You mention the cold. I personally think this is a factor of significance. It has been my experience that most people try to be outside in winter during these (cold) temperatures as little as practical. That being said, there are those that enjoy being outside for a variety of activities, but they tend not to be outside in either the same numbers, nor the same duration as during the warmer months. And still, thousands (or tens of thousands?) show up from across Canada and when its bitterly cold.
Two questions that come to mind over this are …
1) How does the size of this crowd compare to the Canada Day crowd.
2) How many more would be there if the weather were warmer.
I ask in regards to Canada Day in particular–not only to draw attention to a parallel between patriotic crowds, but also if the crowd sizes are comparable, then this is another data point that our dear and brave absent leader is out of touch about it being a fringe minority.
