Cold, Canuck Hands

There is no joy in Goodale today…

The gun used to shoot 15 people on a busy Toronto street was likely obtained from a “gang-related source,” according to a person familiar with the case.

CP24 safety specialist Cam Woolley says a police source has told him the semi-automatic handgun used in the shooting is illegal in Canada and was originally from the United States. American authorities are helping track the gun’s exact origin.

But never fear, law-abiding gun owners. Every crime committed with a firearm is and will always be, your fault.

  1. I’m not sure I understand where anybody in this article’s getting the idea that some people are legally buying handguns and then illegally selling them “for a quick profit.” There is simply no circumstance where you can dispose of a sidearm in Canada that won’t get you into legal trouble down the line if you haven’t also notified the authorities of said disposal. None. There’s a record of your purchasing (acquiring) the sidearm. That’s what “legally buying a handgun” implies. No longer having it in your possession is itself a criminal offense if you can’t demonstrate that you transferred possession in a fashion approved by statute and associated regulations thereunder.

If there are people out there who are “trafficking” in legal firearms by selling them illegally, they’re simply prepping themselves for an extended stay at Club Fed. They’re idiots.

    1. 1. Buy 100 handguns (preferably small and concealable) in the U.S.

      2. Use a 4WD to drive across the world’s longest undefended border at 2:00 AM in deep forest.

      3. Sell them to gang members. At what, 20x purchase price?

      4. No lawful Canadian owner to send to prison.

I would suggest vigorous border enforcement, but my country isn’t prepared to do that yet.

      1. “I would suggest vigorous border enforcement, but my country isn’t prepared to do that yet.”

That’s because its physically impossible to secure that border. It can’t be done, no matter how much money you throw at it.

But gun control is still the answer, right?

      2. The purchaser would have to be an American in the system or an American having to go through a background check before taking possession or someone buying them illegally. A Canadian couldn’t go through the US background check. Easiest way if you don’t mind the company you keep is through the black market. Any Jihadist wishing to survive a Jihad event like this would be better off using alternatives to guns but your average Muslim Jihadist is supposedly motivated by the after-life so it doesn’t mater.

      3. The crime gangs have been into handgun smuggling into Canada for at least 25 years that I know of. I worked in construction with a few C/G members, one of whom offered to get me anything I wanted within a week.
The guy claimed gun smuggling was almost as lucrative as drug smuggling and a lot easier in Court if you got caught.

Organized crime will always provide what the system prohibits, it’s how they make a living. It isn’t rocket science, but then most of our politicians aren’t exactly rocket scientists either.

But it’s SO easy to bash on legal gun owners as so many interested groups love negative publicity about anything to do with firearms, especially the anti-hunting groups. Pols always take the easy road, it’s in their nature.

We’ve been waiting for this since 2015, now we’ve seen the first steps, go after handguns and semi-auto rifles.

    2. “There’s a record of your purchasing (acquiring) the sidearm. That’s what ‘legally buying a handgun’ implies. No longer having it in your possession is itself a criminal offense if you can’t demonstrate that you transferred possession in a fashion approved by statute and associated regulations thereunder.”

      Details, details.

Don’t confuse everybody with the facts!

    3. I am perplexed by the statement that Hussein’s pistol came from the US. Where else would it come from? Is there actually a Canadian manufacturer of handguns? The US, Germany, Belgium, Russia of course – but Canada?

Another thought: gun control is strict in France. Hence the Bataclan massacre of 2015 was carried out with illegal firearms – all of them.

      Feel better now?

  2. We need to change our strategy.

#4 “make the enemy live up to its own book of rules”

They want to take guns from us? Ok, fine; YOU CAN HAVE THEM.
Since guns are now illegal in Canada, there is no longer any need for police to carry or have access to guns.

Handguns are banned within Toronto city limits? Then police do not have them either.

John Tory’s security detail does not have them; and since guns are illegal, there cannot possibly be a problem. He said it himself; “nobody needs guns in Toronto”. That means, NOBODY GETS GUNS. Not your security detail. Not the police. Not the armoured car guys. Not the RCMP. Not the bailiffs in court; NO ONE.

The next time there is a mass shooter walking down the street, unarmed police will be ordered in.

TIME FOR THEM TO LIVE AND DIE BY THEIR OWN RULES.

    1. Sounds like a good title for a petition to Parliament.
For an added twist should get one of the most rabidly left MP to sponsor it.

      1. – Oh, they’d be DELIGHTED to pass this! All guns in Canada – ILLEGAL!!! – right there, right then – and life in prison ( – REAL life in prison; none of this milksoppy “25 years before eligible for parole” nauze – ) for any { – non-native – } person caught with a firearm of any description, including toy guns if you live in Oshawa.

Then they’d vote themselves and their security details an exemption.

I believe this approach has been tried – Jamaica and the U.K. both banned handguns – and how’d it work out? – why JUST PERFECTLY – their crime stats show no violence AT ALL since the ban, honest! Mind you, they’re the ones recording the crime stats.

“Those who cast the votes decide nothing; those who count the votes decide everything.” – Joseph Stalin

        1. READING COMPREHENSION.

ALINSKY RULE NUMBER FOUR: FORCE YOUR ENEMY TO LIVE UP TO ITS OWN RULE BOOK.

Can you seriously not read? Or do you simply not understand?

Has public school really gotten that bad?

          1. – So, please – how are you planning to do this? THEY make the laws, WE have to live by them, and 75% of all Canadians don’t give a $hit and hate and fear ALL guns; the LIE-berals have snacked-off “fear of guns” since handgun registration was passed in 1934. So they’ll just vote themselves (and their bodyguards) an exemption – and 75% of Canadians will think that’s a good idea and be happy, and none of them will lose any sleep over us.

THINKING COMPREHENSION – how do you plan to force them, Kevin?

            Yeah, thought so…

    2. It’s ironic how the Left hates cops and hates guns and their (law abiding) owners and how gun owners and the law and order crowd are pretty much one and the same.

    3. Kevin You are not paying attention;;; The RCMP near Edmonton (several years ago) tried to apprehend a suspect at his farm without Guns,, they felt that if they were not threatening!!! , but he quickly killed all six…..

The California trader Joe fire fight suggests that police can’t hit a barn door (should not carry Guns) or that the Guns had blanks.. The fact that the police killed the Store Manager favors the former… Missing is not an option in life & death situations

      1. Good. How often have the RCMP been involved in gun grabbing?

They have to live up to their own rule book; WHICH MEANS NO GUNS FOR THEM.

        No guns protecting Parliament Hill.
No guns protecting the provincial leg.
        No guns protecting their residence.

They get to eat the dog food they think is great for the rest of us.

        1. – Crazy little place called “High River”. And no, they DON’T have to live up to their own rule book; whatever gave you that idea? I heard this tale back when Lyin’ Brian was still P.M. and Dim Campbell hadn’t yet become Canada’s First Female (?) Prime Minister; she announced (possibly in the Winnipeg Free Press; anybody here good at searching archives?) “Well I’m going to pass a law this Autumn banning assault rifles in Canada – so until I get MY law passed, Canada Customs will not be allowing them into the country anymore.”

There’s an actual law in the Criminal Code – or was at the time; I looked it up – prescribing penalties against Canada Customs for refusing import of a legal item, and there’s no telling whether Dimmie would ever actually pass her “law”; she could well forget, knowing her. So somebody (with a lot more money than I ever had) went straight home and ordered an assault rifle from the ‘States; then when Canada Customs duly turned it away at the border, they entered an Advice and Complaint against Canada Customs with the RCMP, under that Section of the Criminal Code.

Question – did that Advice and Complaint flutter-into File 13 before or after he left their office? How many speeding tickets do cops give other cops, or Members of Parliament for that matter?

  3. Handguns are registered. If you sell them without dealing with the Canadian Firearms Center then you are committing a crime. Making the association between law-abiding gun owners and criminals is fake news. Toronto City Council’s ignorance is astounding. ‘I don’t own a gun so no one else should’ is the kind of Loser Logic the Left employs for everything.
And I’m not a gun owner.

    1. – A correction please, for a very common Canadian misunderstanding – LEGAL handguns are registered. Only the LEGAL owners are required to comply with the law; and the crooks? – breaking the law is what makes them crooks.

I’m led to believe the Montreal mafia makes their own, for ultimate untraceability.

  4. Always wondered why Republicans have never done this?

Diane Feinstein had a concealed carry permit.
Feinstein has voted for every gun grabbing bill for her entire life.
Feinstein has armed secret service protecting her.

    WHY?

#4 “force the enemy to live up to its own book of rules”.

Why haven’t they ever even tried?

Never attribute to indolence, what can be explained by malice. Pretty clear that no Republican, who has been elected in the last 6,000 years, sees any Democrat as an enemy.

    1. Republicans and Democrats are two sides of the same coin. One are rabid leftists and/or have no understanding of basic economics or history. The other are the same, but called “Republicans”. (This group has to pretend not to be like the other group when cameras are nearby.) Granted, there are some who have a superb understanding of both. However they more than make up for that with treason.

They are just actors. Real power resides elsewhere. Elections are the opiate for the masses and do nothing but move around puppets.

      Rome controls them all.

  5. Yes they should have banned bombs and rental trucks as well……..

Mental illness, foreign born gangs, known Islamists, open borders = Licenced Canadian firearm owner, complete with criminal and mental background checks as problem.

  6. Gun banning is just another form of prohibition, and prohibitions don’t work. Don’t believe me?

How’s our “War on Drugs” going?

    No rush to answer. I’ll wait . . .

  7. “The gun used to shoot 15 people on a busy Toronto street was likely obtained from a “gang-related source,”

    Heh …. you don’t say.

    1. That’s his name and Goodale et al are not accepting the ISIS claim he is one of their recruits. Glad to know they are so certain so early in the investigation. Poor fellow was mentally ill all his life, that’s the start of all reports we hear in our media, It’s much better than suggesting he was an ISIS fighter and our crack CSIS team had no idea.

I’ve never felt less safe in this country than right now. We are not in good hands.

      1. Goodale et al are not accepting the ISIS claim as that does not fit their narrative of not letting a crisis go to waste.

  8. Does anyone know how Alexandre Bissonnette acquired his weapon? I have never seen anything definitive reported – whether it was illegally acquired or if he acquired it legally despite his mental health issues. Nor have I seen anything about charges against whomever it was that left unsecured firearms within Zehaf-Bibeau’s reach.

  9. If all guns are banned… how will this affect the gangs of Toronto?

If all bombs are banned… how will this affect the religion of peace?

Look at the polling numbers for the #Libranos, if it shows them losing the next election, they’ll speed this process up. And the Conservative leadership? sitting on their hands, afraid to make any sensical statements.

Ralph is 5 foot 5… this affects all his statements.

  10. Let’s assume that gun and ammunition sales are banned in Toronto. Then what? Only an idiot would say to themselves, “Problem Solved”. Any person who is going to commit a gun crime doesn’t give a damn about the law and will go to any means necessary to acquire the firearm. And given the fact that they can go a First Nations reserve and acquire whatever they want, how are you going to stop that flow (think Ipperwash, and Caledonia)? I once had an officer (now deceased) tell me that if I gave him $100, he could get any weapon that I might want (illegally, of course) in about an hour.

When you outlaw weapons, only outlaws will have weapons (yes it is a broader paraphrase). And with a 3D printer, a low use weapon is only a day and a PDF away (look at recent US Supreme Court rulings).

    1. That is why you take away their armed security when they are taking your guns away.

Replace their secret service details with “gun free zone” signs. Take away their concealed carry permit. Take away their side arms.

#4 “MAKE THE ENEMY LIVE UP TO ITS OWN BOOK OF RULES”

Stop trying to fight them; give them what they want; but they SHALL (without exception) feast on their own dog food as well. Take away the armed guards on Bloomberg’s 40,000,000 acre estate, and tell all the cat burglars that. Tell the home invaders that all the millionaires are now required to live under the same rules as everyone else.

When the guy with a BILLION $$$$ gets life in prison for shooting a home invader, then they will be following their own rules.

There will be no executive orders saying SEIU is exempt from this Obamacare mandate.
There will be no more armed security after you take everyone else’s away.
THERE SHALL BE NO PROTECTION/SAFETY FOR YOU, IF THERE IS NONE FOR ME.

There will be no armed calvary riding to the rescue, at the next school with gun free zone signs.

You want gun free? YOU GET GUN FREE.

I suspect that ultimately, they will not like it.

  11. If you can blame it on gangs you can ignore other causes. Is that behind the focus on the “gang provided” gun? Are IS Lamb ists ordinary gangs?

These people are lying to us. They lied to get Trudeau elected. The answer is a Trump-like figure. Until we have one we’re screwed!

  12. The spin being put on this story (and the illegal immigration of asylum seekers into Canada) is quite frankly, alarming.

Regarding the Toronto terrorist attack where 15 innocent people were shot and 2 murdered, we now know where the gun came from. The shooters older brother – the one whose been in a coma for a year – was in a gang. The shooter traveled to Afghanistan on holiday. What we don’t know is who trained the shooter to run and change gun clips at the same time? You don’t pick that stuff up at the mental hospital.

Regarding the illegal immigration into Canada, Ralph Goodale describes it not as a “crisis” but merely as “irregular”. There are UN people speaking up saying Canada should realize how lucky it is, because far more asylum seekers are invading Europe. Excuse me? We should feel lucky for that?

Shortly after Goodale’s speech came the story of a muslim family that was attacked by two white brothers as they were leaving a picnic. Seems the father accidentally backed into them with his car and then made the bad mistake of leaving his vehicle to confront them – probably to see if they were OK. The father was punched in the face and required a hospital visit. This was an example of the “real racism” that exists in Canada. But when 15 people are shot by a muslim terrorist Canadians must “not be too quick to judge before all the facts are in”.

I feel very sorry for the muslim family and the guy who got punched in the face – his eye socket was fractured. But how do we know the 2 white brothers weren’t just dick-heads? There are plenty out there of all colors. No, it’s “real racism” every time.

Regarding the illegal gun that originated from the US. We shouldn’t be quick to judge until we have all the facts. After all, this is a mental health issue.

Wait a minute … aren’t all ISIS fighters dealing with mental health issues? Otherwise, why would you pledge your life to someone who kills people and hides among the children?

  13. Why don’t the police and media cite the cases of these sensational stories?
    Are they not newsworthy enough????
These claims by police are fake news without ANY PRIOR EVIDENCE distributed through the fake news media.

  14. In answer to the Mayor’s plaintive query “Why does anyone needs a gun in Totonto”, many teenage gangbangers could say we do and provide him with their reasons.
But he isn’t interested in confronting them. Otherwise how hard would it be to set up round the clock surveillance, checking of city housing projects where piles of weapons are stored, and routinely check likely suspects? The answer to that is also obvious, to do so would bring down the wrath of black activists, civil libertarians, minority rights groups of all stripes. “Carding” is already an issue with Toronto police and was a charge leveled at Doug Ford, in that he wasn’t against it rigorously enough.
The police are not stupid enough to wonder where gun caches are located, but their hands are tied by everyone from the Mayor on up to the federal Liberal cabinet. Maybe the new minister on gangs will have more ideas than Ralph but don’t bet on it.

    1. “Why does anyone need a gun in Toronto” is ignoring the problem.

Why do we need “gangs” in Toronto? The mayor should address that one.

  15. Good ale can pander that punch to the typical Canadian who is most definitely a mouth-breather, but to the rest of us its rot gut. The Liberal’s decide what the fear-mongering agenda is going to be. Canadian guns owners are suddenly on the bad trend but any non-Canadian can illegally enter the country and be given housing, welfare, and full medical AND dental care immediately and if you disagree you’re a racist, a Nazi or un-Canadian. 2+2 = 5. Diversity is Strength. Freedom is Slavery. Liberals are Kunts.

  16. Never in my 62.5 years of existence have I witnessed so many unhinged mental patients (and Muslims) murdering 10yo girls in cold blood … until quite recently. Yet in those same 62.5 years, I would dare say the number of handguns per capita hasn’t radically changed. What I do know, is that over those same 62.5 years … no responsible gun owners have ever caused the death or injury to anyone (who didn’t deserve it, i.e. rapists and robbers).

It’s a “societal” problem … as in the degeneration of our society. The “thug” culture. Third world … where life is cheap … culture.

  17. The gun was illegal. Used to commit the worst crime(s) in the book. I doubt that Hussein intended to survive the (terrorist) attack. I’m sure making it more illegal will solve the problem. We obviously need a new category. VERY ILLEGAL!

  18. If they actually bother to trace the gun, they will find that it was bought by a straw buyer from an FFL under direct orders from the BATFE. Just like those guns from Phoenix that went to the Mexican cartels under orders from the BATFE Phoenix Field Division. There are 25 BATFE Field Divisions across the country:
    https://www.atf.gov/contact/atf-field-divisions
This was most likely ordered by either Boston or New York.
The Deep State sewage does not only dwell in the FBI, the DoJ, and the CIA, but is instead rampant across the entire government.

  19. Murder is illegal in Canada. That doesn’t seem to stop shooters so making guns illegal certainly won’t.

  20. This kind of political posturing is how countries fracture, like the US is fracturing.

To make millions of lawful Canadians who have jumped through the hoops, obtained their licence, paid many thousands for their guns, enjoy their hobby and passion, legally and safely, pay for the crimes of a mentally ill failure of our immigration system is beyond foolish. It’s cynical, arrogant, and extremely short sighted if you are trying to keep a country together in this complicated world. Go ahead, Liberals, forever alienate hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of solid Canadians to pander to a few thousand anti-gun screamers. It will end badly for everyone concerned, not just the gun owners.

  21. Will Hollywood Airhead Liam Neeson blame American Gun Owners like the jerk did after the French shooting Incident will Dope and Booze for brains Matt Damon demand more Gun Confiscations? Hollywood is full of Idiots

  22. “Why does anyone in Toronto need to own a gun?” is the statement of a tyrant. John Tory has no right to determine whether or not the residents of Hog Town can legitimately own guns. Unless a gun has been used to commit a crime they are simply a very useful tool to defend oneself or prevent aggression among many other peaceful applications. Given the obvious substitute devices potentially available, by logical extension, very few objects and chemicals could be “needed to be owned”. Unfortunately most Canadians have been culturally lobotomized when it comes to guns so Tory is just another politician pimping ignorance, smugness and fear.

    1. “… a very useful tool to defend oneself or prevent aggression …”

Nope not in Canada, put that on your PAL application and it will be automatically denied. Hunting and sporting purposes are the only legitimate reasons to own a gun in Trudeaupia.

      1. And your gun must never be loaded. Unless you’re about to squeeze the trigger on a moose.

        1. Not just that. If it is a handgun it needs to be double locked (trigger lock and gun cabinet/ hard case) with ammo (regardless of caliber) outside of the storage container. A guy lost his PAL because they found 12 gauge shells in the same case as the .22 riffle and the crown argue that the gun could be re-barreled and re-chambered or something. The Solomon judge agreed,

      2. I understand the sad reality of Canadian gun law but one can raise the debate above the Trudeaupian sewer of a constitution to include actual natural rights such as those denied by Alan Rock when, as Minister of “Justice”, he claimed that “Canadians do not have the right to defend their lives with guns”. Any government based on such arguments is inherently evil if not illegitimate.

        1. “Any government based on such arguments is inherently evil if not illegitimate.”
          Amen.

  23. Why aren’t we describing this as “A man shot 15 people on a busy Toronto street today, with a gun likely obtained from a gang-related source.”?

The gun didn’t go off on it’s own. It had a bit of help getting to the crime scene, then loaded with the proper ammunition & then carrying out it’s evil. Someone had to squeeze the trigger mechanism, all the while aiming “the gun” at targets called people, or nobody would have been hurt or killed.

    1. and the terrorist in question, clearly had some training while overseas…

      https://www.jihadwatch.org/2018/07/cop-on-toronto-gunman-i-have-never-seen-anybody-operate-any-kind-of-weapon-as-well-as-he-did

“He was very proficient. I can’t imagine he could change magazines on the run, avoid jamming and hit targets as accurately as he did, had he not had some firearms training and experience.”

“I heard the reports of him being mentally ill, and I don’t discount that as a possibility. But I will say in my years of dealing with emotionally disturbed people I have never seen anybody operate any kind of weapon as well as he did.”
