1. That was likely in the days before he became scripted by his “new found friends”. Now he’s a more kept “world changer” and as a result, a better speller.

   1. Who needs to know how to spell when one is busy “changing” the world. Wasn’t there an episode about that sort of thing in the original series of Star Trek?

      1. Then again, I’m reminded of something that happened to me while I was teaching. That year, I had a real collection of “scribes”, a bunch whose idea of spelling seemed to be arranging letters at random and hoping that they spelled something remotely comprehensible.

         One day, I vented my frustration in our office area, only to be told by the department secretary that I shouldn’t be so concerned as language is “evolving”.

         The problem with those students was that if they couldn’t spell worth a hoot, then what would the chances be that they could get a parts order or a bill of materials correct? Nah–such concerns are trivial, aren’t they?

3. To B A Deplorable Sewer Rat: I agree with you that correct spelling is very very important , if not vital. No one would like to get the wrong prescription from a pharmacy, for example. Luckily today doctors type their prescriptions.
   The shame is that they stopped teaching Latin and Greek in high schools. Big mistake. It was stressed to us as important for future reference and understanding. You have lovely words in the complete dictionaries of all languages. Miss spelling words are but a complete distraction.

11. I’m glad I took Latin in high school and some Greek one year after school. Wonderful heroic stories and a great understanding of the foundations of our civilization. Great training for studying other languages.

The only reason he announced his collegiate admission denials was to light a fire under some like minded soul in an admissions office or provost position at one of those colleges to intervene and offer him a slot. 23. On my computer/smart phone I have this thing called spell check. Sometimes it gets frustrating but most times it keeps me from looking like a fool. I wonder if the wonder kid the gun grabber knows about spell check?
