About That Claim That 50% of Guns Used in Crime Are Sourced in Canada

#fakenews

So this is about a small subset of guns seized in Western Canada. Of 783 trace requests, just 229 could be traced and 50% of those traced were domestically sourced.

That does not equal 50% of all guns used in crime in Canada.

  1. “The gun control lobby wants to use this event to make it harder for Canadians that want to go shooting at the range to do so even though CBC is reporting that this was an illegal gun from the United States.”

And easier for Librano-affiliated ethnic gangs to murder Canadians who criticize or just embarrass the Liberal party.

  2. The guns traced were not guns used in crime. They were guns that RCMP tried to find the owners. Maybe they were trying to return most of them to the owners.

  3. Being seized and being used in a crime are two very different categories as well.
My bet is that the actual number is more like 2%.

    1. True that. How many of those were paper crimes committed by otherwise law abiding gun owners?

  4. The Canadian Press story run yesterday is suspicious just on the firearm numbers. The size of arsenals reported in Toronto are just too big to have come from legal sales in Canada, plus a lot of the weapons could never be purchased here legally. I thought it was a bogus story when first reading it, but many readers will believe it because it is reported by the national press, not to mention CBC.
Obviously Liberals are using the latest Toronto crime stats to ramp up the campaign for banning hand guns, even though many are already banned and the action of carrying a pistol in public has been illegal since the 1930s.
In short just as the Montreal École Polytechnique shooting was used to justify the original Gun Registry, these tragedies will be used to usher in Gun Control 2. A political solution to a clear criminal problem.

    1. Montreal École Polytechnique shooting was a Muslim on a shooting rampage. The Toronto shooting was a Muslim on a shooting rampage. Why are they blaming legal shooters and not the obvious?

      1. Interesting. Where is the list of the wounded? Mostly women? Men? Or a statistical mix. Maybe he was targeting women… maybe that’s why some reports say he was yelling “get out of the way!” Was he yelling that at the men?…

        1. 7 men, 6 women.

All things being equal, you would expect equal numbers of dead men and women? Why two dead women? Maybe he targeted them and fired follow up kill shots? Maybe women being *on average* smaller are more fragile? Maybe just random statistics?

Maybe the most significant fact is the identity of the killers?

          Naaahhhh!

      2. Scar said: “Why are they blaming legal shooters and not the obvious?”

That is a legit question. I’ve wondered about that for a long time. Here’s your answer: http://phantomsoapbox.blogspot.com/2018/07/toronto-danforth-shooter-wednesday.html

The Rebel has a video up of a Toronto teacher going off on one of their reporters at the memorial for the slain on Danforth. You watch the video, and the teacher ranting wildly (at what is essentially a funeral, to be sure) is the reason for Ottawa blaming shooters. There’s a huge number of her clones out there, all doing the same thing. You’ve all seen the type, you know a bunch yourselves.

Politicians go where the votes are. There’s a BIG constituency of people in Canadian cities who HATE and FEAR other people. Politicians are pandering to that hate and fear.

What’s easier for John Tory, really? To start jailing all the gang pukes selling drugs in Toronto? To run stings on murderous @$$h0le$ like Mr. Hussein the Danforth shooter? To shut down all the illegal stuff being done by immigrants, that leads to them knifing and shooting each other? (White people are not getting knifed and shot. Same as the USA, the victims and the shooters are pretty much all black. Nobody gives a !@#% about black people at City Hall, for realz.)

There’s no political will out there for him to do that. He’ll get called a racist/bigot/homophobe. So Tory blathers about guns instead. It doesn’t impact his budget, his poll numbers go up, and after the speech he doesn’t have to -do- anything. The mayor of Toronto cannot institute a gun ban, he has no power to do so. But he can SAY he’s going to, and all the moronic school teachers will scream approval, and then… nothing happens. Just saying it is sufficient. That’s why the crime keeps getting worse.

The people who will be affected negatively by the new law, if there is one, all live OUTSIDE TORONTO. They don’t vote for John Tory, or the Liberals generally. Liberals lose nothing by angering the entire rest of Canada outside the three big cities, and they know it.

There you go. That’s why. So, either we all get together and change that equation to one where John Tory is terrified to mention guns or gun control in public because he’ll lose his next election, or it just keeps getting worse.

You don’t have to look far to see how its going to go, either. Just consider Buffalo and Detroit, those two places are the model for where this is all headed.

  5. did they happen to study how many holders of RPALs have been charged or had their licenses revoke in the same time frame?

In 2016 there were a total of 2,223 revocations, out of 2,076,840 licenses overall.

Also in 2016 there were 2 gun traffickers in the edmonton area doing straw purchases, how many of the guns in their study came from those criminals?

    http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/2016-commissioner-firearms-report

    1. “In 2016 there were a total of 2,223 revocations, out of 2,076,840 licenses overall.”

And most of these were likely convicted of violent or drug offenses not involving a misuse of guns.

2 million licenses – what is this – 1/3 of gun owners?

    2. One also wonders, how many of those revocations were completely bogus. As for example someone stopping at a drive through while transporting a restricted firearm and so technically not transporting it from home to range along the shortest possible rote. Or someone stopped at a spot check and a cop demanding to see the properly transported gun and upon opening the case right away charging the owner with publicly displaying the firearm.

  6. My limited understanding of Canada’s gun laws suggests that they are quite reasonable. The problem is not with those laws; the problem is, as always, with those who choose to do evil.

Below the 49th the gun laws various with states and cities, but as with any law now it is only what a federal judge decides.

    1. “My limited understanding of Canada’s gun laws suggests that they are quite reasonable.”

Your understanding is very limited if you think the regulations here are reasonable. The regulations, taken together, constitute a huge burden of money, time and legal risk for gun owners. The intention is to dissuade and punish anyone who wants to own a gun.

As well, the use of a firearm in self defense has ended up with the financial ruin of the person defending themselves in every case the last 20 years. The crown essentially forbids self defense, even though it is technically legal.

  7. The Lieberals continue full stride maintaining their lying narrative so they can affect changes based on emotion and ignorance rather than fact. It is ‘racist’ to think that Islam is a threat to western ideals. It is racist to card black and brown men who disproportionately represent crime. On the other hand white males above the age of 40 Are racists because well, they’re white. If they own a weapon of any sort they are a threat to us all.

  8. Why is it that the left’s ultimate aim is to confiscate and ban firearms for the citizenry? I think we know that it is too control the population.

I know, old story. My late father-in-law could remember when as a young boy of thirteen in 1920 in the new Utopian Soviet Russia that about that time firearms for citizens were banned and the district Cheka and local Militz came around to pick them up.

    1. Exactly. South African government is following these very steps right now. The results are perfectly predictable.

  9. Enduring lies:

“women” are paid less than “men.”
    the 50% nonsense above.
    hottest year on record.
Stats Canada low income cutoffs are the “poverty line.”
Hillary didn’t have any classified material on her server.
Reset Hillary and More Flexibility Obama weren’t colluding with the Russians, Trump was with his sanctions & closing consolates.
    Governments create jobs.
Trump removed MLK’s bust from the WH.
Harper ran a deficit and the Liberals, as “promised” kept deficits under $10b/year.
Payoffs to strippers are campaign contributions, but not “contributions” to the Clinton Foundation or Bubba’s $500k Russian talks.

  10. So will that annoying little simp David Hogg blame the NRA like he has done before will Micheal Bloomberg go to Toronto and throw a new million dollars to some gun control bunch will George Soros do so? will the New York Pravda(Times)Blame the Gun Lobby will the Fake News Network(CNN)do the same?

  11. I’m a long gun owner but I have no handguns – too much trouble for me…

I heard a story from a fellow hunter years ago that a guy he knew had come across a handgun illegally and tried to purchase ammunition for it. Basically, he was successful but by the time the guy got to work the next day, the police were waiting for him. This was over 30 years ago.

Now, a-hole Tory is suggesting that someone could ‘legally’ purchase 10 to 20 handguns and then sell them to the bad guys. Is there no ‘red flag’ in the system today that could prevent someone from doing this? Either all at once – would be ridiculous – over over the course of a year?

Should that not be questioned or followed up by the good guys?

So much bullshit and so little time to make people cogent.

  12. Yup, they are going for a gun grab again. The CBC is dealing news and “facts” they know is false. Playing up the shot little girl angle, ignoring all the laws already broken even before the shooter pulled the trigger.

  13. Why isn’t there a full page ad in the NYT, telling criminals that Bloomberg’s mansion is a gun free zone, and only unarmed police will respond to calls?

We really, really need to force these gun grabbers to live up to their own rules. No carry permits, no armed guards. If no one in NYC needs a gun, then why are millionaires allowed to have armed security?

Rule four; they live up to their own rules. WE FORCE THEM TO.

  14. I suspect a new gun registration is in the works but not before the election. If the libranos see it as a vote getter they will promise action on it. They know there will be significant push back in certain areas of the country. Almost 2 million gun owners in the country including many in quebek and Ontario.
