, before we left Florida, Morgan and Morgan (For the People) were after them. The “For the People” is sort of a joke as this firm must advertise at least a dozen times per evening and that is their tag line.

  7. The problem is never women. The problem is lowering standards to ensure enough women from a limited pool qualify. The problem today with ship collisions is likely everyone working hard at their jobs with no-one actually looking out the frigging window.

    1. Correct. I expect there are competent women sailors … however … hustling quota numbers through training to make gender compliance look good … had a disastrous result. Good thing Norway doesn’t have any enemies … eh?

  8. See? That’s what you get when you don’t include “indigenous knowledge” in your operations.

  9. A navy friend said he viewed the transcripts of the incident. The oil tanker basically warned the warship to take action or there would be a collision. My friend said this sort of thing should never happen to a warship.

He also told me the captain was right to ground the ship to prevent it from sinking, but the captain also should have had most doors and hatches closed in confined waters, this is supposed to be normal procedure for warships.

The captain’s navy career is undoubtedly over.

  10. When more women are able to work together, “it becomes easier to discover and to create a more balanced defense,” Armed Forces Forum opined.

    Never opine.

  11. St. Breivik pray for us.

OOD was probably on her phone posting the selfie “OMG!!! Crash about to happen. Won’t someone think of the children?!?!”

  12. This is disgusting. Women clearly have no place on warships……

taking up valuable space that could go to a Transgender Whatsit instead….

the future of maritime warfare depends on the navies of the world embracing glitter and sparkles…

at least their piercings and tongue studs’d likely show up on radar better….

  13. There is a (very) small Canadian aside to this story. I saw that the ship was named Helge Ingstad, and I thought the name looked vaguely familiar. He was the Norwegian explorer who found the Viking age settlement in L’Anse aux Meadows, NFLD, maybe proving that Norwegians had better seaMANship skills a thousand years ago than they do now.

    1. In the Viking Age, having women on board would not have mattered since any women in the crew would have been of proven competence. As someone else said, it is not women so much as it is 21st century political correctness and leftist politics that scuttled this vessel.

  14. We shouldn’t mock the Norwegians too much about this or it may come to bite us on the ass. My son joined sea cadets this year and the CO or his corps is a woman the Chief is a woman (girl anyway) and a majority of the cadets are girls. I don’t know what the sex ratio is in the RCN now, but if this trend goes forward the RCN will be 3/4 women in a decade.

    1. in a decade they will all be paper pushers on shore because there won’t be any ships to man, as it were.

  15. Quotas and affirmative action programs are the bane of any military. Also the bane of competent women, because they end up paying too. Who knows why a particular women got to where she is? Is she competent or the result of policies? Will she be pushed too soon or beyond her competence? If so, it will invite disaster on her subordinates and herself – because it will destroy her and her career too. There are measures and programs to boost the number of women in most military forces. Those that push these policies from the top will never suffer or acknowledge the mistakes. It’s the same in Engineering and Aerospace.

    1. I guess that explains the lack of wimmen in engineering the past 38 yrs in my experience. We guys dress badly, work too long, prefer beer, talk techie like, what wimmen hang with them types. We were lucky to snag a wife….

  16. “The frigate had state-of-the-art radar equipment and infrared optical systems. How is it possible that the vessels didn’t see each other?”

    Drunk on duty?

Stupid chick didn’t understand the state-of-the-art equipment and got passed anyway because quotas?

    Or both!

  17. SDA should contact the security systems at the highest level of world government and business. Explain how to frustrate hacking by installing a CAPTCHA system…… It’ll bring hackers to their knees

  18. Yes it was probably a spinster problem, but, ultimately, it was a Windows problem. IOW They didn’t look out of the windows!

    1. Many years ago, it was proposed that the USN have all its ships run on Windows. There was a joke making the rounds that said that if that happened, the ships would go down by themselves.

  19. Well, one thing is sure. If the suspicions expressed above are in any way true you can bet that the public will not get the truth.

  20. You never hear of this sort of thing happening in Israel, in any branch of the armed forces, which have been mixed-sex from the very beginning.

This, I propose, is because the IDF is a real armed force with a real job of preserving the existence of the Jewish people, not a make-work scheme that would not last a day against an invasion force from a real country.

This nonsense is tolerated in Norwegian women in uniform because Norway is not surrounded by savages to whom killing Norwegians is the only thing that makes life meaningful.

  21. And yet we’re condemning Saudi Retardia when they decide that women should not drive, maybe they’re on to something.

  22. Just for grins, ask a few women at your place of work whether they’d rather work for a man or a woman.

And remember H. L. Mencken’s definition of a misogynist as “a man who hates women as much as women hate one another.”

  23. For fun I googled for photos and the Norwegian military is filled with beautiful women. Most would be described as gorgeous, and I’m a woman. Wow. Unisex rooms. And women are drafted into the military so that doesn’t necessarily mean commitment.

  24. Trump is against transgendered people in the military.
I think of transgender people as half and half but totally fu$k up.
It is one of the few times that I think he has a point.
Just to be clear, most times he talks, acts and looks like an idiot.
Just like Justin but in a different way.
