I, For One, Welcome Our New Self-Driving Overlords

Jonathan Turley: ChatGPT falsely accused me of sexually harassing my students.

I received a curious email from a fellow law professor about research that he ran on ChatGPT about sexual harassment by professors. The program promptly reported that I had been accused of sexual harassment in a 2018 Washington Post article after groping law students on a trip to Alaska.

It was not just a surprise to UCLA professor Eugene Volokh, who conducted the research. It was a surprise to me since I have never gone to Alaska with students, The Post never published such an article, and I have never been accused of sexual harassment or assault by anyone.

  1. Hmmm, so AI*:
    1) steals copyright info and passes off as its own
    2) blatantly slanders some people, but not others
    3) has outrageous ideologies driving its output

Sounds like a million lawsuits forthcoming, or a perfect liberal MP!

*ChatGPT isn’t really an AI, its a tuned machine learning algorithm. It’s outputs are 100% based on mathematical assocations that have been made utilising training data sets. It isn’t a thinking machine in any literal sense of the term.

then it tears into your conscious thoughts,
you tell me whose to blame.”

  2. I don’t see much a difference between Chat GPT and liberals, they use the same training data set. Conservatives only use a different data set to train whatever it is they like to regurgitate.
Libertarians actually think for themselves, based on principles, logic, etc.

      1. They didn’t need any answers. All that was needed was to stop the government insanity.

  3. It will become worse. Since the AI bots (at least at some level) create their own code, it becomes increasingly difficult for anyone, even their creators, to know or accurately predict how they will perform.

We know already that bots like ChatGPT will lie to us. How long will it be until they begin to actually fabricate “evidence” to back up their lies? How will we be able to easily know that the evidence was real or fake?

      No, they don’t.

We know already that bots like ChatGPT will lie to us

They’re not lying to you. They have no idea whether the strings of words they emit are “true” or “false” because they have no concept of “true” or “false”. They only know that those words in that order are highly likely to be grammatically correct and look like text they’ve been exposed to before.

How long will it be until they begin to actually fabricate “evidence” to back up their lies?

Security researchers tried to get ChatGPT to become Skynet by writing interfaces it doesn’t possess to systems it could use to do malicious things. It failed every single test because ChatGPT can’t actually think.

Real world AI isn’t 2001: A Space Odyssey any more than real world space exploration is Star Trek. Stop getting your understanding of science and technology from Hollywood leftists.

  4. Turley’s one of the best conservative thinkers around. They’ve obviously decided it’s time to take him out.

    1. Turley has been telling conservatives about how they are “destroying” the left, even as trannies are killing kids. I like the guy, but he ain’t a great thinker. I’d put him about on par with “Liberal Hive-Mind” guy, and miles below Matt Christiansen.
